Wow… this place has been silent for 2 years already…
And 19 years ago I posted here for the first time. It’s crazy how time flies. I guess, I’ll post here the story of my picnic dress, that started 19 years ago.
Do you remember the guy in Anakin costume, with whom I took photos in picnic Padme dress back in 2007 at out local Russian convention? We met there for the first time.[IMG]
Guess what? He moved to my house in 2013, and I finished the dress completely in 2013. I redid the corset for better fit and completed the vining of the skirt. I did it to participate in the Costume contest Celebration Europe II in Essen. That was an amazing experience! I even met Kay_Dee behind the scene there. I won the First place with my dress in the Princess category and also got the Best of Show!

We got married with my Anakin three years later, in 2016. I made my wedding dress with a picnic inspiration hairstyle![IMG]
So many costumes were made, so many conventions visited together!

So, this dress has become our family heirloom, the costume that has brought us together.

We’ve got 3 kids now… not so much time for cosplay and stuff, but we try our best!
Last spring we took all our children to the local convention! There is an 11 years gap between these two photos. Wow, we will be forty in three years.

    And now…
I feel a bit nostalgic that social media completely took the place of forums, I kind of miss those threads and discussions, the warmth and encouragement that was always here.
By the way, I still have the scraps of picnic fabric as well as the sequins, so I’m into doing the doll version of Picnic Dress!
Never old for this stuff anyway ;)

@Sotis you have a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing the photos.

Doll dresses with your scraps is a great idea! I hope you’ll share pics and tell us how they come out.
