Name: Marric Johnson
Alias: None... Yet.
Job: None currently but has worked summer jobs in the past.
Age: 17
Appearance: Average height of roughly 5'9", messy medium length black hair, stormy blue eyes, and a light tan for a complexion. Typically wears darker blue and black clothing since he first took notice of the seemingly random shifts in weather around him.

Superpower: Weather Control/Manipulation. Since he took notice of the effect he had on the weather not much more than a year ago, Marric has only practiced in order to keep it from randomly shifting with his mood.

Weakness: His powers are tied to his emotions and causes the weather to shift in tune with him. Minor bits of emotion have little if any effect, but as the intensity of whatever emotion Marric is feeling increases, so does whatever weather it causes. Since he noticed this, Marric does his best to keep from feeling, which as a teenager, is very near impossible, made all the more so by the fact that Marric is terrified of his own abilities.

Name:
Neena Thurman

Alias:
Domino

Appearance:
[image=http://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel//universe3zx/images/thumb/f/f0/Domino442.jpg/406px-Domino442.jpg]

Affiliation:
Project Cadmus

Abilities: (Taken from Marvel.com)
Domino is a mutant with the ability to subliminally and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that affect probability in her favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things to occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have "good luck" and her opponents to have "bad luck." This phenomenon can be anything from an enemy's equipment failure to hitting just the right switch with a stray shot to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor.

This unconsciously controlled talent is triggered when she is in a stressful situation (such as fighting or escaping). This effect constantly emanates from her body at all times and is completely subconscious. However, it is also largely participatory - in order for the luck to take effect, Domino herself must engage in an action whose chance she can affect.

For example, if debris falling from the sky was about to hit her in the head, she would still be hurt if she stood still. However, if she tried to avoid them, she would move perfectly to avoid each and every piece about to hit her. In addition if Domino were to stand before a hail of bullets she would be a bullet-ridden corpse. Instead, she must take action, attempting to avoid the gunfire and will miraculously bob and weave just perfectly to avoid every single shot. As a byproduct of her probability abilities, Domino's cerebral cortex emits a current of bio-electric pulses down her spine to instinctively guide her movements during such situations, which has the added effect of augmenting her natural reflexes and agility to near-superhuman levels.

Although Domino cannot consciously control her ability, she can activate it by putting herself in a position in which she could be harmed. The full extent of her powers is still unknown.

Additionally, Domino is extensively trained in various armed and unarmed combat techniques, as well as in covert operations. She is a superb markswoman, athlete, and swimmer, and is adept in the use of explosives.

Super Power: A power ring powered by insanity, basically the opposite of a green lantern. It's color is dirty brown and is represented by a spiral, like so: [image=http://fineartamerica.com/images-medium/shades-of-brown-cheryl-viar.jpg].

Matthew Berger
New York 2003

The next day was exciting. Matthew tried to hurt himself. Boiling water was first. It did not do a thing to his hand. It did not even hurt or itch. His hand did not grow red. Acid was next. Low concentration. High concentration. It did not change anything. Even the worst stuff did eat away his shirt, but not his skin. Heat. Acid. He tried a blade. A nail. He hammered it against iron. Nothing.
Then he grew daring. As soon as the sun was down and he was certain nobody watched him, he jumped down the second floor. He half expected to break a leg. The impact had to be felt, even if the skin was hard, right? It didn´t. It was as if he threw a block of metal out the window. The third flaw did not change that. He began to theorize he might indeed transform the kinetic energy . . .

Brooding he spend his evening over books. From time to time he tried to ?trick? his skin by pushing hi hand very fast into the fire. It always did not turn out to work. He could not be hurt. Not physically. Not even pain. Nothing.

The one question that was now the only important one screamed in his head. ?WHAT HAVE I BECOME??

He found out a few nights later.

The scream were too familiar. When Ally next door was still working and she had not brought home enough money he had heard her scream often like this. He had never done a thing. He had told himself he had not been invited to. Or that it was none of his business. This night something was different. It was more men. Three of ém. All in what he clearly understood were gang-colours. And the boy screamed, too. And laughter. His fantasy ran wild, what they did to her over there. At 2156, they had been over there a quarter hour he dialed 911. A second later he hung up. The cops would come. Certainly. Maybe they would know at the door and a load of shotgun bullets would greet them. A shoot out. A few elder cops with pistols against gangbangers with full automatics. He hea enough about these things in the news. No, there was one person who could be shot all day. And that person was him. Why send someone else to deal with it then? Why?

