Forgive my overly-simplistic viewpoint of this topic, but I personally like the idea of a chip in this circumstance. It really kind of enhances the whole idea of deception, with regard to the Clones-rather than Sidious just assuming the clones will listen to him whenever he makes the command. This really emphasizes the deliberate preconceived method he used, even years before, regarding exactly how his grand plan would play out.
