"How do you guys plan to win your damned war? I mean look at what you got? Seriously. A few starfighters? A hand full of people and an old war hero! That is not an army, it is not fleet, what is this actually?" The smuggler leaned against his ship and shook his head.

"A rebellion." Col. Taglian answered with a smile.

"A rebellion. A rebellion against the Empire. How many ships does the Empire have in the cluster? Two Star Destroyers, maybe a dozen smaller ships and what ... around a million soldiers? Man, the Moff is one of the most ruthless guys I have ever heard of. They won't loose any sleep over your tiny little act of disobedience you build here."

"They already do." The Colonel replied. "They cannot find us, they cannot intimidate us, they could not break us. Listen, I see what you mean. This here is not very impressive. We got no fleet. No nice armored forces to occupy cities. All we got is an idea. But ships can explode, soldiers can fall and planets can be taken away from you ... but how do you kill an idea?"

"By killing everyone who shares it." The smuggler said and crossed his arms.

"They tried that on Alderaan and it did the opposite. The idea spread even faster." The Colonel smile.

The smuggler shrugged at the mentioning of Alderaan. "Okay, see your point. So what is the plan? I mean you won't attack their planets in one big offense against their forces, right?"

The Colonel smiled. "We will take them from them, one by one."

The smuggler looked at him in disbelief, yet both me knew he was here after all. Running shipments for the Rebellion, even if he could pick up more profitable jobs.

Maybe he liked the idea the Colonel was talking about a little more than he admitted himself.

    -----------

Teliad had fallen. The city burned and the palace was crumbling, as the buildings closest to the explosion crumbled under the effect of the shockwave. Captain Stark watched in horror the holographic display showing the city represented in green light. He had seen planetary bombardments and war, he was a veteran of over sixty deployments and the Empire was not known for being shy of using extreme violence. But this had been so brutally effective he was simply shocked. The reactor explosion had not been the worst, but the shockwave. The shockwave had killed millions, including all of the Empire's second biggest Garnison within the Tares-Cluster. Civilian casualties had to be in the thousands. The single Raider-Class frigate hovering over the city had been ripped apart and descended into the city now. Unstoppable and with a reactor that was overheating too. It would demand another few hundred thousand casualties.

The Rebellion had not killed that many imperials in one attack since the Death Star.

"Shall we call reinforcements in, Sir?" Stark turned to the officer who had asked the question. They were now exposed and alone out here. A perfect next target for an attack. The Empire had lost enough for today.

"Looks like the Rebels finally learned how to wage a war. No, report to the Moff Teliad has fallen. Then prepare for retreat. The day belongs to the Rebellion, let us not help them make their victory any sweeter."

    -----

Admiral Ackbar looked at the Holofeed with horror.

"How did this happen?" He simply asked and Crix Madine stepped next to him.

"We don't know. The Tares command says the Rebels did not do this." He simply said.

"Nobody will believe that." Ackbar snarled.

"If we even get the word out there. I mean the act itself was terrible, but the Empire was crippled by loosing the kingdom of Teliad as an ally within the system. Their royal family was wiped out, the Empire's forces completely destroyed. Whoever is behind this, he dealt the Empire a terrifying blow." Madine said and folded his arms. "The Rebels in the Cluster have asked for reinforcement. We got several volunteers who are ready for deployment. A minor force, but maybe we can take advantage of this." Madine continued.

Ackbar gave him a long look. The disaster had value. How cruel this cosmic joke was. An act of extinction that was not only terrible, but also useful to the very force in the galaxy fighting against such cruelties.

"Send them. I have the feeling General Malantis can use any assistance she needs." The Admiral did not like it, but the Rebellion actually had a chance to make progress in liberating the cluster. A chance they had been waiting for since the establishment of the cell on Suran.

    ----------

    Welcome to the Rebellion.

This is a game set a year after the Battle of Yavin.

This game will tell the tale of a Rebel movement within the Tares-Cluster, a minor cluster in the outer rim known for his extensive mining operations and strategic importance.

The system is considered an imperial stronghold, governed with an iron fist by the ambitious and cruel Moff Tanis Caul. It is also home of a small rebel force operating from their secret base on Suran.

