Pretty well confirms what I saw in the replay, Chase had the car straightened out and then just hooked it. Should be a one race suspension based on precedent, we’ll see if NASCAR has the stones to actually do it.

So happy Blaney finally got one! He was tearing up in the post race interview. Love seeing that kind of emotion!

elliott suspended for gateway, lajoie will drive the 9.

great opportunity for a great driver who hasn't gotten many of them. kudos to nascar for being consistent and sidelining their golden boy.

Hendrick Motorsports said in a statement that they will not appeal the suspension but will formally petition for (another) playoff waiver for Chase. This will be hotly debated, but I believe it should be granted for two reasons. First, the purpose of the rule requiring an attempt at every race is to prevent deliberate sandbagging by winning a race and then disappearing until playoff time; this is not sandbagging, and over the years, waivers have been liberally granted for all manners of justified reasons for involuntarily missing races. Second, the punishment should fit the crime, and denying Chase any shot at the playoffs doesn't fit IMO. The one-race suspension is enough for a first offense.

Besides, the guy who parked a car at the start/finish line during an Xfinity race earlier in the year, got suspended, and got a playoff waiver, didn't he?
Bubba Wallace got suspended for a race for wrecking someone, so did Chase. The precedent is there.

L3 penalty for the #14 car for counterfeiting a single-source part. 120 points and 25 playoff points docked for both owner and driver, $250,000 fine, and crew chief suspended for six races, the minimum set of penalties for the L3 level.

Stewart-Haas's statement: "We had a quality control lapse and a part that never should’ve been on a car going to the race track ended up on the No. 14 car at Charlotte. We accept NASCAR’s decision and will not appeal."

Turned on Sonoma in the late stages.

You can count the fans in the stands.

    California over NASCAR?

Feel Bad for Mcdowell. Nobody had anything for Truex but that was a top 3 car if the last pitstop hadn't went south.

Chicago street race is getting odd. Last night's Xfinity race was stopped due to lightning two laps short of official and unable to be resumed today before they had to shift to Cup operations due to flooding, and since Monday racing is not an option for a street course that city residents need to drive to work on in the morning, they took the unusual step of declaring the race official even though it technically wasn't.

Now the Cup race is about to start over an hour late following track drying, but it's still raining and so wet-weather rules are in effect, which means we'll see the usual wet-weather equipment and possible single-file restarts.

I believe standing water was the concern earlier today, wets won’t keep the cars from hydroplaning in those conditions.

Correct. I shortened that to "flooding" above as I had seen a news article refer to it as such, but yes, standing water and hydroplaning was the problem. As I explained to someone on Facebook who was complaining about NASCAR being sissies for not racing in the rain, even Formula 1 red-flags races for standing water.

Cup cars are coming to the green flag right now!

Drivers get points for every barrier they can hit but still drive away from.

Bonus points for the driver who can hit it the slowest without doing it intentionally.
