The whole point of The Bad Batch was to explain Palpatine cloning himself or something to retroactively explain J.J. Abrams' terrible slop of a movie. The whole Omega, Mount Tantiss, Doctor Hemlock thing - the main plot of the series.

Since Tales of the Underworld was released, has anybody re-watched the holocron arc?

I rewatched some Cad Bane scenes, but as I had already said in my TOTU reviews, these shorts did not really change my perspective on the character, as they did not really relate to anything else. Just a tacked on backstory that he never really needed, IMO. Maybe it could have been different if we had gotten the Cad Bane vs Boba arc. I prefer to think that Cad Bane developed his own style and quirks, rather than copying some guy from his childhood.

I’m rewatching The Wrong Jedi arc and I’m at the final episode of it.

I don’t really like how the Jedi are written in this arc, especially the Chamber of Judgment scene. I know they are leaning heavily into showing the Jedi’s flaws & planting the seeds for Anakin’s turn in ROTS, but still…

The Chamber of Judgment scene is so disgusting how the Jedi handle it. It’s like a kangaroo court. How they are all positioned cartoonishly high above Ahsoka, the defendant. The clone ripping her beads off.

Reminds me of how some high-demand religious institutions go about “excommunicating” people. Just yucky.

Not much they could do. They are politically tied to the Republic and its military, so they have to be subservient to the laws, chain of command and not play favorites, especially given the public tension surrounding the Jedi and the war. As unpleasant as it may be, circumstantial evidence pointed against Ahsoka, so they just had to do what needed to be done, given that Tarkin was aggressively on them demanding to give her away to the Republic tribunal, since the victims were military personnel, so it becomes a Republic matter, and not Jedi internal matter. It's not like they wanted to do it, it's not like they liked it - which was made very clear. All of it played right into Palpatine and Tarkin's hands, who were eager to convict a Jedi and present it to the public. The Jedi sent out Anakin and Plo Koon to catch her and investigate, specifically to protect Ahsoka, so that she could be in Jedi's custody where she is safe, and not in the Republic military custody, or worse - get killed - which was also explicitly stated.

As for the Chamber of Judgement, I mean, in most courts judges are positioned higher than everyone else and have utmost authority and respect. If you are brought there, then you likely have done something bad. So, visually, it does look like the defendant is being examined by the Masters, from above, like under microscope. Also, that was not a clone. That was a Jedi Temple guard - a member of the Order on a ceremonial duty.

This arc is great. It's a terrible situation, but there were plenty of reasons to understand why the Jedi did what they did, and how compromised they've become by the war and Palpatine's Republic that was already an Empire in everything but name. The whole feel, tone, atmosphere of the arc, the final scene as Ahsoka walks away into the sunset - this entire arc felt like a perfect prelude for Revenge of the Sith. It connects everything: Anakin's resentment at being denied the rank of master, him feeling lost and no one trusting him, Palpatine manipulating him into thinking that the Jedi are afraid to lose their power, people cheering as Palpatine declares that all the Jedi will be hunted down, Mace Windu exclaiming that Palpatine has control of the courts. We've seen it all in this arc, and more. It still remains one of my favorite arcs amongst all of Star Wars TV.

@Force Nexus Yes, you are right it was a Temple guard. I still didn't like it. :p

And i know the judges are seated higher than defendants IRL, but the Jedi are so high above her in that scene it's absurd. [face_laugh] it's almost like it's a psychological thing.

Well, it probably is. It conveys that you cannot conceal anything. You are on full display. If you are guilty, there is nowhere to hide. You are completely seen, both literally and figuratively. The defendant knows they can't lie their way out of it. Which again, I believe Chamber of Judgement is the last resort thing, if a Jedi did something really bad, which ends in their exile. We, as the audience, know that Ahsoka is innocent, which is why it feels so oppressive and unfair. The Jedi don't know that, and their vision being clouded by the Dark Side ever since AOTC doesn't help them.