The game will tell the tale of the Rebels within the system and their fight to liberate the oppressed people within the cluster. It will be an adventure that explores not the heroes of the Rebellion we all know from the movies. You will be the heroes of Tares. It will be your decisions and actions that will define the fate of a whole star cluster.

    --------

    Characters

The obvious characters to play here are the Rebels. Rebels come from all parts of galactic society and each has his own reason to join the Rebellion. But they are united by one common goal. Bring the Empire (in this case the regime of Moff Caul) to an end and liberate the galaxy from the Empire's regime.

The game is not limited to Rebels though. Natives of the cluster, fringe elements and criminals, even Imperials are absolutely acceptable characters, as we will explore this storyline from many perspectives.

Any character is possible with two exceptions. No trained force users will be permitted and Moff Caul is a NPC.

    Name: Kanna 'One Eye' Rohas
    Species: Human
    Age: 23
    Rank: Lieutenant
Equipment: Filghtsuit, vibroblade in her boot, plastic, prison shiv taped to her arm, just in case, a heavy blaster pistol in a shoulder holster.
Appearance: Average height for a woman 5'4" with a defined physique and strong frame. Her body is covered in rough prison tattoos and scars each with their own story. The most important to her is a broken chain on her wrist. She would forever be free. Her hair is black and cut short, her skin tanned, and her left eye is gone, replaced with a burning red and grey cybernetic eye that can zoom, track enemies and help her keep spacial awareness.

Biography: A girl born on a planet in the middle of nowhere really she came into the galaxy just as the Clone Wars ended and the Empire rose to power. Her family kept to themselves kept their heads down doing what the Empire asked of them. Her father and mother worked hard day and night to provide for their daughter. This work ethic filtered down to Kanna, as soon as she could she started working to support her family.

But, it wasn't enough, it was never enough. The governor raised taxes again and again, and when a family couldn't pay they were thrown into prison to work off their debts, and their houses were repossessed. The house was all her family had that was theirs. They sold everything they could, worked themselves to the bone but, it wasn't enough. The Governor's shock troops came and forced them out. Her father resisted, her mother resisted, she resisted. In the scuffle her father was killed, her mother maimed, and she was blinded in one eye. She watched in pain with blood dripping from her empty socket as her only home burned to the ground.

She was taken into custody and thrown into prison, no trial, no jury, just a executive order. They wanted to break her to make her keep her head down forever...they failed. They only solidified her hate, strengthened her anger, and lit a burning fire of rage. She suffered for 5 years in prison, all with only a single eye. Until she was freed by a group Rebels. The Rebels gave her a new eye, and she volunteered to fight for the Rebels, she didn't have anywhere else to go and she had a burning hatred that needed to be quenched. When the call went out for volunteers for a mission to Tares-Cluster she jumped at the chance. She needed vengeance against the man that took her father, her mother, and her home...Moff Tanis Caul, formerly the Governor of her homeplanet.

At fifteen she knew she wanted to help Mandalore; and has just recently joined the Rebellion.

At first Shysa signed up to be a pilot after hearing about Luke Skywalker, but was eventually moved to a small squadron of troopers headed by Commander Rex, a former Clone Trooper that works closely with Mandalorians. Shysa has always been a good shot and had good reflexes, but has no idea that she is force sensitive. Shysa wants to do what she can for the Rebellion, and hopes that eventually she can make a difference. She was sent to the Tares System with a group of reinforcements from the Rebellion.

He father is a water technician in a small farming community near the Teliad Capital and she has learned the tricks of the trade from him. Her mum died when she was a baby. So it is only her and her Dad. It made her a strong-willed and independent young woman who takes as much care of her Dad as her Dad of her.

Without access to education she knows she will never travel the stars, also she dreams of joining a spaceship and see the world. Deep in her heart she knows she never will.

At least her father has not joined any foolish acts of resistance against the eternal rule of the Teliad Royal family. Loosing him would be the worst things imaginable to her.

