Actually, I was considering it :p
I tried tying Knoll's character into the movie as hard as I could. Mentioning him being stuck on Coruscant for the Grievous battle, and then having him hear/react to Padme dying. I felt those were big events in the story and would affect anyone on Coruscant. The battle at least.

    This new guy... Sheesh.
Turd Mc Butthead wandered the streets of Mos Espa wondering why no one wanted an action figure of him. He was later sat on by a Bantha and died immediately- his ridiculous helmet providing no protection.

New one is posted: Magaloof, the "What the?!" alien joyriding ina stolen airpseeder on Coruscant who almost collides with Obi-wan as he's dangling from Zam's assassin droid.

Here was my submission for the Mos Espa Spaceman:

    Dallon Grenn

Dallon Grenn was an orbital miner from Druckenwell who transferred to Tatooine to work in the nearby Obana asteroid belt.

He sported a modified environmental suit that cooled against the Tatooine heat and used armor plating to guard against mining punctures, the helmet providing unhindered vision. It was not uncommon to spot him wandering the streets of the Mos Espa fully suited.

When the Obana mining shut down and Dallon was low on credits, he met a reckless pilot and local trader named Rycar Ryjerd and soon concocted a plan.

Combining Dallon's copies of the Obana Belt mappings with Rycar's piloting skills, they lured two unsuspecting Nubian ships into the asteroid field- killing all aboard. Dallon and Rycar then seized salvage rights after the "accident".

They returned to Tatooine and sold the salvaged parts, including a T-14 hyperdrive, to a local junk dealer in Mos Espa for a significant amount.

Afterwards, a Nubian Jedi named Roth-Del Masona began looking into the incident at the behest of the victims' families. He was forced to withdraw after the investigation was overshadowed by united Tusken attacks on the outskirts and further obscured by the transfer of power following Gardulla the Hutt's death.

During the Clone Wars, Rycar took to weapons smuggling, such as the delivery of outdated wardroids to Separatists on Teghirios. Afterwards, Dallon parted ways with Rycar, no longer wishing to pursue the same dangerous trade as the Bimm.

Returning to Teghirios after the CIS had relocated it's forces to Mirgoshir, he met Annif Jem, whom he soon married and fathered two children with. She later became an innocent victim to a psychopathic Jedi hunter named Del Korrot.

Dollan's children followed Imperial careers. His daughter, Kallu, was stationed to a naval base at Shraden V while his son, Chandrex, was assigned to a weapons research station over Fest- both inspired by their father's story of how Darth Vader avenged their mother's murder by killing Korrot.

    Nice one, Quest! Here's mine:

    Drefla Nek

For the death-daring pirates, smugglers, and star hoppers who frequent Mos Espa, the few honest spacers visiting the lawless spaceport are often figures of amusement and ridicule. But the sight of Derfla Nek wandering around Mos Espa's dusty streets in an oversized, antiquated, Mandalorian-green Czerka ME-87 space suit was enough to reduce even his fellow honest crew mates to fits of laughter.

Nek hails from Douglas VI, a world in the remote Centrality region of space. For over ten generations the Neks have been spacers?and six of them have worn the ME-87. The suit is sturdy in spite of its age, and can protect against vacuum and most types of radiation. The suit has saved his life more than once during his years on the cargo ship Zenobia?radiation leaks are common aboard the ancient craft. Nek has made the Dennogra-Tatooine-Rion-Kessel-Zebitrope run for over a decade, and like his father before him, will probably continue to do so until the day he dies.

On Tatooine, however, Nek ultimately has the last laugh. The climate controls on the ME-87 allow Nek to enjoy a temperature approximating the Douglasian spring, while his dishonest peers bake in the hot Tatooine suns.

I hid references to all my siblings and my dad in this one. :D

Just wanted to drop by and say I think it's very cool the folks here are coming out with both guns blazing for this What's the Story contest. As I mentioned in my blog, I'll have a little congratulatory entry for the published winners, and do my best to work in some refs to the winning entries in any of my future official Star Wars material.

    Keep up the good work!

    Take care,

Chandrex Grenn and his sister's story (though she was unnamed, so i created that) comes from the Bounty Hunter Glaaxy Guide, which I exrtrapolated into their father slightly.