After another minute he had not come up with any good idea why.

Why not? Was suddenly the question.

It was exactly 2159 when he went over. Still wearing his gown for chemical experiments, as he had played with acid, he knocked the door. It was exactly 2200 when the man pulled the gun to his head.

A second later, Matthew realized he did not fear him a bit and smiled.
?You know what? Fair fight. I give you the first shot, hm?? Matthew told him.

?What do you want? Die?? The man asked. Matthew stared at him. The Hispanic was two heads larger than him and looked damned strong. Matthew wondered if his neck could still be broken. If his theory was right, bending it would make it only solid.

?Do you?? Matthew asked back. The screams from behind where terribly loud. ?Listen, pull the trigger and we get done with it, I wanna see Ally.? Maathew told him and the man pulled the trigger. The shot was loud and bright. It his his forehead and did . . . nothing. Not even an impact. He simply absorbed it. Matthew grinned. Cool, this was cool. The man stumbled back and shot again. Three times. Matt slowly entered the flat and looked at him. ?Guys . . . ? He asked, suddenly not so confident and Matthew leaped towards him and hammered his forehead into the mans face as he was at his highest point of the jump. The man stumbled back and let go of the gun. Matthew felt nothing. The man had a broken nose. But he had not his first one. Angry he raged against Matthew, rammed into him and ripped him off his feet. He was indestructible but not any heavier, obviously. He realized that, as he heard his body shatter into a wall. He hit the man, his fists at contact growing hard as iron. But the strength behind them was not enough to hurt the guy. The screams of Ally had finished now and he heard steps. Fast. Fast. He felt fists hammer into him. He ignored them and allowed himself to drop to the ground

At the most recent point in the game, mutants/superhumans are only known to the government and a select few individuals. The public, while they may have their suspicions, have never been exposed to any superhuman nor mutant and their abilities. What follows is the first ever occurence on a wide scale.

New York City, Today

There were often booms and crashes in New York City's buzzing environment, though the boom that occurred at 6:05 PM was unlike anything the city had seen since 9/11. Bruce Banner, a young scientist, had lost it. His body had begun to twitch and he had slammed his fists on the ground once. The sidewalk cracked. He couldn't control his temper, blood vessels and tears swelled in his eyes and veins creeped through his neck and into his face. It was becoming too much, his anger was overcoming him. He slammed his hands again into the ground, this time the entire street felt the shockwave, windows shattered, and cars bounced off the ground. He did it again, and again, and again. His body exploded out of his clothes and he screamed, louder than all the pedestrians around him combined as they scattered from the large green man. People were injured, cars were thrown, and fire trucks were smashed...

Then Bruce Banner, or the man formerly known as, started his rampage.

----
Heather King and her class of school children were in the middle of a class field trip to a fire station, their first and her first as well as the school finally made the budget sacrifice to allow it. They were among the first to feel the ground shake and the shockwave boom that echoed through the streets. The kids laughed and asked each other if they had felt that and then they were silenced as a car flew past the street in front of them and slammed into an apartment building.

They quickly screamed and began panicking, all huddling around their teacher, looking at her to know what to do and how she would protect them. Fire trucks began to buzz and police car sirens blared all around the town. Heather would have to act fast if she meant to protect all the children and herself, as well.

------
The apartment building shook and while most would not know what had happened, Marric Johnson most certainly would. The car was crashed through his and his next door neighbor's apartment living rooms. Luckily, he was okay, but his father's arm was pinned between the hood of the car and a wall. The neighbor was in the afterlife and judging from the roars and increasingly louder quakes, he only had a few minutes to get his father and himself out of harm's way as there were now gunshots being heard outside.

------
Kathy would feel Herman's chuckle through their connection. "That's amazing, Jean. We can help you stop the nosebleeds and headaches and get a better grasp on your powers. I know the past 24 hours have seemed quite strange to you, but I assure you, everything will make much more sense in a while. Trust me."

The mood she was picking up from Herman was one of joy and honest genuinity. Herman had not come off as someone who lied or meant harm and she would be getting this sense as she heard the blaring of fire trucks and cop cars, crashes, and screams outside, all rising in tone and intensity by the minute. Herman could feel what was happening through his connection with her.

"Jean...What's wrong? What's going on?" He asked. Outside causing a rampage, Kathy would see the second monster she had seen in two days.