Name: Commando Trooper X11/6 Aren Voren
    Species: Human
    Age: 35
    Rank: Lt. Commander
Equipment: Storm Commando armor, Sidearm, any weaponry he desires
    Appearance:

    Biography:

Aren was born to be a warrior. That much was clear since he was five year old who beat up boys double his age. Born in poverty on some mid-rim planet whose name he barely remembers he got the attention of Captain Tanis Caul, when he was a boy. The commander of the local Government took him from the streets and put him into an imperial youth center. Education, discipline, physical training were his reality. He loved it, he embraced it. He signed up for storm trooper training on Carida and soon excelled. They put him into flight academy where again he was best of his class. Commando training followed. That was a challenge finally and he saw the much desired action. He moved up quickly through the ranks. Everytime his superior died, he was the natural replacement. Eventually he got offered a position among the Emperor's royal guards. To everyone's surprise he declined. Ceremonial duty sounded to him like a punishment. He was made for war.

When the new Storm Commandos were formed he was top of the list to join the new elite of imperial warriors. He fought on Mimban, Gesaril, Bothawui, Kashyyyk. He lead black ops into Hutt Space and Mandalore, bested Mandalorians and warriors of all origins and sizes. When the rebellion finally arrived he believed he would finally have a Great War to fight in.

Happily he transferred to the Teres Cluster where his old sponsor was now ruling as a Moff. Tanis Caul again gave the young man special attention and when the Summer Rebellion happened on Teliad Aren was on the frontlines.

But war has changed. Less and less he was fighting against warriors. The Empire was more and more oppressing civilians. Aren did his duty, he burned down those villages, he killed those local leaders and assassinated those rebel sympathizers. Yet, this was not war. This was slaughter. He is a warrior, not a butcher. As he grew older he began to wonder for what and against who he actually fought. The Empire seems to turn on it's citizens and the slow burning idea of what an Empire is, if it does not protect it's citizens ... has taken hold in the back of his head.

Yet, he remains grateful and eternally loyal to the New Order and it's cause. Tanis Caul still is a father figure for him. Yet, a father figure whose generous side he knows, but who has a cruel side too.

His commanding officer on Gesaril once said: Doubting the Empire is treason.

Aren Voren becomes more and more concerned that he might become a traitor. Because despite all his loyalty, he cannot deny he has doubts.

    Age: 38
Rank: Captain ... well ... none officially
Equipment: Heavy Blaster pistol, comm unit, the custom made droid "Kiki" and the "Twilight Rider", his personal ship.
    Appearance:

Biography: Tab Loren has been running goods since he was born. Literally. His mother conceived and gave birth to him on a smuggling run. His whole family has been in the business. Making fortunes and loosing them again. He was never questioning or even doubting what he would do when he grew up. So one day his mum retired and he took over the family business.

But the galaxy had changed. The Empire spread like cancer among the stars. It brought opportunities, it also brought pain. He lost two partners and a ship to the Empire.

So when he finally acquired a new ride - the fast and nimble Twilight Rider - he decided it sounded like a pretty good idea to make a few runs for the Rebels. He had the right ship to make quick runs and these guys needed the shipment power. Soon he gained their trust and he flew missions to Yavin IV or Home One. Sometime he even climbed into a X-Wing to provide them with an extra pilot when they were short. He saw space battles. He survived them. He even made a few kills. Most comfortable he felt in his own ship. The risky jobs were always his first choice.

Lately he took the job to deliver some recruits to the Tares-Cluster. Sounded like a pretty routine job. He might hang around a bit to see what he can do to help there while the Rebellion is setting up their new homebase on Hoth.

Tragedy struck, however, when his brother was killed during a skirmish between Imperial and Rebel troops. Suddenly Alistair's life had a purpose: exacting revenge on the Empire, those he held responsible for the death of his brother, his closest friend.

Utterly focused on this goal, Alistair joined the ranks of the Rebellion against the Empire a couple years ago, and has managed to impress his superiors with his skills in combat despite his modest upbringing. Episode I: Teliad has fallen

    Onterion Imperial Complex, Moff's quarters

The penthouse of the Imperial Complex on Onterion was really hard to beat when it came to the view. The oceans around were only rivaled by the beauty of the islands surrounding the Empire's main base in the planet. Mayor Zern realized this always when he arrived up here and so he did today as the doors of the turbo lift slides apart and revealed the view. Only the figure of a sole man in Mandalorian armor disturbed the view. Balor, the Moff's mysterious personal bodyguard was present as always. Silent, brooding, not greeting the guest as the Mayor entered.

