Preserving materials?

    I want to attach a set of objects to each other, but each has its own distinct material and mapping. How would I go about preserving these when I attach them?

    And, in the case that no one knows what app I use by now, Max.

    Well if you group them, they will still have their materials, but I don't know about attatching, myabe grouping would work also.

    I want them as a single object, so I can do things like apply a smooth modifier to the whole thing.

    Yeah, you can apply smooth to groups