The Obana belt comes from the Rycar's Run RPG online supplement, which assited in helping me work in Rycar himself, my favorite CCG running-joke, as well as providing a good zero-G mining explaination for his suit. I also like the idea that, because of his past association with Grenn, Rycar set up his base from the supplement in Obana.

The Nubian/hyperdrive/Watto connection is my favorite part, because it makes Watto's line "Nubian, eh? We have lots of that." funnier ::)

Roth's inclusion is attempt #1 at canonizing the Nubian guy joke. The tusken raids referring to the events of Outlander, and Gardulla's death I believe is from Bounty Hunter.

The Clone Wars seemed like a good way to explain how Ryucar became the weapons smuggler his CCG describes him as. Teghirios was a central planet in a SW online sim/rpg I ran for 5 years on AOL, the wardroids a reference to that, and of course, furthering the mystery of the Mirogshir Clone Wars campaign ;)

Jem is an original character, but Korot is not- I got his story (and Vader's subsequent killing of him) from his entry in the CUSWE, thoguh I forget offhand where he originally came from.

Lastly I tied Chandrex's station to Fest and thought the Korot/Vader situation would be a greta way to explain why both Grenns went into an imperial career.

By comparison, I actually think Magaloof will be the hardest of the three so far.

    EDIT-

Thats sound awesome, Abel, it's appreciated ::)

    Grimo Slen -

A native of Balmorra, Grimo Slen distinguished himself as a galactic energy prospector, often travelling to volatile planets and using the raw energy of crashing waves and bursting volcanoes to fill huge, industrial-size power cells ready for resale. Haunting out of the way worlds such as Mustafar, Drexel, Kintan and Varn in his heavily shielded, heavily modified superfreighter, the Crystal Dip, Slen became known as "the Mobile Sarapin", a nod to the sprawling energy collection facilities on the planet.

Slen happened upon a volcanic, radioactive hell, named on the charts as Qat Chrystac. Donning an enviro-suit, Slen scouted the planet and was amazed by the sheer energy levels radiated by the nightmare lava that spewed from the world's fissured surface. Slen had discovered his own heaven in the energy-saturated world - the Dip sat there for weeks at a time, soaking up gigajoules of power.

Unfortunately, Slen's health began to deteriorate as he spent more and more time on Qat Chrystac. Even on temperate, habitable planets, he was forced to wear an advanced, if somewhat embarrassing, pressure helmet, and a supporting back harness. Eventually, Slen had to make a decision and leave Qat Chrystac for good.

Slen sold off the remaining Chrystac power cells, often to desperate buyers such as Ben Quadrinaros, an amateur who hoped to cobble together a racer in time for the Boonta Eve race, following a bet with the drunken Boles Roor. Unfortunately, thanks in part to sabotage by Ark Roose, the power cell failed during the race.

The Empire - and their monopoly of galactic power distribution - proved to be bad business for Slen, who was reduced to trawling spaceport cantinas in the Dip. On Crseih Station, Slen told the Qat Chrystac story to a sympathetic Rebel leader, who then led his cell in a daring hijack of the Crystal Dip, burying the ship deep into the crust of the planet. Protected by
heavy shielding and volatile lava, it would make for an excellent Rebel outpost.

Qat Chrystac's backstory coming from from the Last Command sourcebook.

The CUSWE (referencing ITW: AOTC) says that:

this small-time thief was active on the planet Coruscant during the last decades of the Old Republic. When Obi-Wan Kenobi caught Zam Wesell's modified droid ASN-121, he was dragged through the skies of Coruscant and nearly collided with Magaloof, who was joyriding in a stolen airspeeder.

What gives? Will they end up implementing this into the final entry, or just write-over this backstory?

"The Crystal Dip", I like it ::)

They're not going to overwrite Magaloof's existing info- you have to integrate that.

Magaloof's story tidbit, btw, is found in the Coruscant speeder chase map in ITWOAOTC.

Actually, going by what waslisted on TOS and in ITWOAOTC, he's not specifically described as a thief- CUSWE's entry extrapolated by themselves I think.

However, going for a "joyride" in a stolen speeder implies he actually intentionally stole it, I suppose.

Can't wait untill TOS makes the update with these.

Hyperspace sucks :p They finaly come up with something that I am actualy interested in :p

    Spoilers? No way.

