So...why fake kill him off in the first place? They probably shouldn't have included him on the show in the first place. If you completely removed him from the show they could've told the same story. I guess they wanted to show how ruthless Reva is?

They are in desperation trying to make Reva a badass and the character, like other Inquisitors are just so badly written and acted - much like this show and so far all its characters overall is full of bad writing and characters are a mess.

Is Maul confirmed for Season 2 or just your opinion?
Maul wasn't sure if Kenobi is alive or not 2 years before Episode IV. That's a long time between Kenobi series and Rebels Season 3.

Another incident can happen between Kenobi series and before even Rebels started, and Maul might not know if Kenobi died or not after their encounter.

Example: Kenobi didn't know if Maul survived or not after the spaceship crash after their duel on Florrum during the Clone Wars Season 5.

Good point. Its possible Maul thinks he’s dead later. That would be epic to see Maul return and fight Kenobi. Obi-Wan has the best enemies, Vader and Maul; he’s that bombad and awesome! :)

And Maul is an enemy of Vader as well. 3 way rivalry.

Imagine Maul was forced to team up with Kenobi (similar to his team up with Ahsoka and Kanan on Malachor), against Vader for a short time, Maul + Kenobi vs. Vader, Kenobi would need to watch his back all the time if Maul is going to back stab him or not.

Maul also teamed up with Dooku in the canon comics, if they didn't cancel the Clone Wars season 6, we were going to see this in the animation.

I guess for the small % of the audience who have read & remember the novels, there's that to rely on. For the writers it's the sort of vague nebulous conceit that allows them to do anything. Problem is, they have to assume that people have only seen the on-screen content. Same goes for any other tv/movie saga that also has some novels or comics out there. When they did the recap of past events at the start of episode 1, they sure didn't display some pages of the novels to make viewers aware of that stuff. Perhaps when we see some scenes with Ben & Qui-Gon or Yoda, they will touch on some of that information. If not, how it appears is that things have gone terribly wrong in terms of their plans. The PT makes clear that they prefer to train students from a very early age. As they found with Anakin, the last thing they want to do is allow a child to spend years forming an intense emotional bond with a parent figure, & then yank them away to train. Anakin was considered too old when he was the age the twins are in this show. As we saw, Luke was so attached to the Lars that he declined to train with Ben in ANH. It was only after they were killed that he agreed. And Yoda said he was too old in TESB, so it's not like he changed his mind about the age thing. Unless they bring that "waiting for the Force to tell them" stuff into the on-screen canon, what they should do is explain that their hopes to train the twins were derailed due to the extent of the Purge & the size & scope of the Empire. They didn't count on numerous Jedi turning to the DS & forming hit squads. When they made their plans they just thought it was Palpatine & his conventional forces underneath him. Anakin was dead as far as they knew. IMO it would've been a good move in adding to Ben's dejection at the start of this show by having him almost given up on the idea of training Luke. Things are too hopeless & it would be cruel to train him just to force him to hide or be killed. In addition, ghost-Qui-Gon still isn't taking his calls. Then throughout the show Ben sees the beginning of a growing movement to resist the Empire, is impressed by the potential of Leia, Qui-Gon gives him a pep talk & his hope is restored by the end.
    Someone wrote that??

Yes, all of this. The crux of the Ben/Owen argument is mainly about keeping Luke safe -- Ben thinks being involved in Luke's life will help, Owen thinks it will hurt -- and the scene would still work without the specific reference to Jedi traning. As is, it's not a dealbreaking misstep, but it does clash a bit with how demoralized Ben seems to otherwise be in the first couple of eps. It feels somewhat obligatory. If anything, it's a more fitting argument for a (speculative) S2, in which Ben has regained his faith and his confidence enough to fully recommit to the fight.

Maybe Better Call Saul is still in my head with Lalo having more freedom to operate when everyone thinks he’s dead. GI might be doing something for Vader on his own. Or he’s just in hospital.

I’m wondering if Obi-Wan is bait for bigger plots at play between Inquisitors, surviving Jedi, and Sith.

I dont think it clashes at all. It is the one thing he is holding on too. If he gives up that, his life is literally completely pointless and he has no chance to redeem himself from the failure to train Anakin.

    Define badly written.