------
In Project Cadmus' New York Headquarters, Amanda Waller was receiving news of an attack on New York City. A large monster was rampaging in the city and it was described as unstoppable. She muted the iPad and began walking down a long white hallway, her heels' echo resonating off the walls. She had been preparing for something like this to happen for a decade now, as much as they did not want it to happen. Her team were among the most well trained operatives, superhuman and otherwise, that the government had produced in her time. Even if she was not ready for this attack, they w

"Doms, you ready babe?"

Horny squadmate? Check.

Domino had finished making all her preparations for the eventual skydive into the Big Apple and looked up at Shocker as she slid a pair of goggles over her eyes. "Am I ever not ready, Herman?"

John Rose
Rose Residence; Los Angeles

"John." The officer spoke up. "This is Wally West, you can call him Kid Flash. I have to be going and get back to the station, but he will explain everything to you. You folks have a good night." He saluted to John's parents and walked out of the door, leaving Wally standing awkwardly in the middle of the room in front of John.

Wally scratched his head. "Um...Where do I start? This is going to sound really strange, but I'm part of a team of heroes based in San Francisco. We have...uh, powers, like yours...Well not like yours, but powers, superpowers. Like me...I'm the fastest thing....in the world. God, this all sounds ****ing insane. Damn, 'scuse my language. Uh....Is any of this making sense?"

One guy. One damn lunatic in a back alley was all it took for John to walk from real life straight into a comic book. But then again... to know he wasn't the only one in the world like this was pretty interesting. How many others were there?

"Kind of," John replied, and he looked at his parents. "Looks like your boy's moving up in the world."

Shocker winked. "Hell no." He then leaped out of the plane, Nightcrawler grabbed onto John and disappeared, appearing and vanishing at various intervals in the sky during their free fall. Shocker screamed over the headsets. He, like always, was having the time of his life as he prepared for battle. It did not take them long to notice the smoke and fires coming from a spot in Queens. Judging from the path of fires, they were arriving not a moment too soon. Alarms around the city were blaring as the police tried to evacuate the citizens from the monster's rampage. Shocker's voice buzzed in the Team's ears.

"Okay, we got the son of a ***** in sights. Big, green guy, looks angry, really angry. Okay pair up. Nightcrawler and Steel go in for direct contact, Doms and I will lay down suppressing from the rooftops. Watch for civilians. Hopefully the cops have done their job and we wont have to worry about that. YEEEHHHHAAAWWWW." Shocker's parachute opened up as he guided it to a nearby damaged roof top above the creature. Steel was already engaging the creature, slamming his hammer into the monster over and over, backing him up.

"That's it Steel, give him hell." But from Dom's POV should could see that the monster's face seemed to be getting angrier and more vicious and, maybe she might be mistaken, but he looked like he was getting bigger.

Los Angeles

Wally took off his goggles and raised his arms at John's parents. "Mom, Dad! I'm sorry...um about the door, we'll fix it, but come sit down. You should hear this too."

Wally sat down and laid his goggles on the table, smoothing his hair back with his other hands. "Yea, so John. Um, I don't know how to go about this. I'll...start with who we got so far in the group. There's BB, Beast Boy, he operates in San Diego. Sixteen year old kid, lives on his own, but before you feel sorry for him he can turn into like...any animal he wants to, so he makes due by doing dog shows and occasionally performing at SeaWorld, he's gotten pretty good too."

He wiped his mouth in the wrist of his hood. Then looked at John's mom. "Hey mom, could I get something to drink. I'm kind of nervous." He took a deep breath before continuing. "Okay, then there's Damage, he operates out of Oakland. Huge anime and video game nerd, but the guy is serious business. He has crazy strength and reflexes and works for this minor Pro-Wrestling circuit. He thinks he's a luchadore, one of those mexican wrestlers, and fights in the costume. But he's serious about fighting crime and the crime rate has dropped tremendously since he and Raven have hooked up. They used to have like a thing going on....Oh yea, Rave. She's emo, like depressingly emo, but she has powers too, but I...Can't like describe them. She can fly though, I've seen that."

"We've been trying to get someone in LA for a while. Your crime rate with the gangs and murderers and robberies is ridiculous. I've been doing what I can, but its hard to watch here and San Fran, you know. Raven sensed you with her powers and boom, Chief decided to see what you could do...." Wally scratched his head. "Not to be mean, but is that all you can do? Lift, tiny stuff like remotes? Nothing else?"

