You [b]MUST[/b] register to nominate or vote in the awards. You register to vote once by sending a PM that says "registration" to the [link=http://boards.theforce.net/ASP/user.asp?usr=Voter_Registration]Voter_Registration[/link] sock. Please register as soon as possible.


[color=blueviolet][b]Rules For Nomination:[/b][/color]

1. Any story that has won in a previous awards ceremony is ineligible for the category/ies it has been awarded in for this and future awards. Please see the [link=http://boards.theforce.net/fan_fiction_resource/b10304/21083467/p1/?5]Fan Fiction Index[/link] for a list of past winners.

2. Any author who has won in the "Author" or "New Author" category cannot win in that category again. "New Author" is anyone who has posted (begun) their first story between December 1, 2005 and May 31, 2006.

3. Jaya Solo cannot be nominated for anything in Before The Saga. (Which is good because she didn?t write anything in Before. ;) )

4. Any story posted on, begun, or completed within the eligibility period is eligible for nomination unless it is an on-going story that has won in a category before (see rule #1). The eligibility period is December 1, 2005 to May 31, 2006. This includes stories posted in challenge threads.

5. Stories that have been reposted from "Classic" are not eligible if they were finished on the "Classic" board even if they have been reposted to one of the eras. Please do not repost a story completed in "Classic" in an attempt to make it eligible again. If a story from "Classic" is still going, it is eligible for nomination in any category it is eligible for, in the era it would be posted in if reposted.

6. Stories that have been reposted from a challenge are not eligible if they were finished or reposted before the eligibility period. Please do not repost a challenge story in an attempt to make it eligible again. If a story from a challenge is still going, or was reposted within the eligibility period, it is eligible for nomination in any category it is eligible for, in the era it was reposted in.

7. All nominated stories ("Potentials") will be listed in a "Master List". Once they have reached the requisite [b]four[/b] nominations, they will be pulled from the "master list" and put into a "Qualifying Nominees" list. Stories in the Best Most Underrated Category only need one nomination to qualify.

8. If, by the close of nominations, a category has only one Qualifying nominee (or no qualifying nominees) and several Potentials, all stories in that category are taken to the voting round.

9. [b]No self-nominations. No nominating with socks.[/b] Nominating with a sock will result in a short-term ban and all of your nominations not counted. A sock is an alternate/additional JC username.

10. With the PM of nominations, please include links to stories as well as name of story and author names for each category - genre, length, character. For the author categories, please include a link to the author's profile. The link should be a broken link so it's easier for us to code. To break a link

Last-minute dumb newbie question ahoy: At any time do Revan and the Exile from KOTOR count as OCs and not canon characters?

 

Um, if they're not created by you, and are created by some "official" capacity, then they'd be considered Canon. So anyone from KotoR that was created already for the game, I'd say they weren't OCs. Make sense?

 

Sorry, yeah. It just muddies the waters slightly when a character can have a completely different name and whatever characteristics the author pleases and have it still be considered a non-original character.

Honestly, I don't know much about KotoR, but if the game created them to where everyone that plays it would know about them, then no, they'd be canon characters and not original characters.

As for how people characterize them... well... just about everyone has a different idea of how people act even about main characters like Anakin, Obi-Wan and so on. It's all in the eyes of the writer.

Much as I love that someone nominated my story, Ecstacy, it was originally posted in July last year and then reposted in its own thread in Jan. So it's not eligible.

I'm honoured that 'Of Unique Skills and Serenity' has been nominated under Best Humour - but it was written last April, and so doesn't qualify for this year's awards, I think.

 

What does underrated mean as far as nominations for fics?

 

To qualify as underrated, a story must have less than an average of 6 replies per post.
