I think he's a great pic. He doesn't look exactly like him, but I can see him more as Lando then I can the guy playing Han as Han.

I still don't care for the casting of Glover because he doesn't physically resemble Lando enough (height, looks, hair). But, boy, did I love reading his take on the character and the man who originally played him. And I applaud Glover for astutely understanding that Lando, at least the one we saw in ESB, was a more complicated character than Han. This is absolutely correct and something I've been preaching for years but something that other people rarely have claimed.

 

At least two of those things (height and hair) are pretty easy to fix with some very uncomplicated movie magic...

 

Lando's introduction in TESB reminds me of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka introduction. Both characters establish one mood only to drastically change it within seconds, and from that point on, you're not sure if you can trust them.

 

Watching with terror for any actor Announcements...

 

Chewie yesterday, Lando today... we have to be really close to seeing something, right? I mean really seeing something. Not a teaser, it's at least a couple of months too early for that, but like, a cast photo with the title? Maybe we'll get that when they fully wrap shooting next month?

Anyway, I dig the hell out of Lando's jacket. And I know it's easy to have your eyes drawn to the monitor, but what's with the wall behind him? I'm safely assuming it's a set, and it looks made up to be either bloodstained or covered in rust streaks.

 

Looks like some sort of rust metal to me, which is interesting, considering that Lando is in the Falcon's cockpit. If that rock is supposed to be an alien planet al la China's 'rainbow mountains' though, I might actually swoon and pass put in the theatre.

 

Oh my god that would be a beautiful locale to add to Star Wars.

All I need for now is the assurance that this damn movie might work out.

 

Anyone wanna speculate on the background? Is Lando hunched over like that because of something horrible? Looks like a massacre happened there.

 

Look at the left edge of the photo.
That wall is not smooth. It's not the side of a mountain.
It has steps, like an Incan pyramid.
I think.
With white snow? on each step.
And, yeah, blood. Which Lando isn't pleased about.

 

Yeah, the "blood" is also a repeated pattern (see the right and left sides, you can even see the seam). I am wondering if someone tossed in something in the background real quick so they could disguise the scene before the photo was posted because the pattern is VERY noticeable and these folks that make these movies are hardly ever THAT sloppy.

That aside, could it be part of the horrors of the Spice Mines of Kessel?

 

Yeah I saw the seam, and I'm not sure what to make of that. And now I see the repeated bloodstains.
So odd. I figured it to be hand painted, not printed.

The seam seems to be a spot where it all repeats. The snow does it too.

It's it a quick Photoshop effort to hide something?
Just plaster over the right side with the image on the left side?

 

Yeah, that is what makes me wonder if it was a quick chop to disguise a set.

 

Howard is very, very smart to share this much (and LFL is smart to let him do it). For fans, it really takes the sting out of the late director change. Ten tweets in, and most Star Wars fans will be hailing Howard as the best thing since sliced bread.

 

The top half of the image, when including the blue part of the image at the right, makes it look like the stairs to a an ancient temple (similar to Mayan/Aztec temples), with blood on the steps. Or maybe I am reading too much into it.
