I'll never forget that junkyard scene in Kenobi. It looked like they literally just wandered in to a local junkyard to film the scene. Atrocious!

    1) The Book of Boba Fett
    2) The Mandalorian Season 2
    3) Obi-Wan Kenobi
    4) Ahsoka
    5) The Acolyte
    6) The Mandalorian Season 3
    7) The Mandalorian Season 1
    8) All live-action footage filmed for Disney theme park rides
    9) Every deleted scene, no matter how justified its cut
    10) All live-action footage filmed for commercials, ads, and other promotional tie-ins
    11) Yep, even the kids swooping LEGO sets around whilst yelling, "Awesome!!"
    12) Any in-character impression, ad-lib, or response given by any cast member in an interview
    13,987) Andor

The top three, I'd give 10/10 (on the understanding that nothing's ever perfect, but giving 'em a ten acknowledges that they got as close as possible). Ahsoka is a solid nine. The Acolyte and the other Mando seasons are very, very strong eights.

I do need to re-watch Ahsoka, though. I'm holding dear to many of its individual components, but have yet to binge it, to see how it all hangs together.

The Acolyte was superb. Really hope its general reception doesn't prevent future projects from being so bold.

I don't think I've ever seen that much vehemence against Andor. But to each their own.

I think the mundaneness of the setting contrasted with the mythic epicness of the combatants, works really well. Reminded me of the Rogue One hallway ending scene, in that regard. I mean, it’s a hallway with regular old dudes defending it. And then a demon with a fiery sword appears. Which also adds extra horror to the scene. Because you can easily imagine yourself in that setting (a hallway, a junkyard), while it’s not so easy to imagine yourself on a platform in the middle of a lava river at the base of an active volcano.

I found the junkyard scene effective for that very reason. It has a proper horror vibe, elevated by the existential horror that is Vader. In other words, a demon in a junkyard is scarier than a demon in a demon tower. IMO.

Yes yes, we are all entirely familiar with your need for a space fantasy to take place "A not so long time ago in Newark, Delaware..."

I like both personally. Like the hallway scenes in the ESB Luke and Vader fight. It feels spacey but also very mundane. Like a mining operation. I also love Mustafar which was anything but mundane. Probably my fav sequence in the whole series.

My ranking approach, and thoughts on the above shows, are in the previous thread.

    6. The Acolyte
I like the worldbuilding, score, choreography, and even the character dynamics in the first half. After that point, I think the show revealed that it values plot more than character, that it's ultimately a narrative construct given form in separate characters. I think that what Mother Aniseya did is essentially what Leslye Headland did first.

I always thought “A not so long time ago in a sales tax haven not far south of New Jersey” would have been a preferable opening.

    1. The Mandalorian
    2. The Book of Boba Fett
    3. Ahsoka
    4. Andor
    5. Kenobi
    6. The Acolyte

Mando still tops the list, mixing the spiritual and grounded aesthetics of Star Wars fantastically. Incorporates a lot legacy characters in smart ways and pushes the post-OT era forwards. Boba came off as a weaker Mando, but still had enough to charm me. Ahsoka was held back in a few places, but overall kept me very engaged, and I'm very excited for its follow-up season. Andor did a lot right, but was held back by a wonky sense of pacing and some unnecessary murkiness with its backstory that I never quite felt satisfied with. As an attempt to expand on the story of the movies, Kenobi was certainly trying, but budget issues and a lack of justification for its existence never resolved.

The Acolyte, despite a few solid characters and some fantastic duel choreography, was a muddled mess, with unclear character motivations, odd story beats that felt vague rather than intriguing, and a strange sort of insular quality to the world design and lore. I'm not talking about retconning Ki-adi Mundi's birthday or whatever, just a sense that the show needed more of a mythic heft to it that it didn't seem to be aspiring towards (outside of a few strong scenes with Qmir). It felt to me like it added the least to Star Wars, although I can see the intent to explore a moral debate. I just think it failed at really digging into it or presenting it particularly interestingly.

    1. The Mandalorian (mostly due to seasons 1 and 2, but 3 was still okay. I just wish they hadn't shoehorned an episode and a half into BoBF. o_O)
    2. The Book of Boba Fett. Anything that delves into non-human cultures in the GFFA is almost always going to get a higher rating from me. Plus, an animatronic Ithorian! A Wookiee! Two Twi-leks! Gamorreans! Bliss! [face_party] Aliens, along with Jedi and the wildlife (rancor for the win!), are Star Wars' biggest attractions. And this was the first time I had any interest in Boba Fett himself, who up until this series was just Some Guy in a Suit. I've never understood the appeal of bounty hunters.
    3. Ahsoka. Non-human main character, snarky droid, space whales... Granted, there were some things that didn't necessarily make sense to me, but overall I enjoyed it and would watch a second season.
    4. Kenobi. Less interesting than the above three, but young Leia was fun to watch.

Distant 5. Both Andor and The Acolyte. I really can't rank them because I couldn't finish either of them. I bailed out of both around episode 5 (and with Andor, it was my second attempt at watching. The first time, I fell asleep during the first episode, although to be fair, that wasn't entirely the show's fault...). Acolyte killed off most of the interesting characters midway through, and I just couldn't work up any enthusiasm for Andor.

That's how I would probably feel about BoBF if it was all as good as the Tusken parts or the Cad Bane parts

    1) Acolyte
    2) Andor.
Tbh, Andor is better made, but Acolyte has Jedi/Sith and the Force so it goes up for me.
    3) Ahsoka. Last episode had some "what the heck am I watching?" scenes (the Star Destroyer raining hellfire and the heroes just rushing through it -- that ugly shot of Sabine, Ezra and Ahsoka deflecting stormtrooper fire), but overall I thought it was good.
    4) Kenobi. Carried by the climax of "You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker... I did" -- everything else was passable as build-up to that.
    5) The Mandalorian. I don't really care about mandalorians and season 3 brought it down
    6) Book of Boba Fett. The Tusken episode was great and seeing Master Luke was interesting even though it had nothing to do with the show.

This is also my ranking (but I would more Ahsoka second), although I am more generous with the grades. I would grade even Mando S3 with a 6 or 7. Objectively, your ratings make more sense, but I allow my SW love to blind me:).

:) I gotta say, if this was a "rank individual scenes / moments from all shows" discussion then yeah, my list would look a lot different.

I thought Luke in the last episode of season 2 was widely held to be one of THE SW moments of all time.... none are perfect but no star wars ever has been

You’re missing out. Some people had a little difficulty with the mini-arc that is the first three episodes, but overwhelmingly, fans loved episodes 4-12. So stick it out. I suspect you won’t regret it.