Trailers/CW put on a few days before for everyone else? I can live with that. I can wait :)

Short stories? :( But they're starting to have ones I've read in Insider, so I'd only want that for the older stories.

RoF? Interesting. But I can live without.

    Blogs? Not interested.

    "What's the story?" I want it! :_| :p

All these entries soud great :)

Mine was a bit out there. I had the idea of a radiation suit, and the rest just sort of cascaded from there. So, the Man From Mos Espa:

It is a well-known fact that Hutts can be extraordinarily vicious in competition, but the depths of depravity that Gardulla the Hutt sank to in her career went beyond even their bounds of decency. It was in one of these plots against her rival Jabba that she called upon the services of Tal Mirin.

Mirin was once a weapons and explosives specialist in the employ of Haor Chall Engineering. He was fired after being caught selling heavy weaponry to terrorist organizations such as the Nebula Front, but managed to steal plans for a baradium bomb before leaving. Such a high-ticket item necessitated an important and wealthy buyer, and after making inquiries he was pointed in the direction of Gardulla. When he contacted her she detailed a plan to destroy Mos Espa and thereby cripple Jabba?s criminal empire. She believed the baradium bomb was the perfect tool for the job, and so she hired Mirin to obtain the materials, build the weapon, and smuggle it in. He accomplished this by bringing in one inconspicuous part at a time and assembling them in one of Gardulla?s podracer garages. The last component needed was the baradium core itself, which he purchased from a certain Vilmarh Grahrk. Grahrk promised that it was shielded and perfectly safe, but taking no chances, Mirin wore a radiation suit to protect himself as he carried it through the streets. He was less concerned, however, with any effect the radiation might have on the inhabitants of Mos Espa. Once assembled, he planted the bomb in an abandoned shop, set the detonator, and headed for the outskirts to await the blast, while Gardulla made her own excuses and left for Mos Eisley. When the time came, however, the bomb did not detonate. Realizing that Grahrk had sold him a dud (it was, in fact, only durasteel) and Gardulla would take the price out of his own hide, Mirin quickly caught a ship offplanet. Still in possession of a number of Haor Chall trade secrets, he eventually decided to go into the arms business for himself.

Yeah, it's weird. The lesson: don't make stories from the first thing off the top of my head late at night. ;)

I like the connection with the hyperdrive, Quest.

This new guy's interesting, though. An existing name and partial story, but no species.

New one's up. Ok guys, this is it: Janu Godalhi. That's right, Pablo Hidalgo's character from ROTS. We'll need to give him a super backstory--he deserves one! :)

Oh, and here's mine from last time:

    Magaloof

Magaloof never really wanted to be a criminal. In fact, all the Toag had dreamed of his entire life was setting up a frozen treat emporium on Coruscant, selling everything from Chad Bars to Blue Milkshakes, and perhaps even dabbling in that most exotic of confections...ice cream.

Leaving his home planet of Kidd III, Magaloof embarked on a voyage to Coruscant with his life savings, hoping to meet with investors and make his dream a reality. Unbeknownst to him, however, a younger Toag named Negalaab was making the same trip. Negalaab was the newly appointed second in command of the M'iiyoom gang, a group of third-rate crooks notorious only for their deadly leader, the treacherous H'nemthe Yiff Vore.

Vore had recently been apprehended by Coruscant Security, and her gang?now lost and directionless without their leader?was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Negalaab and further instructions. Unfortunately, most Toags are identical, and when Negalalaab was surreptitiously arrested by Judicial forces, the innocent Magaloof was mistaken for the gangster. Magaloof mistook the motley group of criminals for investors, but he soon learned the truth.

Unable to reveal his true identity, lest the gang "eliminate" him for knowing too much, Magaloof led the M'iiyooms on a crime spree across Coruscant in hopes that the police would arrest them all. While personally stealing the speeder of a Senator's mistress, Magaloof gaped at the unlikely sight of Obi-Wan Kenobi dangling from a flying droid. Ironically, it was only Magaloof himself who was arrested. While in prison, he helped Negalaab and Vore to escape. The two criminals returned to their hideout...only to be followed by Judicials, who arrested the entire gang. Magaloof was acquitted of all charges, but opted to try his luck on a different world instead.

