Pets in Sci-Fi / Fantasy.

In Red Dwarf, Lister had a cat called Frankenstein.

In Futurama, Fry had a dog called Seymour.

In TNG, Data has a cat called Spot.

In DS9, O'Brien takes on a cat called Chester.

I can't think of any others but ya know, there might well be others...

So are there other pets to add to the list?

In shows involving witches and the like, don't they often have familiars?

I loved the black cat (can't recall his name) in Hocus Pocus.

 

Oh! Oh! Oh! Astro from The Jetsons!

 

And Dino (sp?) from Flintstones, if you wanna go that route

 

In the film Dark Star, they had the 'beachball' alien.
And in Futurama, Nibbler was also considered a pet.

Ripley had Jones (or was it Jonesy?)

 

Indeed, the ale at the prancing pony wasn't the first thing Sam had seen come in pints.

 

There's a joke about pushing in someone's stool in the Prancing Pony, but I can't remember how it goes.



To some extent Chewbacca was Han Solo's pet.
The girl in Lost in Space had that alien thing.
Harry Potter has an owl.

yeh, but the movie has a PG rating, so that's out of the question.
However there's probably some Snape/Hermonie fan fic out there.