Steve Rogers
New York, Late March, 1941

Steve would've written off the previous night's events as a particularly strange dream if he hadn't woken up that morning, on the couch, with a green ring around his finger. Then it all came flooding back: the flash of green light. The ring's power to make his thoughts reality, provided he wished it enough. He had actually used it to give the alien - Abin Sur, former Green Lantern of Sector 2814 - a proper burial in his backyard. Then the ring had told him he would have to wait to be contacted by the "Guardians of the Universe," whoever they were, and he'd promptly collapsed into a particularly well-earned night's sleep.

In any case, it would soon be time for the experiment. Steve was, somewhat surprisingly to the soldiers escorting him, quite relaxed. He had been told about the risks but, honestly, in the grand scheme of things, he wasn't important. And if you had to go someday, you might as well go giving the free world a better chance to defeat Adolf Hitler. It wasn't like Mr. and Mrs. Rogers were still around to miss him, anyway.

He was quickly becoming aware of the fact that all the eyes in the room had settled on his rather unimpressive frame. That was to be expected, obviously. The success or failure of one of the most top secret projects in American history would be demonstrated today. Dr. Josef Reinstein, the lead researcher, was naturally very excited.

?Steve, my boy, today is the big day. Quickly undress and get into the capsule. We will begin soon.?

"Can do, Doc, although do you mind if I keep this..." He glanced at his hand. Nothing.

{{Have switched to a non-visible state. Precautionary measure to protect identity.}}

{{All due respect, Mr. Ring, I haven't got much of an identity to protect.}}

{{Permission to reveal identity withheld from all new recruits. No exceptions.}}

{{Duly noted.}}

"... Er, never mind. So, that's the chamber then," he said, unbuttoning his shirt. "Looks about how I imagined it. Now, if I remember correctly, there was something about injections...?"

[hl=white]Captain America[/hl]
Germany, 1945

This was supposed to get easier.

The Allied forces were closing in on Berlin from either side. The German counteroffensive in the Ardennes had failed. And yet the ferocity of the German defenses had only grown s the end drew near.

And then there were the camps.

Could man really do this to his fellow man? It seemed so horrifically impossible, and yet the evidence was in front of their face with each camp they came across. You didn't even want to accept it the first time you saw it.

And then you'd find the furnaces.

A rather unlucky German soldier caught an extra strong green boxing glove across his unprotected chin. Captain America knew that it wasn't the fault of every German. They were people, and he liked to think of people as basically good. But the things he had seen... the things these people had gone through...

Goddammit, this was supposed to get easier.

"Frankly sir, if you ask me," he told the officer, "Berlin can't surrender fast enough. Ring, how bad is it?"

[hl=green]"Lantern Steve Rogers of Sector 2814, I do not believe you would like to hear my projections."[/hl]

"I see. Ring, remind me to kick Hitler's sorry hide if I ever get the chance."

[hl=green]"I will do this."[/hl]

He'd managed to save the boy, though. That was what you had to focus on: the little victories. That was what kept you fighting the good fight.

And speaking of the boy...

"Hey, hey," Cap began, dropping to one knee and putting his hand on the boy's shoulder, his speech translated into the youth's native tongue by the little green ring on his finger. "It's gonna be alright, pal, no need to get on the ground. No one is going to do anything like this to you ever again. I promise. Ring, status."

[hl=green]"Subject is fourteen, male. Suffering from malnourishment, but is otherwise healthy."[/hl]

The Doctor nodded at Steve and then to a nurse. She picked up a syringe, in a row of syringes, and took a step towards the undressed soldier. "You will feel a pinch." The needle slid into his arm, with his small size finding a vein had been entirely too easy for the nurse. The doses came quickly one after the other and Steve would start to feel the effects from it, but since these drugs had not been tried on anyone else before, only he would be able to describe how it felt as he prepared to get into the chamber.

He led his Lord down to the research facility, with haste for he had made Lord Doom wait long enough. When they arrived the suit was being shined by a group of handmaidens, to perfection, for the perfect Lord Doom. At his appearance, they quickly stopped and got down on their knees to offer praise to him.

The suit, inanimate of course, seem to scream to him. But was he ready for it?

Jeb
Some street in Los Angeles

Walking down the street and minding his own business. That's all Jeb had been doing when this clown jumped out of an alley and shot him three times. Staring up at the man waving the gun around like it was the wand of power was amusing in a way. Power was never quite as complete as the person wielding wanted it to be, and that was pretty much what Jeb's goal in life was: to show people their limits. Other than that it was whatever happened to catch his fancy that day, be it saving someone from a burning fire or skinning kittens.