"Corvax. You are finally here." The voice came from veins the Imperial Officer as he left the lift and he turned around to see the Moff in the custom made white uniform he was nowadays wearing.

    Moff Tanis Caul and Balor

    Mayor Covax Zern

"Sir, I came as fast as I could. I understand this was an urgent summoning." Corvax Zern nodded and resisted the need to salute. For him Moff Tanis Caul was still an officer of the Imperial Navy, but he had long chosen a political career. From Governor to Moff of one of the most productive galactic mining areas in a few years. One had to admire the skill, network and ruthlessness one needed for such a brutally fast climb up the ladder.

"There is something on the desk for you. The black box." Moff Caul smiled, folding his hands behind his back. Corvax raised a brow. Then he slowly walked over to the desk and carefully opened the box there.

"A present." Moff Caul smiled and stepped closer. "For your collection."

"Is that ...? Where did you get this from?" Zern looked up at the Moff.

"Please, the Empire has it's way to acquire all kinds of items of exotic nature. This was taken form the cold dead hands of it's former owner." The Moff smiled and nodded. "Take it, my friend. It is yours."

Corvax Zern nodded and smiled. He could not help but smile. "Sir, I ... am not sure what I deserve such a present ..."

"It is not really a present. Major. It is an apology of sorts." The Moff stepped next to the officer and looked at him.

Zern understood immediately. "Teliad." He simply stated.

"Yes, Teliad indeed. Teliad has fallen and foul Rebels have made me look weak, incompetent and unable to protect what the Emperor has trusted me with. I need ... a reaction." The Moff gave him that mild smile that was showing his cruelty just a little.

"What do you have in mind, Moff Caul?" Zern asked and picked the box from the table. He now knew her would earn it.

Caul stepped to the window and looked up to the stars. "I want to find every person on the planet who expressed even sympathy for the Rebels or the attack to identified. I want them rounded up and executed. Then I want you to find their families. Their parents, the wifes, their children. They will have to die too. Everyone who even remotely supported this act shall have his entire bloodline wiped out. I want you to make them afraid, so terribly afraid of us even suspecting them to be Rebels, they will never even think about rising up against us." Caul turned to Zern. "You must find this man they call the Stranger. His friends. Neighbours. Everyone who ever invited him for a drink shall die." Caul turned to Zern. "Do you understand?"

Zern stared at the Moff for a moment and then nodded. "Understood, Sir."

"Good. Show me that Zern efficiency. Show them what it means to hurt me and the Empire. It means suffering." Caul nodded and turned to the window.

Zern did not ask about details, his lack of rank or the necessary resources for the operation. He knew all of this would be taken care of. If Moff Tanis Caul gave an order like this, he meant it.

    Teliad, Near the Dashona Settlement

The Twilight Rider had entered the cluster through the famous "sixth jump-point", which the Empire had still not located and secured. A part where the Asteroid belt was thin enough to enter the system unseen and undisturbed by any authority.

The Tares-Rebels had awaited them as expected, but what they had not expected was probably that they had not been escorted to the secret rebel base. No, they had immediately been assigned a first mission. The Teliad Disaster - as the explosion of the capitals major reactor was now called - had created and urgency and opportunity that did not allow for long introductions. No, the transport with Lerona Vialco, Shysa Eros, Alistsir Kint and the Duros Intelligence Operstive Moro Pest on board had been send directly to Teliad to meet Colonel Devon Tesp and receive orders.

The planet had been surprisingly empty of any imperial presence in orbit. The Empire had obviously withdrawn. They had made it to the coordinates undisturbed and were just putting their camouflage sheets over the transport, as the sun was going up over Teliad. Even here, miles away from the capital they could still see the massive clouds of smoke rising into the air from the burned city. Behind them was the city Dashona. Even from far away one could make out it was sprawling with activity as ships and cargo-gliders landed there and took off.

