Raising a Skywalker - the Beru and Shmi discussion thread - Index started! Challenge in 1st post

The Unofficial Encyclopedia entry says this woman's family was captured by pirates when she was very young, and sold into slavery. She was passed form owner to owner over nearly three decades before being sold to Gardulla the Hutt. Not sure what sources it's from, but it looks like maybe the "Insider's Guide to Episode I"? (Or possibly SW Insider 77 or 80.)

Unless it's in Tatooine Ghost, but I don't remember it being in there.

I thought so, too. But I checked the archive and couldn't find any based on a search with Shmi Skywalker, that's when I went hunting for JG's story. I knew I had read somewhere the story of the masks and the Warrior god Anak-in. It appears Shmi's story just has kind of been pieced together through canon and fan fiction.

Edit: clarification (Shmi's story was pieced together, not JG's. )

I guess the reason I love Beru and Shmi so much is that they didn't have any special powers, they weren't political figures, they were nothing "special" if you just viewed their lives. But they had this HUGE impact on the galaxy through their love for a special boy. I like that idea.

There's a neat one in there about Anakin's origins that has Shmi in it. And the more I think about it, the more I remember another one that had Shmi, but I couldn't find it yesterday. I'll chalk it up to board errors.
