That must be a pretty recent development. I bought a new copy not even a year ago with no Legends banner.

I was also half joking. I haven't been paying attention to which books have gotten the banner, so it was just a bad guess.

@DarthInternous, have you read every Star Wars adult novel? Legends and Canon? Only Del Rey? Do you read the Disney–Lucasfilm Press young adult / young reader novels in the new canon?

Yes. Every Legends novel and every canon novel (adult/YA/middle-grade) period. There's a few of the middle grade or "chapter books" (as they might have been called) from the Legends era (mostly from Scholastic) that I missed, but otherwise, everything.

    Any particular reason you asked?

(Btw, there's no specific requirement for working on SW books to have read that widely or extensively. I'm sure we'd be open to hiring someone who'd never actually read a SW book at all, if their other credentials were in order. Though a familiarity with Star Wars overall and a relative fondness for it would indeed be desirable. But in case anyone here has designs on SW work at some point, there's no exam or test or baseline # of books you need to have read.)

That’s super impressive! Any favorite time periods?

Separate question. Do the publishers have anything to do with which novels end up getting translated Into comics? I think it’s mostly thrawn to date...

Not really, I was kind of wondering if there was any publisher bias in your reading, but I figured you were well read, and I'm sure it helps with the work and hopefully makes it more enjoyable!

    Favorite Legends novel?

Favorite time periods? Not really. I'm more drawn to cool story ideas. Doesn't matter to me when they take place. It's all Star Wars.

Re: books to comics. Not really. We're friendly with the comic folks and we talk about projects and info a lot, but don't really try to tell each other what to do. If a book is to be adapted into a comic it'll likely come at their behest. Though we always like when that happens, so we're open to helping with that if we're ever asked.

I always just say I,Jedi because it was the first SW novel I ever read. And I prefer not to discuss my favorite SW things publicly, so I'll just leave it at that.

Last one (for awhile). When LucasFilm is developing a novel project, is it a collaborative project between LucasFilm, Del Rey, and Disney–Lucasfilm Press to determine the best format and publisher (adult, audio-book, young adult, young reader), or is the project given to the publisher without Del Rey and Disney–Lucasfilm Press having a lot of interaction with each other?

Is there any chance for a Bloodlines or Lost Stars sequel in the future?

You might not get an answer here today - it's a holiday in the US.

Generally a collaborative project to one degree or another.

There's always a chance for sequels or follow-ups. When/if they will happen, I could not say.

Editors don't observe normal holidays. Holidays for editors are just a chance to catch up on reading.

After it’s released Amazon US may have the entire book available as a look inside if History repeats.

The "entire book" is never available via Look Inside. It may appear to be, but one cannot read the whole book via look inside.

That was just a sarcastic jab at Amazon. Nothing about the books availability. Sorry if the joke didn’t land the right way.

Is Del Rey assuming only hardcover enthusiasts are symmetrists?

How long should I wait holding out for a paperback before buying the hardcover?
