Plot hole in the saga?

Lars, people do that everyday. The characters are supposed to be human.

 

Human, yes, but surreal?

 

? There is nothing bizarre about that scene!? Luke's just had his whole world turned inside out! His mentor has lied to him, almost causing him to kill his own father, who it turns out is considered the most evil guy in the galaxy - and almost killed him as well.

Not to mention almost going into shock from losing his hand.

Luke's having some difficulty processing all this information at once, and and having some disbelief from all this is not"surreal". How well would you have dealt with all this?