Looking down at his ring, which he still hadn't completely figured out, Jeb decided that enough was enough. "Best? What.. is my best. Best is something at the limit. An edge you can't go past. Limits are for losers." An crazed grin spread through his beard, and the glint of madness surfaced in his dead eyes. Jeb imagined a giant rubber ducky squashing this puny little man, and there it was, a dingy brown ducky just like he'd played with as a child only this ducky was as large as a car and weighed about as much.

Watching the man's expression and the giant ducky dropped from a mere foot above his head was priceless and it was all Jeb could do to keep from giggling like a school girl.

IC: Marric Johnson
New York City

Everything had been fine one minute. His dad, Mark Johnson, was watching one of his mystery/forensics shows, Marric couldn't be bothered to remember which one, and he himself was just leaving the small kitchen with a bowl of popcorn in hand. His own show was about to start soon, one of the few he stilled watched, and television made an excellent distraction for his mind from other things. It was so easy to let one's care of the outside world slip away then. His mother Olivia and his seven year old sister Alice where off somewhere, at the theater or the park he couldn't remember, having one of those Mother/Daughter trips.

It was as he was taking the first step or two into the apartment's living room that everything changed. The building shook as a car, a car of all things, smashed through the wall separating the Johnson's apartment from their neighbors, though it didn't register to Marric until after the fact that car had been in midair, and thus thrown, and through the living room, turning furniture and decorations, in addition to his dad's prized television, into rubble. Marric found himself coughing from the dust the ruined wall and assorted rubble had thrown up before ascertaining he was fine and his thoughts automatically switched elsewhere.

"Dad!" He called out, hoping his father was alright. A groan came from nearby, turning Marric's gaze to find his father laying next the car, seemingly fine, until he noticed his dad's arm pinned between the car and the wall the car had finally come to rest against. Rushing over to him, the teenager found him to be semi-conscious, though he couldn't be sure. He was immediately grateful that his mother and sister were elsewhere right now. As Marric began to attempt to push the car sideways away from his dad or off the wall altogether he finally took notice of the roars and shaking coming from the direction the car had been thrown. A moment later he heard the sounds of gunshots. Both sets of noises were getting closer, telling Marric he had to get himself and his father out of there now.

But now matter how he strained he could budge the car. And he couldn't think of any way he could either. 'That's not true...' Some shadowed part of his mind whispered, bringing with it a flash of memory...

Flashback - One Year Earlier

He was on the ground, his back pinned to one of the many trees surrounding the clearing, his tormentor was unrelenting, blows continuing to rain down upon him as they had for over a minute while the sky had darkened and thundered. He had tried to fight back, really, he had. But he wasn't strong enough, worthless as he was physically. But some part inside him screamed for him to keep trying,
to try just once more, and he listened. He had nothing left to lose anyway. His blow hit, as insignificant as all the others, and so he found himself shocked when he felt his tormentor thrown away from him. True, the punch itself did next to nothing, but the focused(if unintentional) gust of wind strong enough to flip a car accompanying it did. He knew he had done it. Somehow he just knew. There were just too many coincidences this week involving the weather around him that just didn't add up...

End Flashback

Present

Marric swallowed and nodded to himself. If his dad was fully conscious and remembered this, well that could be dealt with later. Right now, getting his dad out of here was more important. And by the sound of it they didn't have much time. He braced himself against the car, reaching out to that, something, that special thing that made him unique, that cursed him, and pushed. the air around him he focused as best he could into an improvised air cannon, and released it sideways at the car, throwing the vehicle sideways and off his dad's arm. His emotions became more turbulent now, as he turned to his father, unsure what he would find in the man's eyes, assuming the pain hadn't knocked him out. He mentally and emotionally braced himself as best he could as he did so, already reaching

Weakling though he was, even Steve Rogers was used to the occasional immunization, but that wasn't what got to him. Rather, it was the slight burning sensation that had begun to travel through his veins.

Victor von Doom stared at what the armor he would soon wear. It was an awesome proposition, and if the slightest element backfired, if the slightest miscalculation had occurred, this would be the armor he died in.

But to keep his control of Latveria and eventually see the day he would destroy Deathstroke, and later, Richards, Victor von Doom considered that a risk that even he, vainglorious as he was, would be willing to take.

"You will avert your eyes," he instructed, and after he was sure that they had done so, Victor von Doom unwrapped the bandages around his head for the last time. He stared at the reflection of himself in the polished surface of the armor. Hideous. They would pay.

He reached for the mask.

They would all pay.

And placed it over his head.