IMO the show has some of the strongest dialogue in ALL SW. Plus Ewan is acting his butt off. Little Vivan is too. Rupert Fiend was awesome too. And Moses for me is a great new addition to SW. I have no idea where she is acting bad or was "badly written" (I really dont like that phrase!).

His main responsibility is looking out for Luke & keeping him safe. That's the point that keeps him going. The kid's parents are dead, he was involved in that, so it's the least he can do. Ideally, things will change where there's a point in training him. If not, he can try to make sure the kid leads a safe & happy life.

I mean that would also keep him going potentially, but i think he always plans to train him and never wavers. Luke is the galaxies best hope for good reason.

    How true.

Remember Obi-Wan's smile at seeing them both reunited and his little glance at Vader.

This makes me think: Up until now, keeping Luke and Leia apart seemed like a good idea. Obi-Wan's smile may just be about reuniting a brother and sister - thankfully they also realised their sibling relationship at some point - or will the Kenobi series suggest that there is more of a plan behind it?

Maybe a Qui-Gon appearance puts ideas in Obi-Wan's mind...

Regarding season 2, Varma revealed that Tala was originally going to be Obi-wan's love interest in season 1, but they thought it would be too rushed. But having a second season would allow for time to have passed and for the writers to explore territory that they originally wanted to.

And I hope they do, because there's a lot to explore there. Now with the Order gone, you could have Obiwan truly wrestling between his devotion and his desires, everything he missed out on with Satine, having no contact with his real family, all because he was raised to fear being expelled from the community in which he was raised. And what better character than Quinlan (with his romance with Ventress) to contrast Obi-wan's relationship with the rules (which of course relates to what happened to Anakin as well).

    Here's what I'd do:
    Episode 1
An Imperial pilot crash lands on Tatooine. The wandering Obi-wan comes by and helps him journey back to civilization. During their long walk back, Obi-wan hears the pilot's thoughts on the Empire, the rules he lives by, and his disdain for turncoats. At the same time we're treated to Clone Wars flashbacks, with Obi-wan and Clone Troopers, who we eventually see turn on Obi-wan, seemingly following orders like sheep. Along the way, Obi-wan recognizes the similarities between himself and the loyal troopers following orders blindly. Obi-wan nurses the trooper back to health briefly at his home (from ANH) before urging him to get a move on and leave. At the end, a woman arrives at Obi-wan's home, it's Tala, and they kiss.

    Episode 2
We flash back to some time after season 1, with Obi-wan and Tala on Bespin meeting Quinlan, who asks Obi-wan if he and Tala are an item. Obi-wan learns of Quinlan's relationship with Ventress, making Obi-wan question why he's still sticking to the code, depriving himself of love and family. Does he actually agree with every rule he was raised by, or is he just following blindly? We see Obi-wan eventually let his guard down with Tala as he buys her a drink. We montage through their developing relationship, and her decision to follow him back to Tatooine, even getting a house together. In the present, Ghost Qui-Gon questions Obi-wan's actions, and Obi-wan explains how he's just taking after his master, playing hard and fast with the code. We reveal that Quinlan has dealings with Crimson Dawn and end with a shot of Maul.

    Episode 3
Tala feels distance with Obi-wan, who sneaks off to occasionally watch over Luke, and she wants to get to know everything about Obi-wan. And so, he starts from the beginning as we flash back to his youngling years, the moment he first left his family, recounting how he first arrived at the temple. We see the every day life of a young Jedi on Coruscant, the daily rituals, the rules, lunch hour, you name it, the imagery reminiscent of the clones on Kamino in AOTC. We see Obi-wan become Qui-Gon's apprentice as well as their mission to Mandalore when he first meets Satine, who Qui-Gon warns Obi-wan not to pursue. Upon hearing his stories, Tala questions why Obi-wan doesn't seek out his brother and his parents now, and so Obi-wan does, while Tala watches over Luke.

    Episode 4
Obi-wan visits his homeworld, tracking down his elderly parents, and his brother, whose name is Ben. They explain how they gave him away to the Jedi Order as they believed he would have a better life. Obi-wan's not sure if it was. Meanwhile, Quinlan has dealings with Crimson Dawn, getting captured and dueling with Maul, who means to use Quinlan to draw out Kenobiiiiiiiii on Dathomir.

