I have heard from several sources that GL plans to put Hayden Christiansen and Natalie Portman in ROTJ at the end. I just thought I would post it, I think its a great idea however. But only if the Love theme is played during it. I think that would be the perfect ending to a perfect saga.

You can read everyone's theories as to what that new scene is here. And from what we've heard, it's ony Natalie. Could you provide a link or something that says Hayden will be there too?

If you really want to see the original version and an updated version on the DVD, expect to pay upwards of fifty dollars for each film. And that will screw it over for those of us who would rather just buy the updated version for less that thirty dollars.

5darth2maul1: I read your question concerning the Official VCDs. You do know the VCDs are in Pan-&-Scam, right? These VCDs do look and sound better then the Pan-&-Scam tapes, but there nothing when compared to watching the trilogy in widescreen. Plus, a problem you may have when watching VCDs recorded in Pal is that some players tend to cut a little bit off the top, making actors loos their heads. This happened with my SONY, but not my JVC. Just thought you should know before hunting them down.

Look in your DVD Instruction Manual to find out if your DVD Player plays VCDs. Some will say it right on the DVD tray. I can tell you right now that PS2 doesn't play VCDs.

Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help.

Eventually the PS2 will play everything. The PS13 will be a total home entertainment system. :p

I am the proud owner of the original STAR WARS collector's edition three laserdisc set. I wouldn't part with these for all of the tea in China, I even have an unopened Pioneer Laserdisc player on hand for when and if my existing unit goes down permanently. STAR WARS was the movie that got me started in home entertainment systems LONG before the advent of Dolby Digital/THX/etc. My kids are even WAY into this saga, so much so that my 18 year-old daughter has seen AOTC 6 times already! When Lucas releases whatever he plans to release on DVD I will be one of the first to purchase them, but my OT Laserdiscs will still be my "official" reference set!!!

After, realizing that IV,V,VI would not be on dvd for a while I decided to compensate. On ebay the sets went for $150! So I did a little snooping and found a site called d9movie.com On this website I bought the 5 star star wars set ($36) and an AOTC um early arrival ($11) for a total of $65 (the extra money was for 2 day shipping from Malaysia which I requested) The site was excellent and my order came all the way from Malaysia in just 2 days.

As for the dvds themselves, you get the basics. Every trilogy dvd(3 total) comes with DTS/Dolby 5.1 sound and the 1997 trailer. It also comes with scene selection. I must be clear, these dvds are the SE versions not the original. I hate the greedo thing but cannot get enough of the fireworks over Coruscant!

Picture Quality-Superb, feels like a dvd, not like a cheap vcd or tape. One slight problem. These are copied from lds so there is a tiny 1/2 second freeze like once in the movie (I guess so the ld could be turned over)

Sound-You combine THX and Dolby 5.1 and you have one hell of a soundtrack. If you have a surround sound system, you will feel like you are there!

Presentation-The cases were nice with coverart and a good summary on the back. Particulary nice is the dvd cover art and the menu which has sound, etc. To find good views of these type on ebay "star wars 5 star dvd"(but don't buy it from there)

AOTC-fair quality, trailer, just nice to have but it does have DTS 5.1(somehow)

Conclusion-You do not know power until you can hold all 5 star wars movies in dvd in your hand. Instead of waiting 4 years or buying the lucas vcd crap, get this one. You can get it from d9movie.com or dvdexpress2u.com ENJOY AND MAY THE HATE FOR LUCAS'S IGNORANCE BE WITH YOU, ALWAYS

That pause you mentioned in your review could have been the layer switch. The pause is very normal.

Early release? Don't LucasFilm employees come onto this site every once and a while to see if people are giving out links to where they can get pirated stuff?

First, let me say that I don't necessarily condone piracy. I would never buy a copy of AOTC. I can see it in the theater, or I can wait till the DVD comes out in November; however, what Lucas is doing with the OT is ridiculous. He is making us buy copy after copy of vhs tapes just to see his "vision". I currently own three versions of the trilogy on vhs, one on vcd, TPM on vhs and DVD, and another copy of star wars on vhs from 1987. I have given him enough money to justify going pirate. I for one don't want to wait until 2005 to have the OT on dvd. I want them now. If i have to purchase a pirated copy, then so be it. I am left with no alternative. Also, I will be the first in line in 2005 to buy the archival edition of the OT. I'm just tired of waiting for George to get it together.

