    Hasbro?s Plans For 2006

While this list is subject to change, this is what we can expect from Hasbro?s The Saga Collection line. While many may think this is all for 2006, it is expected that the first couple of waves (ROTJ 1 and TESB waves) should hit retailers as soon as December. Oddly enough, you?ll notice the stronger presence of background characters that we have grown accustomed to in non-movie years. This time there are even some slightly, almost Expanded Universe offerings.

Star Wars Saga Basic figures asst
Listed below are the first seven planned waves. We could see more than these seven, but nothing that Hasbro has commented on as of yet. While ordered chronologically, the waves will not follow a chronological order.

    The Phantom Menace
    Gungan Rep Been
    Naboo Soldier
    Podracer pilots 2pk
    Gragra: Mos Espa Merchant

New Wave Of Saga: Battle Of Yavin

The Battle Of Yavin/ Death Star Wave:

As the wave name would indicate, this set of figures will feature characters we?ve all been wanting forever. Thankfully, the line will have next to no rehashes. Here?s the scoop:

    Han Solo
This version of the rogue will utilize interchangeable parts not unlike the Dagobah Luke Skywalker figure from the OTC line. He?ll be packed with a headset (so he can tell his farmboy friend to blow that thing so they can go home?), interchangeable hands so the figure can have gloves or bare hands, and a medal (!!!). No word if this figure?s shirt will be buttoned up or opened, but it is a new sculpt.

    Luke Skywalker
He?s just blown up the Death Star and about to live all his dreams. The future is looking bright for Luke, so he throws on his stylish yellow jacket (no doubt to impress that hot brunette he just rescued), and goes to get himself a medal of honour. This version of Ceremony Luke will be a complete resculpt. Wondering why they made this instead of an X-Wing Luke? Well quit it! You?ll have that one soon enough (my lips are sealed).

    Rebel Sentry
Remember that Rebel Soldier on sentry duty? You know, the dude in the crows nest scanning the Falcon as it approaches the Rebel Base? We?ll here he is, and if a totally new sculpt isn?t enough for this army builder, he comes complete with his with his little fort in the sky.

    X-Wing Pilot
This figure will be built upon the wicked Dutch Vander body, but with a repainted helmet and a totally new head sculpt. Fear not, this one couldn?t suck as much as you fear it will. If there?s one thing I can tell you, Hasbro knows how to make great X-Wing pilots now, and they want to hook you up. No word on who this pilot will actually be.

    Death Star Trooper
This figure is going to be slightly retooled, but who can say if that?s going to be just a new head sculpt , a repaint, or a total kit bash. Let?s hope for the latter since the POTF2 version of this figure was 100% crappy.

    The Battle Of Geonosis

The third wave in Hasbro?s new Star Wars line, The Saga Collection takes collectors back to the huge battle that made up the third act of Attack Of The Clones. As an added treat, Hasbro has thrown in a figure based on a popular video game; the first of many Expanded Universe characters to pepper the line. Here?s a look at who and what we'll get:

    Sora Bulq

This dude managed to get through Attack Of The Clones with all his limbs, but you can bet he?d be kicking himself for saving that no good Anakin Skywalker? If Anakin didn?t hand him his assets off screen in Revenge Of The Sith (or so you can assume). This figure will be the first new Weequay sculpt since 1998. Sure he?s another dead guy, but that?s usually what has to happen to a Weequay before anyone will immortalize him in plastic. looking on the bright side, at least this Weequay got a name.

    Sun Fac

Who? Oh yeah, that guy in AOTC that hung out with the badguys and kinda kept quiet. Well, the new figures don?t come with Commtech chips, so this newly sculpted figure will be able to do everything the real Sun Fac did. That said, there has been some talk about the Commtechs coming back. More on this in early April?

    Commander Scorch

Ah, those lil? gamer kids are going to crap themselves, right? You betcha! Not only is this a figure based on a Clone, it?s a brand new sculpt based a Clone in the Republic Commando game. No brainer. Big winner? If you prefer new sculpts over crappy repacks that is. Speaking of repacks?

    Jango Fett

Well R2-D2 tells us the odds of this being the Super Articulated definitive Jango Fett we?re all hoping for is 4, 815, 162, 342 to 1? but he has been known to make mistakes? From time to time. Let?s hope he does since the only Geonosis Jango Fett they made sucked most heinously and none of us want to see it on any card ever again. Hear that Hasbro? Nah, probably not. They don?t listen to their customers.

    Yoda

ARGHHH!!!! A repack? Can?t we get a good Yoda first? Fans holding their breath for a decent AOTC Yoda better take a deep one, ?coz we?re still in repack land.

    C-3PO

Remember that cool scene in AOTC when C-3PO got his head swapped with a Battle Droid? Wasn?t that zany fun? Thanks to this repaint, Hasbro will insure that we?ll never forget.

    Poggle The Lesser

He?s got one of the coolest names in all of the prequels. He?s also one of the coolest looking aliens to come out of the CGI world of AOTC. Thankfully, Hasbro also did a great job on the sculpt the first time around, because this bad boy is nothing more than a repack.

    The Battle Of Coruscant

Seems like this wave should have been called ?Characters That At One Point Or Another Were On Coruscant?. While we get a lot of key players in the opening battle, we also get a few characters that had nothing to do with that battle? At least not on screen. As an added bonus to the Expanded Universe fans, we also get another character from The Clone Wars.

    Commander Cody

All right, hands up for everyone frothing from the mouth for this Clone commander. One, two, three? uh, yup. That?s everyone in the room. OK, it?s official, this dude is the text book example of ?sought after?. Collectors will be especially pleased to know that this figure is a new sculpt.

    Foul Moudama

This guy's huge and kind of out of left field, so collectors should not be surprised that this figure is little more than a retool. You can expect Hasbro to revisit the Muftak mould, but they may surprise us with a kit bash that is based on the Tanus Spijek figure from 2004. Either way you can count on this being a ?movie style? non-animated Clone Wars figure.

    Coruscant Firespeeder Pilot

Finally we?ll see what the other 80% of this character?s body looks like. Thanks greatly to the totally original sculpt this hero
