Nearly 2am here. was confusing the two cache/cookies since now-a-days you have the option of mass clearing...unless you're using a browser from 1998

Oh good. I was typing a pedantic explanation of what the cache actually does.

In addition to cookies, sites can cause various pieces of non-cookie data to be stored in your browser. A common example is permanent redirects (your browser now knows to never try the old address again but just request the new address right away). If that data becomes invalid, it can cause errors and needs to be cleared, but usually your browser never knows to clear it (e.g. because it never requests the redirected URL again and therefore is unable to see that the redirect was changed or removed).

Firefox has a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button (when you click the lock in the URL bar) that clears both cookies and this type of data for the domain you're currently on. Between the two, that solves 99% of login issues that aren't caused by a bug on the server (and does so without logging you out of everything everywhere). I don't know if Chrome has an equivalent button because I rarely use Chrome.

 

Weird that this seemed to happen to a bunch of people around the same time, though. I've been experiencing similar login issues, across multiple devices, for several days now. I guess I'll try clearing the cookies and see if that helps.

 

Not weird at all. Take the example of a permanent redirect I mentioned above. When that redirect changes on the server side, it breaks things for everyone who has that redirect stored. Despite the problem being caused by the server, the fix is to locally clear the site data, thereby removing the stored redirect. (Ideally a redirect served with a 301 Moved Permanently code should never be changed to point elsewhere again, but some sites change them anyway.)

 

In any event, clearing cache and cookies did not help - I'm still experiencing the login issue. No biggie, as logging in a second time usually does the trick, but just thought I'd mention it since others are.

 

I have had issues in the past were I will post one post and then it will log me out. Or like something and log me out. This was the first time where I couldn’t even log in. It was just redirecting me to the home page, but not logged in. This was only a problem in like Tuesday Of last week about five or take a day or two.

For anyone experiencing this issue try checking off the “always signed in button” see if that helps

 

I had the Admin CP login issue again today. Clearing the cache (not cookies) seems to have fixed it - for now, anyway..

 

This issue has been noticed on my end with multiple computers and mobiles as well, so I can confirm that. It's definitely gotten a lot worse and others have told me they've noticed increased issues as well.

Sounds like it is connected to the site somehow, it's the only common denominator?

 

I had the issue again signing in through my computer. Pressing the “stay logged in” button seemed to be the only solution on my end.

 

I'm traveling for about 24 hours shortly. I'd love to catch up on all the RP games I've been missing in my absence but won't have internet for the majority of my trip. Is there a way to save (or download) an entire thread with all its posts for offline viewing? I'd love to just read everything start to finish.

 

Don't know of any way offhand - it's not something I've done. If anyone has any ideas other than copying/pasting the screen image of each page feel free to chime in.

 

All I can think of is by saving the page out as a PDF... but then you’ll have to do that page by page to save the entire thread offline

All this week, I try to sign in to my account and it takes multiple times. Today, I tried ten times and on the 11th it worked. Any reason why it's like this? Because I was about to create a new account. lol

It's been happening to me quite frequently as well. At first it was only 2-3 times. Then it seemed to get better. This morning it took me like 5 or 6 tries a couple of times.

However, I'm using a cheap old Asus laptop, with Windows, and Firefox as my browser. So I figure somewhere along that chain something is getting messed up.

 

Pressing the stay logged in button works for me

 

that isn't a practical solution for people who have one big family computer for the whole household.
