I think most people don't notice this, but there is a lot of parallelism between Ep.VI Luke and Ep.I Kenobi and how they become Jedi knights.

But not sure why people choose to ignore this similarities and I think these is one of the most underrated connections between the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy.

Opening scene with a hooded figure.

    They completed their Jedi training.

But they needed to face with the dark siders before becoming a Jedi.

The dark siders who did this to them.

They fought with rage and hate.

They lose and they get tortured.

The winner dark siders were laughing at them.

But the dark siders loses by a fall.

They won by using a green lightsaber.

Their masters asked them to train others just before dying.

That’s a good one and one I somehow missed all this time. Mirroring between episodes 1 and 6 does go along somewhat with the ring theory. I would say that there is parallel in their arcs in general going from padawan/trainee to Jedi Knight and subsequently failed teacher (I will refrain from my commentary on my feelings regarding Luke’s actual failure). If Obi Wan is redeemed by his newest pupil to reverse the failure of his former student then Luke’s newest “student” will possibly redeem his previous failure as well?

And they both had mentors struck down right before their eyes.

There’s also the reverse of two Jedi vs. one Sith juxtaposed against two Sith vs. one Jedi.

Great catch! I’ve always been aware of the strong links between Qui-Gon and Luke, but this makes it very clear that Luke mirrors Obi-Wan as well.

...and apparently, Maul’s part in it is reflected in Sidious as well as Vader.

Then there’s Qui-Gon and Anakin dying in a similar way, of course...
Most of these characters mirror each other in some way or other. It’s quite brilliant, really.

    I forgot to mention;

-Both TPM Kenobi and RotJ Luke were in their 20's (Kenobi was 25, Luke was 23)
-They could become a Jedi only by facing with the murderers of their Jedi Masters (Maul killed Qui-Gon, Vader killed Ben Kenobi)
-They both lose their first lightsabers to the murderers of their Jedi Masters, TPM Kenobi lost his first lightsaber to Maul, Luke lost it against Vader in ESB.
    -They both caught their opponents by surprise due to suddenly pull their lightsabers with the Force, TPM Kenobi was unarmed and RotJ Luke didn't want to fight and Vader had RotJ Luke's lightsaber;

Then Luke pulls the lightsaber and catches Vader by surprise. Maul as well wasn't expecting Kenobi to use Qui-Gon's lightsaber, and he thought that Kenobi was unarmed, and Kenobi catches him by surprise.

    Really interesting parallels. Thank you!
I'd only say that the last imagine you posted is actually a mistake. Vader is not supposed to have Luke's lightsaber at all (that part was deleted).

I'll be honest, these generally seem to be pretty superficial connections.

Obi-Wan is the Luke of the prequels, Anakin is more like Han.
Luke and Obi-Wan also appear in the first episode of the subsequent trilogy as old men with grey beards, living in exile because their apprentices turned evil. Both also die after fighting a duel with said apprentice.

In the first draft of the first film, Luke was a 60 year old general and Jedi Master with a grey beard, before being turned into a Jedi Apprentice.
In the first draft of Episode I, Obi-Wan was also a Jedi Master, dressed in black just like Luke had been.

I think the superficial parallels are meant to make you dig deeper into the motivations of each character and their roles in each respective trilogy. It also emphasizes the role of destiny in guiding the events of the saga as a whole.

For me, this parallelism is more between the movies than between the characters. Obi-Wan couldn't turn to the dark side; his "anger" is understandable, etc.

Obi Wan and dying QuiGon does remind me of Luke and Vader.