"Assist me in donning the remainder of my armor. This will be the day remembered in the annals of the history as the turning point in the Latverian Civil War, and, indeed, in the history of the entire world itself. For on this day, Victor von Doom is no more!"

He clenched his fist.

"The entire world will soon kneel at the throne of the future ruler of all mankind! [hl=green]All will swear allegiance to DOCTOR DOOM![/hl]"

The car rolled violently into another neighbor's apartment, accompanied by the sound of girls screaming, terrified as the vehicle almost had crushed them. Maybe Marric would notice what had almost happened, or maybe, and most likely, he would realize what the gust of wind to the car had done to the rest of his father's arm. The skin was torn, the arm was already broken, but now the lower end of his arm was almost barren of skin, the wound raw. His father screamed and rolled around on the ground clinching his arm.

The rampage was still going on and with the hole in the wall the sounds of a city being destroyed and failed rescue attempts flooded the Johnson's apartment.

The gunwielder dodged out of the way before the giant ducky cracked the cement. The man smiled and maybe the fact that he wasn't all there in the head either would began to become apparent. He stumbled to his feet, his ankle had been twisted from the leap his had taken. "Ohhh, you're a bad mother*******, aren't you? But at least now we can have some fun."

The man fired multiple shots at the wounded Jeb. His onslaught continued.

"Very well then, Steve. Please, step inside. I will not tell you it will be pleasant, it will probably hurt very bad, the worse feeling in your life. But know that if you survive, you will become the hand of the President and the Armed Forces of the United States." The Doctor led Steve to the chamber and the nurses strapped him in. Legs, waist, wrists. Everything done, they closed the chamber on him.

Inside, those who would be claustrophobic would not survive long. He could see the Head Researcher's face, but could not hear his voice. The lights outside flickered in the lab and the chamber dispersed a gas in the chamber, that stuck to Steve's skin. Then eletricity surged through the machine. And the worse pain Steve Rogers could imagine was dwarfed by the worse pain he could never have anticipated.

Lars himself personally assisted his Lord with the rest of his armor. It held his body tight to the skin. It would take some getting used to, but it was nothing unbearable, not for Victor von Doom. Once it was finished, Lars prepared to connect the backplate to the helmet and was about to ask his Lord if he was certain, but he quickly thought better. This was the only hope for Latveria. He clasped the armor on and it was complete.

Energy began surging through the armor, smoke began rising, and then there was nothing. Doctor Doom would find himself feeling unstoppable, even more so than moments before. An alarm sounded on the suit's wrist and the building shook. Deathstroke had launched an assault with tanks that were firing away at the building, pushing back the forces of Doom to take shelter within the building. Deathstroke had brought the war, as he had promised, to Doom's doorstep. And now he wanted the Lord's head.

"Oh. Oh crap."

The windows of Kathy's apartment suddenly grew dark as the monster's rampage hit her street. Outside, there was a roar of rage and the creature smashed the road. The building shook and a small rain of dust drizzled down.

Kathy put her fingers to her temples and concentrated hard.

Herman, you getting this? There's a gigantic monster outside my apartment.

Outside, the police had pulled up but all they seemed to be doing was making the monster angrier.

Assuming you and your friend had nothing to do with this, can you help me out?

Next door, something crashed through a window and the girls that lived there started screaming.

Things are getting kind of crazy.

Herman rubbed his temples. All he got from Jean was the anger of the monster, a neverending anger. "What? No, we don't know what's going on there." Their connection thinned, but was renewed after Herman had finished conversing. "Jean, we are about 5 minutes out from your location, but I want you to get somewhere safe, can you do that?"

Some people in her apartment building, the ones who were still able, were hurriedly evacuating, leaving behind their belongings and possessions to run out of the building, others thought that staying behind would be better as the monster's rampage had seemed to have been halted by a man in an iron suit with a giant hammer, others, injured, had no choice.

What would Kathy Cooper do?

Kathy looked out at the people running away, then reached out with her mind and found that some people had decided to stay inside the building. Honestly, right now maybe that seemed like a smart decision: some guy with a hammer had rocked up and decided to to attack the monster. The street outside filled with the dull sound of metal hitting flesh, answered by another roar from the creature. The apartment shook again.

If that... thing decided to start throwing stuff around again, those left in the apartment wouldn't have a chance. Kathy remembered the people on the train, swallowed hard, and made a decision.

Herman, if you're not helping these people then I will.

