Where does your allegiance lie?
I love the softness of the pancake. My allegiances though are questionable and will go turncoat for a waffle with fried chicken.
I'll choose a waffle over a pancake any day, but I won't say no to a pancake.
Waffles! It holds the syrup for you.
Still going to say French Toast after all these years . . .
But waffles over pancakes, though I never turn down a pancake if offered.
Since the move to the burbs I am no longer blessed with constant access to a vegan-friendly IHOP.
I went with pancakes, but it was a tough, tough decision.
Pancakes. Not a big waffle fan.
Pancakes, because it's easier to clean a griddle than a waffle iron
Waffles...the best breakfast sandwich. You've never lived until you've had a waffle sandwich with eggs, chorizo, cheese and escabeche onions!
Pancakes. Too often waffles are just hype. Pancakes rarely let you down.
I keep waffling back and forth.
Real pancakes ( ) are slightly better than waffles. Waffles are much, much better than American pancakes.
Hot cakes. (Yeah, that’s what we call pancakes in Mexico).

Certain recent events here in the US have caused this question to hit a little too close to home.
In the end I have to go with pancakes, but the decision splits my spirit to the bone.
Waffles with honey; syrup; jam; cream cheese; but the TOPPING that is #1 is ... Nutella!
Pancakes > French Toast > Waffles. Yeah, I said it. Waffles are bottom tier (I'll still eat them though).
I like my waffles soft, not crispy (which I've been told is the way they're supposed to be). So I guess I like waffle-shaped pancakes.
I enjoy waffles, but nothing beats a good chocolate chip pancake!
You and I can no longer be friends.
WAFFLES ALL THE WAY!
Each square is like the perfect pocket for chocolate chips or blueberries.
I like waffles but you can't beat a crepe style pancake. You get one of those stuffed with strawberries, sour cream and whipped cream, you're in heaven.
Waffles. holds the butter, holds the syrup, tastes heavenly...
I went with pancakes, but when I have an antique waffle maker, It would be waffles.
