    1. Revenge of the Sith: Especially after the Clone Wars. Dang. i cri evertim. plo koon though
    2. Attack of the Clones: Childhood nostalgia all the way! I just love the designs, worldbuilding, music and setup for Clone Wars and RotS. It messes up Anakin's character, but Clone Wars fixes that, so who cares.
    3. Return of the Jedi: I loved it as a kid. The scenes between Luke, Vader and finally Sheev are so tense, the archetypes are on point. And the (new) music at the end! Ah man. So much epic. (Also almost makes me tear up when Anakin appears as a ghost. The circle is *now* complete.)
    4. A New Hope: It is honestly the greatest and the one that started it all, but it hasn't made me get super emotional yet so
    5. The Empire Strikes Back: Liked it, it's just a bit slow.
    6. Rogue One: I loved it, but it made me *too* sad...
    7. The Phantom Menace: lkdjasdfisidojf
    8. The Last Jedi: It's so nihilistic and cynical, tries to insult you for wanting to see good guys do good stuff. Who needs that in Star Wars when I can just turn on the news?
I can't rank Solo and The Force Awakens because I haven't seen them.

    1. The Last Jedi - Just genius film making and takes the story to very new, unexpected places, which is a tall order for a Star Wars movie. Also filled with subtleties and new things to notice with each viewing.
    2. Return of the Jedi - Some of the most powerful scenes in the entire saga and my favorite ending of all time.
    3. The Empire Strikes Back - Balances all the elements so well. Definitely the best made of the OT, but I favor ROTJ over it due to the personal meaning ROTJ holds for me.
    4. The Force Awakens - Wild ride and nonstop action as is JJ's specialty. I like the repetition of themes as per TPM and ANH, allthough I thought Maz's castle was less thematic and more of a direct rip off of the Mos Eisley Cantina, lacking in any sense of originality.
    5. Revenge of the Sith - Clunkily made, but contains scenes that are so significant to the saga, that it overshadows ANH even though the latter is smoother.
    6. A New Hope - Fun movie to see with a crowd, but drags on a little at the beginning and seems a bit clunky.
    7. Solo - A fun movie to watch in it's own right, but the Darth Maul thing gets a little too EU referency for me
    8. Rogue One - Well shot and filled with great moments that both tie into and explain ANH, but the storytelling was generic
    9. The Phantom Menace - Embarrassingly lacking in life and relatability, but the best looking visually of all the movies.
    10. Attack of the Clones - Some cool action sequences but really embarrassing to watch otherwise.

Any reason you didn't see TFA and then saw TLJ without seeing TFA?

I'm not trying to make any underlying point, I'm just curious.

Funny story, at the time I didn't want to see TFA because I was going through a weird phase where too much mysticism in movies made me feel a little squicky, and it looked like TFA was going to have a bit of that from the trailer. And then by the time TLJ came out I was over that, but by then I knew the story of TFA pretty well from having it told to me, and a lot of people I spoke to said TFA was bland, so I never bothered.

Updated my list from the last two month of re-watching all the films.

I hadn't watched TFA and TLJ since March of last year when I got to them. They do not hold up well at all. They're really poor examples of world building and logical character progressions. Abrams and Johnson methods of storytelling do not work well together at all. I think any excitement I actually felt for Episode IX evaporated.

Do you guys consider the TCW theatrical release a proper Star Wars, that it should be ranked with the rest of the films? I feel like it's tricky ground.

Nope. It’s just three or four episodes edited into a movie, and it looks as such. IMO, releasing it theatrically was a serious misfire. Should never have happened.

It's the sole reason I put off watching the actual series for so long, and I've seen a ton of people say the same. The four episodes that comprise the film aren't awful on their own, but when you're either forced to watch all four of them edited together or leave the theater, it makes the unenjoyable aspects of all four taken as a collective borderline grueling. If they simply premiered the series on Cartoon Network with "The New Padawan" as the pilot episode and taken it from there, I think a lot of people (myself included) wouldn't have been so quick to dismiss the show.

I didn’t like the arc concept for TCW for that reason—it seemed like Filoni and LFL wanted to make several mini movies and were forced to put them in half-hour episodes instead. That’s OK for a few long-ranging storylines here and there but at the end of the series, it was nothing but arcs. Including a widely panned droid arc which, IIRC, Filoni advocated for a standalone but was told he was locked into an arc.

I liked TCW movie but it was not one I would have gone to the theater for.

Yeah I remember how tedious the amount of arcs were in Season 5. I think that's where a lot of the charm from Season 1 and 2 come in, where many episodes were standalone serial adventures.

I know this is cheating a little bit but...

    1.Star Wars (1977)
    2.The Empire Strikes Back
    3.Return of the Jedi
    4.The Force Awakens
5.The Fallen Knight (Last Jedi fan edit)
    6.Solo
    7.The Phantom Menace
    8.Revenge of the Sith
    9.Attack of the Clones
    10.The Last Jedi (actual movie)
    11.Rogue One

Note: For those who don't know, Fallen Knight is a 95-minute Last Jedi fan edit that removes all of the comedy and sub-plots, focusing the story down almost entirely to just Luke, Rey, and Kylo Ren.