Pressing her face up against the glass of her apartment window, Kathy probed the monster's mind as gently as she could. There had to be something. Past the walls of blinding rage, past the pain and fury, there had to be something she could use.

What did it want?

Blood would begin to run down from Kathy's nose and the connection with Herman was broken as she infiltrated the mind of the monster. She would find out that the monster was very much a man. A very angry man and no matter how she searched, all she would find was anger and rage before he -she had retrieved a name, Bruce- pushed her out of his head. The force of such rejection was powerful and would send the young psychic reeling backwards.

Herman had lost her. He slammed his fist into his palm. "I lost her. She said she's going to help the people in her building. I could hear their cries as well, but its too dangerous." He turned to the childlike individual beside him, and it had a boyish grin on its dark face.

"Well, we might have a hero on our hands after all." It said, to which Herman frowned.

"But she's not ready, she could get hurt, we need to hurry."

If his father's scream tore at him, it was nothing next to the frightened screams girls from next door. From the Smith's place. Both threatened to claw open the carefully crafted cage he had done his best to seal his emotions in. 'No time for that now!' He reminded himself, mumbling a quick apology to his dad as did his best to grasp the man's good arm and haul him to his feet and put the unwounded arm around Marric's shoulders. It took a bit of work, and thinking back on it, Marric would realize that the strength to do it likely came from adrenaline. He helped his dad move towards the nearest exit opposite from where the car had first been thrown from, which incidentally lead past the second hole in the wall. The one he had caused. And if a single one of those girls were hurt, he didn't know what he'd do. 'Yes you do.'

As they passed the hole on their way to the hallway that connected the apartments Marric paused and poke his head inside, coughing on the dust, before calling out "Is everyone okay? We've got to get out of here!"

Captain David Burnson
Classified Location At A Classified Time Somewhere In The Future

In spite of the cramped seating and the dull roar of the chopper's engines, Captain David Burnson, leader of an eighteen-man USMC Force Reconnaissance platoon, had to rub the sleep from his eyes.

He was still tired, they all were, and the rapid deployment had them all stumbling and trying to keep up with what was going on. It was only a couple hours ago that David had been roused in the middle of a night by a phone call. Despite his wife Jenna having mumbled sleepily to ignore it, the caller ID told him that this was one of those calls. Funnily enough, that only made David want to pull the phone out of the wall. Unfortunately, duty drove him to pick up the phone. He barely remembered the next hour of getting dressed, searching for his keys while Jenna worriedly asked him what was wrong which cause their little girl Emma to wake up and ask mommy and daddy what was wrong, and then him leaving them both with questions unanswered and hastily-said goodbyes to drive to the nearby base that he was stationed on. There he had suited up, grabbed his gear, and was all-but shoved into the chopper that was waiting for him and seventeen other guys that that were struggling to wake up and understand what was going on just like him.

They had all been on leave and David had been planning on how he would spend his last week with both his girls before he would get shipped out again. A movie for one night with Jenna, a dinner at an expensive restaurant for another, maybe a candle-lit one at home that involved a lot of wine and with some after-dinner messing around. Emma had a recital tomorrow that David had promised that he wouldn't miss. Duty called, unfortunately.

A very loud call at that. It was only during the middle of their flight that they got something that could be marginally considered as a briefing. All the vague, general stuff like "a catastrophe happened here, go there and recon while backup arrives, etc.". But there was one thing that stood out in the briefing. One thing that had helped get David to wake up just a bit more. And it was because he had been half-asleep that made him wonder if he heard the word right.

Superhumans. As in the comic book, shoot-lasers-from-eyes superhumans? He didn't get an elaboration - and, in hindsight, how could one elaborate on such a subject? - and it left David wondering at what the hell was going on. Either way, his platoon had not only been ordered to watch out for survivors, but also to watch out for the chance that they might encounter hostiles. These supposed superhumans? If these were superhumans that fit the definition of lasers-from-eyes superhumans, then what was David's team supposed to do against that?

"ETA five minutes."

That was their pilot and at his warning, David and the rest of the team checked and double-checked their gear. They were all packing; M4 assault rifles, body armor, grenades, a pair of .50 cal rifles for their snipers, everything. A few of their guys were even carrying portable grenade and rocket launchers which only made David wonder why someone would think they would need to carry that kind of firepower.

"Passing over the perimeter," the pilot continued speaking from the cockpit. "We got local law enforcement sealing off the area while emergency personnel search through the outer edges. You guys will be the first to get right in the middle of this. We got three more platoons that are being dropped off at separate locations but, otherwise, you're going to be on your own down there. Signal for evac if you need it but the higher-ups want a thorough search of the area before the rest of our forces move in and set up base."

