Petition: Should the Welcome forum be changed back to its original name?

Just for the record, I believe those last two options were suggested by.....

Call me a hypocrite, but I just can't stand the new name of the Welcome Forum. Welcome Jedi Younglings is so clichè.

You must admit though, most newbies were bought into the new title and havn't experienced the glory of the old one.

I feel more confortable being called a 'User', it's more generic. 'Youngling' makes me sound like some reptilian young thing.

I say, the old name is best, it's old, it's unoriginal, but it works. I've been here for a year now and the old name was certainly more user friendly and inviting, the new name makes us all sound like fanboys(or girls) and I want my dignity.

Call this a rally for support. I am so for getting the name changed back.

 

I chose the 4th one, though I think the second best one (and the one that is more likely to be used) is the "Welcome New Users" one.

 

Actually, I don't think any of the newbies think they are called 'younglings.' I certainly haven't been calling them that and I haven't seen it anywhere. The title sounds odd, but there is no significant reason to change it. They wanted to use the new term that was introduced in AOTC. It makes sense.

 

Out of curiousity, I just wanna see the reaction (and the *ahem* drama ) that would be created if the fourth option was accepted by the admin

Chances are, you are a fanboy (or girl) if you take the time to register and post at a messageboard at a SW fan site. But that's just what I think.

 

I don't really care. I think they should just move the Announcements forum to Administration.

I think the new name causes people to think it's for people new to SW, not necessarly the boards. So I vote to change it back.

 

Personally I don't think it matters but I like the way it relates to Star Wars now.

I'm not really bothered either way, at least the old way doesn't make the new member (irespective of age) blush when they see it for the first time.

Honestly it wouldn't bother me which name is used, though I think 'Welcome New Users' is the simplest and most straightforward.

As long as newer users can find and read the forum that's what matters the most in the end.

 

I just dont see what difference the name makes. New users, or Younglings, it really doesnt matter.

 

I say change it back. Heaven's forbid that someone may join and not have seen AOTC so that they don't know what a youngling is. Welcome New Users is the simplest.

 

Yeah if you wanted this taken seriously by users you probably shouldn't of put the fourth one in.

BTW if you like the old name just use the bottom drop box. Anyone know why that one doesn't get changed with the top one ?

 

Because the absent-minded Administrator (i.e. me) forgot it exists.

I fixed it to match the top one, but I think we can rename the "Welcome" forum if the majority prefer it that way.

 

No, leave it please! I like the new name, and it feels more welcoming to fans who are joining because of Episode 2!