    Dashona

The planet itself seemed strangely silent though,as if in shock. Even the wind seemed not to dare to blow to loud over the desert landscape. A feeling of dread was lingering here, Shysa Eros feeling it stronger than her comrades probably. The anticipation of a coming storm was in the air.

From afar a single speeder made it's way towards the group. When it finally arrived a bearded human jumped out of it in full combat suit.

"Colonel Tesp, you must be the reinforcement." He said with a determined voice as he eyed the group. "We can certainly need a few extra guns down here. The situation is ... complicated." He gave a thin lipped smile. "Give me a quick who is who and let's get to work."

    Teliad, Dashona Aqua Culture Belt

Jobiah Brest was finishing the last of the water evaporators on the field and wiped his sweaty face. "That is it for today. Pack our stuff honey will you?" He sighed at his daughter and stood up. He was getting older, the way he stretched after a few minutes on his knees betrayed his aging process actually. With a sigh he turned to his daughter and smiled.

"Good business today. The funny thing about war ... people still need water. Right?" He looked at the pillar of smoke on the horizon. "Tomorrow we do the pond and get their pump system repaired. That should give us another hundred cred." He walked over to Alesya and kissed his daughters head. "So you babysit Morwen tonight? I know Chev wanted to attend this meeting. Politics. Wish he stayed away from them." Chev Solen was their longtime neighbor and probably her Dad's best friend. His five year old son probably looked forward to his babysitter routine. His mother was doing flights out of the capital and had been grounded since the attack.

"You might earn more than me with this babysitting if you continue to grow your business like this." Indeed Alesya had got quite a few requests. Many meetings were taking place now. Meetings to talk about the future. A future without the Royal family.

Imperial Troop Transport "Guardian VI", Deployment Bay

Three of the bulky large troop transports, two Raider-Class corvettes and the Imperial Star Destroyer Vigilance had been deployed. The Empire was going to Teliad with a massive force. Ten thousands
of soldiers on each of the three ships. Plus the ISDs full contingent. AT-ATs were prepared. AT-STs were loaded up with soldiers. Tie-Fighters were fueled. Tie-Bombers received their deadly load.

The whole might of the Imperial forces was ready to make an example of the planet.

The core of this strategy were the special forces though. Or as Mayor Zern put it - the soldier in charge despite his low rank - he needed guys who could think and shoot. In the briefing room near the deployment hangar he explained why to Aren Voren and his squadron.

"We will burn the Rebellion out of the planet root and stem. But that is not all we are gonna do. As retribution for the terrible crime the Rebels have committed we will also execute a retaliation strategy targeted at the families of those who have ties with the Rebellion. We will simply kill them all." He let these words sink in for a moment, before continuing. "Your operations area is Dashona. One of the larger settlements. The 41st Army regiment will secure the city, while you seek out our targets and execute them. The first twenty-four hours are essential. After that we can expect the Rebel cowards to go into hiding. So I expect you to act quick, precise and effective. Collateral damage is acceptable."

Which meant they would rather kill to many than one to little.

"You will land in zone 9 and each of you will be assigned fifteen targets. You split into groups of two and each will take care of three such targets. We expect minimum resistance. When resistance is encountered call in for reinforcements. The 22nd armored division is on standby in the area, the Scaper Squadron is securing air superiority." The Major nodded to the group of black armored soldiers.

"Any questions?" He asked. The comrades of Aren had none.

    Asteroid Belt, Near Rassil Station

Kanna Rohas had not joined the rest of the Rebels on their way to Teliad. Then again, she also had her own ship. General Madine had got an X-Wing repaired in time for her to make the journey. Considering the Rebels in the Cluster had not even a full squadron, every bit of firepower would be welcome the Rebel High Command had assumed.

Truth this was not really an X-Wing, but more like the surviving parts of two X-Wings spliced into one. The system was a bit buggy and already on her journey here the R3 Unit in the sock behind the cockpit had been busy fixing at least two system failures. Minor ones, but the fighter needed a serious check up.

Something he would not get right away. Econ Waver, Wing Commander of the local "squadron" had forwarded orders to the
Smuggler and then taken Kanna under his command. They had basically jumped right into his mission. It had lead them to the Tares Asteroid field, actually deep into it.