David keyed an affirmative but, otherwise, turned his attention to the window. It was still late, night dominating the skies, but the fires down below allowed David to see the mess that they were being sent into. Switching to night vision allowed him to see it all: the fires, the shattered buildings, roads filled with debris, crushed and ab

Heather King
New York - Fire Station

The field trip to the fire station was going splendidly. The children, most of them at least, were fascinated at everything. Being their first field trip, Heather made it an effort for everyone to enjoy it. Mike Johnson, the rowdiest child Heather had ever met, was already playfully fighting with another child. Heather had threatened that he would be sent back to the school bus and miss out on the hot dogs. Mike said that he didn?t like hot dogs in the first place. Mike almost got sent home early, but Heather knew his home life was a wreck. Now that everyone was listening to the nice, but ugly, fire man talk about the history of this fire station, Mike tried to snatch away Elizabeth?s Dippin Dots. The firemen had been kind enough to give all of the kids some kind of ice cream that like rat poop. Heather was reluctant to take a bite, but after some persuasion by her students, she ate some. It wasn?t that bad.

?Mike, please don?t make me get on to you, again. I absolutely tired of this,? Heather whispered to the boy. He blushed as the fireman talking noticed him getting in trouble. He wanted to be a fireman when he got older. ?When will you learn??

?Sorry, Ms. King.?

Before Heather could continue, the ground shook crazily. The children laughed at first, but Heather heard the shockwave echo around them. Out of nowhere a car came soaring through the air. The laughter was cut short as shrill cries came from everyone at once. They crowded around Heather?s legs. Sirens, both coming from inside the fire station and from police stations. Heather?s heart pounded in her chest as she considered what she would do. Wrapping her arms around the children, she dragged them backwards, screaming for them to follow the fireman.

?Take these children and get them out of here!?

?But you?re the teacher-?

?And you?re a fireman! Take the kids!? She then turned to see something nasty coming down the road. As the fireman was almost out of reach, Heather reached around and tapped his exposed neck. He glanced around, but all he could see was another fireman running into the station. Heather, transformed into the fire man who had been sent off with the children, looked around in the fire station. A fire truck was about to pull out. Heather tried to wave them down. She could help. She would help.

Domino
New York City

Domino held a hand to the wall as she leaned out of the open door of the jet and watched Steel, Shocker and Nightcrawler dive downward towards the chaos.

"Badass," she said to herself, watching the blue vapor Kurt left behind everytime he teleported above the carnage down below. Of all the Mutant powers she'd seen, his was definitely her favorite. Besides her own, naturally. Being able to teleport won't let you run the house in Vegas.

The wind whipping at her face, her soft black hair tugging at her scalp, Domino finally couldn't stand it anymore. She backed up a bit into the cabin, turned around, and backflipped out of the jet and began to plummet towards the earth, Shocker's shouts of glee ringing through the comm unit in her ear so that she could hardly hear her own. This was the part of the job that never got old. Well, besides everything else.

Her blood ran hot, pulsing through her body with the speed and temperature of a freight train. This was the life. She spread her arms out and angled her body downward to pick up speed.

"Okay, we got the son of a ***** in sights," Shocker finally settled down long enough to give a briefing. "Big, green guy, looks angry, really angry. Okay pair up. Nightcrawler and Steel go in for direct contact, Doms and I will lay down suppressing from the rooftops. Watch for civilians. Hopefully the cops have done their job and we wont have to worry about that. YEEEHHHHAAAWWWW."

Domino scanned the area for Shocker and found him, then pulled her chute and began to follow.

"That's it Steel, give him hell."

She got closer to the rooftop where Shocker had landed, and before long was coming in hot. She approached, lifted her legs a bit, and stumbled forward as she landed and let the chute fall in front of her. She gained her footing, stood up, removed the goggles from her eyes and flipped her short black hair back behind her face and saw Shocker waiting.

"Suppressing fire, huh?" Dom walked past Shocker to the edge of the rooftop and pulled her rifle from the holster on her back. "You're fun."

She laid the barrel on the side of the roof and adjusted the scope as necessary, looking through it a few times to get a good read. She closed her right eye and looked through with her left.

"Somebody's pissed." She looked closer, and noticed something strange. She removed her eye from the scope and checked the zoom, then looked through again. "Uh, Herman? Call me crazy, but I think that hulk is getting bigger."
