I'm also looking forward for Jabba's original rock-pop song.

    "Jedi Rocks" is unbereable.

    And yes, maybe someday...

I'm fairly indifferent about this but at least everyone else will finally shut up about it.

Is this a sign of the apocolypse??

I just can't believe it! Thanks to "overwhelming demand". Great job, folks!

    OT.COM, thank you all!

The only good thing about this is the original ending to ROTJ and I don't mean Vader's ghost but the Ewok music. Damn I <3 that music.

Well, there goes more of my (parents') money. :p

And is it too much to hope that the whining will finally END?

Can we as a community all come together now?

I mean, for the haters, you got what you wanted.

But, let's not kid ourselves. I'm sure someone will have a serious problem with the set once it debuts.

It won't end. I hope it ends, but it won't.

Viva la Star Wars, damn it!

Keep the bonus disc for the 2004 release.

This release INCLUDES both the Unaltered Versions and the 2004 Versions.

It's a choose your own Star Wars adventure situation that most wanted (not me, but most).

Awesome! I've had them on VCD for years, but still, great news. I look forward to experiencing them in greater quality.

The sole reasoning for them being released after all is to raise funds for Star Wars 3D, no doubt. A win-win situation I suppose.

I am one of the lovers of the OT, but still really likes the PT, but this is awesome news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks George! Now no more debates on who shoot first, who should be the ghost in ROTJ, is it 6 or 3 movies? Who cares anymore!

Everyone has some version to make their SW experience complete, here is mine:

PT + O-OT = The perfect SW saga

I'm still unsure what the quality level will be in terms of being "unaltered" vs. "cleaned up".

p.s. What's the statute of limitations on false advertising? I recall that the 1995 "Faces" release promised/warned "the last time you'll be able to own the originals" or something to that effect. :p

If he leaves the quality of the orginals it'll be pretty bad, as it's pretty faded, but this is still good news! I doubt I'll watch them except for ESB's "Bring My Shuttle!", but it'll be great to have them. And the movies could be coming out in theaters again, all six of them or three? I forgot what the rumor said.

Wait, these will be sold as a duo? Original and the 2004 SE?

So the original OT box, apart from perhaps the bonus disc, will now become obselete? Son of a *****. Have us buy the original box and now sell double features so you can ask more money for them. Charming.

Well, they did include Episode IV: A New Hope.
    So I guess that's true.

    Wait! Which is real now?

Now I may hate Lucas and all he stands for!

I've been waiting for this! [face_devil]

This is definitely great news. I own and have watched the 1995 editions many times but even those are not the original originals. Plus, this way, everyone can be happy. :p

    Dont even go there! :p

As far as quality I dont see any reason why it shouldnt be the same or close to the 2004 dvd, since the starting point for the cleanup was the original edition. However, the fact that this is the true 1977 version without the "Episode IV" may indicate that they will be using an alternate print of some kind but i dont see why they couldnt simply splice in the opening crawl into the 2004 print that that they remastered since that should be the only difference. Whatever the case, the original negative was remastered in 1997 and im sure theres a bit of grain and scracthes in there from the pre-digital correction days and if thats what we have to live with thats fine with me. The other possibility is that they are actually taking a new, never before released on video print from 1977 with the original crawl which would mean it must be quite dirty. But like I said, theres not much reason to do this since the print has been remastered in 1997 and digitally restored in 2004. The statement about sourcing Lucasfilm archives could be interpreted either way. Personally I'm hoping it means that since the 2004 restoration was from a print that didnt have the original pre-Episode IV crawl they simply had to track down that element, clean it up and splice it into the print. Hopefully thats the case but if we have to live with a dirtier print it certainly will help the "nostalgia" factory even if its not quite what i want.

I agree, great for everyone. Surely the double-release/higher price should not be a surprise. At least everyone now has the choice.

And you wonderd why some people (me) hate Lucas and no longer like Star Wars.

I wonder if they'll use an ESB print that includes the "lucky you don't taste good" line or the alternate.

You know that's one of the first things I was wondering. I liked it the original way better.