I endeavored to provide a continuity fix for the contradiction between ITWOAOTC & C&TCW over who owned the Outlander Nightclub. Plus, I threw in my favorite Crypt Keeper-looking alien- Rayno Vaca, the Coruscant Taxi Driver ::)

    Magaloof

This (somewhat dim-witted) Solokinian performed odd-end jobs as a living on Coruscant.

After one such job at a shuttle dock, he met the Tarnab named Kee'per Vaca and his rather unscrupulous brother, Rayno, who got him a job as a taxi driver.

Later, Rayno used his contacts to introduce Magaloof to the Shistavanen crimelord, Volven Roxe, who hired him as a personal driver based on his relatively quick reflexes.

However, as Roxe rarely ventured into public, Magaloof spent much of his time at nightclubs the crimelord owned- including the Outlander, a club in the Useru District managed by the Baath Brothers.

It was here he first tried a Death Stick, discovering that, instead of the wave of bliss most beings experienced, it awoke his (believed undeveloped) second pair of eyes (located between his horns), surprisingly giving him limited abilities of foresight.

The Baaths learned of this peculiar trait through Kee'per and quickly began plotting to use clueless Magaloof to their advantage by having him predict Roxe's next foray into public- giving them time in advance to arrange alibis during the time of his "accidental" death from a "misfiring" garbage chute.

As the Baaths assumed control of Roxe's organization, they kept Magaloof (unaware of the larger plots unfolding around him) in their employment. They used the Solokinian's talents to predict the outcome of key games to turn them to the house's favor.

Not one much for gambling, Magaloof took to stealing speeders to pass the time. It was during one such joyride that, despite having recently used a Death Stick, he witnessed something not even he was able to predict: a small droid with what looked like a Jedi Knight dangling from it, thousands of feet above the city street!

While he had seen Jedi many times on Coruscant, never had he seen one in such a precarious situation. Later, Magaloof tried recounting the event to his Death Sticks dealer, but the slythmonger was just babbling on about rethinking his life.

here's my story on the spaceman... i didn't have time to write up Magaloof.

Larko Borin didn't set out to be a vigilante - he once
had aspired to be a prosecutor on his homeworld of
Ukio. Growing up in a farming community, Larko had a
sharp mind and a keen desire to lock up criminals --
like the swindlers who gotten away with his family's
holdings in a land swap scheme. Larko began attending
a law school on a Core world with lofty notions of
defending the good citizenry from growing crime.

Once Larko began his first apprenticeship, he found
that the Republic's court system was rotting.
Criminals intimidated judges, and bought off juries.
Lawyers that prosecuted the worst scum tended to die
young. Back on Ukio, Larko ended up as chief
prosecutor in a murder trial of Rhydosan Jaicul, after
his predecessor disappeared mysteriously. One night,
Rhydosan tried to bribe Larko. When that failed,
Rhydosan drew a blaster, but Larko?s blaster was
quicker. Realizing that justice could be served by a
blaster, Larko left his legal training and began as a
vigilante, tracking down criminals who had bought off
    the court system.

Buying a used space suit and a tiny ship, Larko Borin
began pursuing thieves and murderers on lawless worlds
of the Outer Rim. His sense of justice slowly blurred
over time as he had to start taking jobs in order to
keep his ship fueled. Following a pair of cutthroats
to Tatooine, Larko arrived in Mos Espa just prior to
the historic Boonta Eve podrace where Anakin Skywalker
was the first human to ever win. Jabba the Hutt was
impressed by Larko's skills after he gunned down the
two murderers, who worked for one of Jabba's rivals.
Larko took jobs for Jabba, hunting down those who had
crossed both Jabba and the law.

Settling on Nar Shaddaa, Larko Borin made a modest
living as the "vigilante spaceman" and eventually
married a mechanic named Dwana, who bore him a son,
Danz. Danz took up his father's line of work, and
became an impressive bounty hunter and starship gunner
in his own right, wearing a space suit similar to his
    father's.

Right now the current story is on Janu Godhalhi, opera patron.

keeping track of the story people:
    1. John Knoll's cameo as an opera patron in ROTS.
    2. Mos Espa space man in TPM
    3. Magaloof, Mr. "What the?" - Coruscant chase in AOTC
    4. Janu Godalhi (Pablo Hidalgo), opera patron, ROTS.