As they were entering it Kanna probably realized Waver obviously had a lot of practice in this. The Wing Commander almost effortlessly flew between the hurling and potentially deadly rocks. "Get used to this field. We spend a lot of time here. Imperial shipments here cannot be shielded by their capital ships so they are vulnerable." He explained, actually now becoming a little more talkative. "So we are here to escort a Rebel Operative out of the field. Actually I expect him to have got himself into trouble. He almost always does." The Wing Commander sighed. "So I thought picking him up would be worth the detour. Something we don't necessary need to mention to the General, if you know what I mean." Waver sighed and dived an especially large and fast moving Asteroid.

On their radar a single ship suddenly blinked. "Yaren, what the hell are you flying there?" Waver asked over comm.

"Something slow." A gnarly and unnerved voice came back. Another two points appeared on the radar, coming closer quickly. "Could you please make these Gentleman see reason?"

"Affirmative. Empire?" Waver accelerated his X-Wing.

"No, security." Yalen replied and Waver laughed.

"Alright Yellow Two, scare them, try not to kill them." He gave the order and in the field two old Z-95 Headhunter appeared making their way to Yalen's ship.

This assignment was new. Shysa wasn't sure, if her eyes; that Commander Rex was making the best decision by sending her here. She had only joined the Rebellion a few months ago. And instead of pilot training I'm stuck in a desert. Shysa thought, feeling sick. I think the heat's already getting to me.

She turned as the Colonel approached and greeted them, giving him a firm nod. Shysa knew better then to salute officers in the open. That was something she had learned from her family. "It's nice to meet you sir. I'm Private Shysa Eros."

    IC: Kanna Rohas
    Asteroid Belt, Near Rassil Station

Lieutenant Kanna Rohas of the Alliance to Restore the Republic was annoyed, and in pain. These were not uncommon states for her. Five years of hard labor had left it's marks on her bones ached, joins shot pain through her when she bent them. She'd gotten used to the pain, it wasn't so bad now. The annoyance was an improvement over her blinding rage she had when started this journey. One can only stay so angry for so long. It wasn't gone, it was still there simmering in the background like a cooking pot set to a rolling boil on a back burner. She was in his system, that monster's system. Moff Tanis Caul, naval officer, planetary and sector governor, a murderer, and soulless beast that would slaughter you as soon as look at you.

He was the reason she was here. He was why she was in the rebellion, why she was missing an eye, and why she was an orphan. The metal and cybernetic eye itched, the scar that ran across the bridge of her nose burned. She was so close, so near to her vengeance she could taste it, could feel her hands around his skinny neck as she choked the life out of him. She had often thought and dreamed about this, about what she would do once she got her hands on him. She's had five years, five years to think about all the horrible and terrible ways she could end his miserable life. All of them entirely too good for him, and completely against the rules of engagement and treatment of prisoners of war a violation of his Sentient Rights. He didn't deserve them, he was a mad dog and she would enjoy putting him down.

She banked hard around another chunk of rock that had drifted into her path, momentarily snapping out of her little fantasy. Curse this asteroid field, curse this stitched together X-Wing, mismatched panels of black and grey showed it's kitbash nature.

"R3, the sensors are on the fritz again see if you can't fix them." The little droid behind her tweeted a reply which was translated on the screen near the center of the panel. "I know you're working on the upper port side engine but, if my sensors go out I won't see the imps coming."

"Get used to this field." Econ Waver, her current wing commander started, "We spend a lot of time here. Imperial shipments here cannot be shielded by their capital ships so they are vulnerable."

A slight smirk pulled at the pilot's lip. Good.

"I'm a fast learner, especially when motivated." There was a dark edge to her voice, that maybe, just maybe she was in this fight for more than freeing the galaxy from the Empire.

"So we are here to escort a Rebel Operative out of the field." The commander explained, "Actually I expect him to have got himself into trouble. He almost always does."

    "Sounds like handful."

"So I thought picking him up would be worth the detour. Something we don't necessary need to mention to the General, if you know what I mean."