My question is this: Has anyone else ever ordered from sites like D9Movie.com? Are the DVD's really of a decent quality? Better than vhs or vcd? I also don't want to get taken, or go to jail. I just want to be able to watch these movies in the best format available. A few experiences would be helpful.

    Thanks

I'm just sayin' so because the people in charge of theforce.net can get in trouble for allowing users to post that kind of stuff. My friend had connections to LucasFilm and managed to get a VCD on Aotc. He got to see it two days before the release. Unlike other stuff that has gotten out this had all the finished CGI.

I say we're entitled to own the OT on DVD even if from a pirated source. I am so sick of how many times I have bought the trilogy on VHS (3 times) and I can't see why it would be a problem. Sure I'll buy the ultimate editions when they come out, but I cannot stand watching these movies on VHS anymore!!!!!!

    No problem 5darth2maul1! :)

Let me just say, I felt every release of the OT on VHS, with the exception of the last, was justified. The original release looked like crap, so I feel we needed the THX versions and in widescreen. Original Special Edition release, again, needed. The only release I thought was unnecessary was the last release of the Special Editions with the Behind-The-Scenes look at Episode II. And if it bothers you all that much, don't buy them. It's not like Lucas has a gun to your head saying, "Buy my last release of the trilogy, or else..."

    LordSortha,

I understand you completely, HOWEVER, back at those times buying those was implied that they were going out of print and that they wouldn't be released again!

    Example:
OT on VHS went out of print for a while with that nice coverart by CBS/FOX home video. Naturally that was the first time I had received it. Then they announced that the THX versions were coming out some years later... AND in widescreen! JOY! So I had to buy that one because it was finally out in widescreen and it also said in their ads, ONE LAST TIME... Of course what we didn't know was that meant ONE LAST TIME... BEFORE LUCAS ANNOUNCES THE SE trilogy! DOH! Since I am a man who likes the updated releases I needed to get the latest and greatest in widescreen and in THX. When they announced it AGAIN to come out on VHS for the Trilogy... I didn't budge for that. I knew it was the same trilogy with some lame extras. So it wasn't that I bought them just because, it was because I thought at that time it was going to be the last version out. Boy was I wrong....

This is the rub, though, they didn't release the OT after the THX versions. That was the last time we'd see the original, un-touched trilogy again. Now we can't get them. All we have now are the Special Editions. Lucas wasn't lying about being able to buy the OT "one last time" there. I feel like an idiot now because when the THX versions came out, I was still one of those dorks that thought widescreen cut off the picture. I don't remember the ads for the Special Editions saying that it would be the last they're going to be released. Plus, Lucas said that he was going to make the Special Editions back when he released the THX versions. I believe he said this in a STAR WARS: INSIDER.

Will the PS2 play PAL format DVDs like the Star Wars ones on d9movie.com?

EDIT: I looked in the instruction manual it can't.

I wonder why AOTC is in PAL format but the trilogy is in NTSC format?

AOTC-I bought this dvd out of pure curiousity and it is probably the first and last bootleg I will ever buy.

Trilogy-Lucas made me so sick with his 4 year waiting period that I decided to shine a glimmer of hope for people who would normally have to wait five more years. I am not a fanatic pirater, just a star wars fanatic. I will still see AOTC in theatre, it was just an add on to my order. The feds don't tear open the package unless it is a bomb or drugs. D9video is a good site but I have no interest in doing further buisness with them.

I will also proably buy every offical dvd to come out.

Edit-AOTC can only work on computers with DVD players or PAL DVD players which is okay for me but bad for those who rely souly on normal dvd players including PSX.

Ok, heres a thought I had..
I can wait til 2005 for the OT
but in the meantime I would love to see a DVD with the following:

"From Star Wars to Jedi" (the old hour-long behind the scenes special released on Fox VHS)
An hour or so long special documenting the SFX for the Special Edition
A few "lost scenes" from the old "Behind the Magic CD" (i.e. Biggs, Alternate Cantina)
The trailers for the OT (originals and SE release)
A good interview with Lucas pre-SE
An interview with John Williams on the music
A short feature on the toys (20-25min on the original figs, 10min on the 1995-Present Line)
and maybe the first world exclusive look at Episode III (whether it be 30 sec of rough footage or a few still pics)

I think Lucas could release this around Christmas or maybe Spring 2003
I know I would pay $30-35 for this

Let me hear some feedback on this idea
