    Title: On Baby Watch
    Author: Daenarrah
Characters: OC and mention of canon characters
A/N: This is the diary of my OC from [link=http://boards.theforce.net/Message.aspx?topic=24023076&brd=10476&replies=0]Birth Rite[/link]. She's taken on a life of her own in the fic and this is a chance to tell things from her POV. I know the fic only covers the time during Padmé's pregnancy, but I think Madelae has plenty to say about her time to and on Coruscant. At least that's my intention. It'll probably begin slow and kind of boring, but it should pick up after a few entries.

    Diary of Madelae Wordras
    Medical Physician of Naboo

    Enroute to Coruscant: Entry 1

The transport has just gone into hyperspace. I felt that awful shift in my cabin?s atmosphere when it happened. I?m now waiting for my stomach to return. It?s such a remarkable feeling knowing I?m here and my stomach is still at the jump point. It?ll most likely catch up by the time I reach Coruscant. It?s a good thing I decided to wait until later to eat. The flooring in here is ugly enough. I don?t want to add to it.

I always did hate traveling on these things, but it?s not every day I get a transmission telling me Padmé needs me. I have no idea why either. Her handmaidens were so secretive. All they said was to please come to Coruscant as soon as possible.

How can I refuse my favorite patient? I haven?t seen her since she left Naboo. That seems like such a long time ago. She had better be grateful. She?s pulling me out of retirement for this. I?d do anything for her, though. She knows that. It?ll be such a joy to see her again. Seeing her on the HoloNet is so impersonal. Ruwee and Jobal are so proud of her. I am too.

I hope Cesar remembers to contact them and cancel our dinner for this weekend. I?ll contact him once I?m done here and remind him. I think I?ll also ask him to check and make sure my stomach didn?t fall back down to Naboo. He just might find it in our backyard.

Padmé. It?s been so long since I?ve seen you. I wonder what kind of trouble you?ve gotten yourself into this time that you need me there so badly. I hope no early morning speeder races through the city. I can?t believe that was over ten years ago. Where has the time gone?

I don?t think it?s easy to race through Coruscant. Too much traffic.

I wish I knew what?s going on and why you need me. I hope it?s nothing too serious. I know I?ll learn soon enough.

I?ll have to comment you on those wonderful girls you have working for you. Such loyalty and dedication. But then your handmaidens have always been like that. I just wish I could remember the names of the two who contacted me. It all was in such a hurry. I will eventually, or they?ll have to tell me again once I?m on Coruscant.

I haven?t been there since?well, since before you became Senator, Padmé. I think you were in your second year as Queen. Cesar and I took vacation there. What were we thinking? Vacation on a city-planet? I still blame it on short-term senility.

And, now here I am, on my way back, because you need me.

I really just couldn't pass up the opportunity to write from her POV with this challenge. I'm going to have fun with this too.

Living on Naboo her whole life, she has some definite thoughts on Coruscant. And yes, Cesar is her husband.

*grin* maybe, just maybe, we'll find out some of those little secrets she's been keeping on Padmé's past!

mmm...maybe...[face_devil] There's plenty Madelae could tell about Padme's life. We'll just have to see how forthcoming she is. Don't want to embarrass her favorite patient now. ;)

You've been added to the list. I'm so glad you enjoy Birth Rite so much; I hope to be as successful with this.

    Thanks for reading.

    Diary of Madelae Wordras
    Medical Physician of Naboo

On route to Coruscant: Entry 2

Cesar has indeed confirmed that my stomach has fallen back down to Naboo since it certainly has not rejoined me here. He told me he?ll send it along and make sure it reaches Coruscant just in time for my arrival. He?s such a loving, wonderful and thoughtful man.

I feel simply awful having to cancel on Ruwee and Jobal on such short notice. I was looking forward to seeing them again. But duty calls. If it wasn?t for the fact I?ve dedicated so many years to my profession - and to Padmé - I think I would be overcome with guilt for not telling them about all that has happened with their daughter. But I took an oath to the Syndicate, one which cannot be broken. Regardless, Jobal has always found a way to find out things. At least find out what Padmé wants her to, especially if it will keep her parents at ease. And while she has proven herself reckless from time to time, Padmé has always been careful and taken care of herself. She?s never given me reason to worry excessively about her. I hope she doesn?t now.

    --

There's a buzz all over the transport about the Kenobi-Skywalker team and what they did on Tissau. That mission was a couple of weeks ago but it was a rather substantial victory for the Republic. Kenobi-Skywalker successfully liberated the planet from the CIS, pushing them further into the Outer Rim. Hopefully, with Jedi like that leading the clone army, this war will be over soon. I had hoped to live a full life and never see a day of war. Not every hope and dream comes true.

During all this I couldn?t help but overhear some young women talking about Kenobi and Skywalker. They were loud enough how could anybody not hear them. Carrying on the way they were about which one is handsomer, stronger and braver. They reminded me very much of Philissa and Tresseme and their friends. The only difference is my particular young ladies think our illustrious ?Hero With No Fear? is the one to swoon over while the ones here seem to be split on it.

Now, if you ask me - and yes I am asking myself - while I completely agree Jedi Skywalker is indeed nice on the eyes and he has proven himself quite worthy of the moniker, Master Kenobi is the one who would hold my undivided attention. He?s proven he?s quite worthy of his own title, ?The Negotiator?. Such wit and intelligence. I?m certain he could engage me in conversation for hours and I would never grow bored. Yes, a man with a sharp mind is what tickles my fancy. (I?m so glad Cesar isn?t here to read this. He would think he has competition! Alas, I?m old enough to be Master Kenobi?s mother.)

Hm, I wonder if those two have any idea the kind of following they have, with the way their escapades and adventures are broadcast all over the HoloNet. Especially Jedi Skywalker. I can still remember Philissa and Tresseme squealing when his face was shown on the holoscreen. I wouldn?t be surprised if he could hear then all the way on Tissau.

Oh, I just realized it?s time for the evening meal. If one can call what?s served here a meal. I wonder if I should dare even try to eat. I don?t know if my stomach, or the place where my stomach used to be, can handle it. I guess there?s only one way to find out.

How interesting Madelae's daughters are swooning over Anakin and the patient she's going to treat is secretly married to him.

Actually, it?s her granddaughters. I should have clarified that before posting. [face_blush] But yes, she puts up with her granddaughters swooning over him. She?s going to be surprised when she finds out just how close she is to him?and how jealous her granddaughters would be if they knew.