    Episode 5
While captured, Quinlan thinks back to his romance with Ventress, and we get to see a lot of Dark Disciple brought to life, including Ventress' death. Obi-wan comes to Quinlan's aid and has a duel with Maul. Quinlan is stabbed by Maul, but Obi-wan destroys Maul's legs, allowing him to escape with the dying Quinlan, who tells Obi-wan to cherish his love with Tala. Upon returning to Tatooine, Obi-wan finds his home broken into and Tala missing. Obi-wan finally feels the overwhelming fear of loss that Anakin did.

    Episode 6
Initially assuming it to be the Stormtrooper he helped, Obi-wan eventually learns that it was Tusken Raiders, and he tracks her down. Luckily, she's alive, and he rescues her. After ensuring her safety, Obi-wan takes his lightsaber and heads back out there, tempted to strike back the same way Anakin did, but upon seeing their reaction to his blue saber, he senses that this has happened to them before. Like Luke seeing the hand of Vader, Obi-wan sees the path he cannot allow himself to go down as well. By actually feeling first hand why the rule exists, he's able to more clearly choose to continue his life the way he was before, free of attachment, and so, he returns home and arranges to have Tala sent off Tatooine, bringing their time playing house to an end.

When Qui-Gon expresses his condolences for Obi-wan making this sacrifice, Obi-wan instead expresses only gratitude, for it is because of his Jedi upbringing, because of the Force, that he will always have his real family -- Qui-Gon. Obi-wan then sees the ghost of Quinlan and Ventress as well. Obi-wan continues his daily monastic Jedi rituals ("The Force is with me, and I am one with the Force") with a greater sense of reassurance, standing guard should Maul or Vader ever find Luke, ready for the day to pass his knowledge onto Luke and offer him the opportunity to follow in his own footsteps, but only should he choose to.

Alien diversity is better than with some previous live-action material. I still would like to see more like rodians, ithorians, aqualish, quarren, mon cala, ishi tib, klatooinians, nikto and/or weequay etc. common species. They are represented as nearly omnipresent species in animated shows and are common in OT and PT. For the sake of continuity they should be there. They were mostly lacking in sequels which felt just wrong to many fans like me. Humans are only really omnipresent species in all star wars media. Twi'leks and zabraks are easiest for people to remember(and they have appeared too) but they are more like exotic human races in a away. Trandoshans made appearance in Obi-Wan already and since they obviously used them a lot in BoBF it's not surprising they utilize the same assets.

Mandalorian used these classic species pretty well so I wonder why we haven't yet seen many of them in Obi-Wan at all.

They've had many new alien species and some obscure sequel aliens like Onodone and Aki-Aki in the show though so overall I wouldn't complain about lack of aliens. But lack of certain recognizable species is a bit surprising so far.

Were any of those really common in the movies though?
If you look at the OT and PT, basically all of the species had one, maybe two movies in which they appeared. Outside of species linked to specific characters like Chewie, Yoda, Jar Jar, or even Mas Amedda, there weren't really any that saw a significant presence over multiple movies. The Neimodians and Sand People are really the only ones who appeared with multiple characters in multiple movies.

For the most part, you just see a species used heavily in one movie, and that's about it. The ST continued with the exact same approach. I don't really see anything wrong with it. It's suppose to be a huge galaxy, there is no reason to limit yourself in terms of species. There is nothing unusual about not seeing certain species for some time, nor any standard species you expect to encounter.

Some settings are just naturally more diverse for alien life mingling together. Obviously the Jedi Temple was one such place. As was the Senate. Many of the bars, including the bar that is later bombed in BOBF, had a nice mix. The Daiyu market also had a nice mix. Beyond settings like that it makes sense that different regions where people are actually living are going to have less of a mix and more of a majority population of some kind and then some minority groups.

Oh gods, please no. Obi-Wan and possible love interests in direct opposition to the Jedi Code has been done to death. 3 times so far in the Clone Wars and the books. Can we let that plotline die? We've already seen Obi-Wan wrestle between his desires and his devotions almost half a dozen times already. Can we all just agree he will be a Jedi to the end and just find something else to focus on?

Unless aging changes his perspectives and Tala really wins his heart. A lot of people haven’t gone though all of those previous examples so if this one is different and lasts longer it could be an okay plot point. This would be his first live action romance and indeed his first romance overall for many who don’t watch animated content.
