Penguin once owned a parrot. It was a kind, loving parrot that could clearly say "I like ice cream". So Penguin feed Sam the parrot rocky road, french vanilla, and neopolitan. One day, Penguin went out for a walk in the park with Sam. Sam stated, yet again, his desire for the cool treat. Being a warm, humid day, Penguin walked with Sam to the nearest Baskin Robins. Searching the coolers, Sam stated a yearning for a single scoop of bubble gum. His logic mares from the lowered salt content due to perspiration from the summer's day, Penguin ordered Sam the colorful scoop. Sam choked on a piece of gum moments later.

Le_Penguin likes the Simpsons, alot. Maybe he can explain what's with tonights substandard program.

 

Every new season of The Simpsons, like the Roman Emperors after Augustus, are involved in a spiraling freefall into garbage. Every season since the sixth (and parts of the seventh) has merely been a steadily fading shadow of what was once the greatest show on television. I used to tape the show religiously and go over each episode like it was the Zappruder film. I stopped at the beginning of the ninth season, having over 160 episodes. These days I don't even make a point to watch the new episodes. I catch about half of them when they're new and catch up with the rest when they go to syndication the following summer. I'll go so far as to say that nearly every episode in the past four years has at least one funny moment, but that's not saying much in comparison to season five classics like "Rosebud" (the one with Burns' bear) or "Cape Feare" (the best of the Sideshow Bob episodes.)What's on Sunday nights these days is _not_ the Simpsons that will be remembered in 20 years.
