I guess I take the opposite view. It is hard to notice these things. To admit them to yourself—let alone to others. Part of the reason discussion about race in this country is so retrogressive is that too many people think they should be beyond criticism simply for not being a card-carrying member of the KKK.

This is the alternative. Showing how even committed, sophisticated thinkers on race can still have weak areas or work to di. How, in some ways, it’s not so much a personal issue as a cultural one from which no one is entirely immune.

Unless it's, like, food or something (see: the UK), I don't know why I should care about the supply issues. People whining about Christmas presents makes it seem even more unimportant. Oh no, we'll have less plastic crap to throw away!

Look, I prefer that when politicians give a dismissive thumbs down to their suffering constituents that they do it with a sassy little dance move. There's a little extra attitude in the facial expression there, but it's just not enough.