A deep chuckle left her what command doesn't know. She's used that more than once.

"I know what you mean sir, you were just taking me sightseeing." She cracked a genuine smile, following him under a quick moving obstacle. "You really know how to show a girl a good time." She jabbed keeping close to her wingmate.

"Yaren, what the hell are you flying there?" Waver called out to someone Kanna couldn't see. Looking at her sensors she couldn't see anything...until it flickered showing some old ship of some kind.

A little later, well after Yaren mentioned them, two Z-95s appeared on her sensors. R3 was still worrying about the engine.

"Affirmative. Empire?" Waver asked gunning the throttle, Kanna did the same keeping pace.

"No, security." The other voice answered, there was an audible huff from the ex-con, she came here to kill imps, to blind eyeballs, not dance with Headhunters.

"Alright Yellow Two, scare them, try not to kill them." Her eyes nearly roll into the back of her head.

"Understood." She replied trying not to grit her teeth. Once she had closed the distance she let off a few shots, one from each wingtip, just in front of the lead Z-95. The standard 'shot across the bow', universal naval signal for listen up.

    IC: Alistair Ryne
    Dashona

Alistair admired the urgency that was shown in the decision not to take the small band of Rebels to the secret base on Dashona, but to ferry them directly to the beginning of their next mission. In times such as these, it didn't behoove them to stop and catch a breath. He didn't need one, and they didn't either. If rest and reprieve was what one desired, then the Rebellion against the Empire certainly wasn't for them. If there is no rest for the wicked, then there should be no rest for the righteous, either.

He looked briefly at the assembled squad. He stood with Lerona Vialco, whose auburn hair reminded him of a girl he once thought he was in love with years ago back home, Shysa Eros, who looked far too young to be entangled in such business but carried herself like a soldier twice her age, and a Duros intelligence operative named Moro Pest with whom he wasn't too familiar but hoped his surname wasn't indicative of his character. Judging by appearances, Alistair was the muscle of the group. But of course he knew that appearances certainly never told the full story.

Alistair watched the sun rising over the horizon on the desert planet, the smoke in the far distance. He thought that maybe he could still smell the ashes on the air, but perhaps that was simply a recollection of events long past still lingering in his mind, ever present. He'd always thought the desert was beautiful. Something about the sand, the harshness of it, the color stretching on seemingly into eternity without interruption, all other elements helpless against it. It was merciless, and he appreciated it. Not that he ever wanted to be stranded in it, but all beautiful things should inspire a little fear.

Alistair took notice of a speeder approaching, their contact no doubt. It arrived quickly (again, the urgency), and a rugged man disembarked, outfitted as if he'd either just finished or was preparing for combat.

"Colonel Tesp, you must be the reinforcement," he spoke as he eyed the group. Alistair stood attentively with his hands clasped behind his back, not as rigid as a soldier standing at attention, but not relaxed as someone who didn't give a damn, either. "We can certainly need a few extra guns down here. The situation is... complicated. Give me a quick who is who and let's get to work."

Alistair didn't speak at first because he wasn't sure if they were supposed to introduce themselves to the man (who hadn't introduced himself), or if Colonel Tesp would do it for them. But young Shysa had no such hesitation. "It's nice to meet you sir. I'm Private Shysa Eros."

"Alistair Ryne, sir," Alistair spoke with a nod similar to the one Shysa had given him. Short, professional. He was ready to begin.

Verona was very surprised at being unceremoniously hauled into a mission right off; it spoke to the urgency of the situation. She surveyed the desert surroundings. She was more to the lake/ocean type vistas herself. All that featureless waste you could get lost in literally was the opposite of what usually got under her skin: tight spaces, but still ...

After Mr. Ryne's introduction to the recently arrived official type, she spoke up. "Lerona Vialco, I will ehlp with any tech or slicing needs your troops'll be needing. I'm sure first priority is making sure communications stay active?"

They had not lost any time to put them to good use. That much was for certain. Right after making it through the Asteroid field they had been deployed to their first mission. The Rebellion was indeed short on hands. That much was obvious.

They were just done covering up the Rider when the Colonel made his appearance.

"Kiki, you take good care of the ship. If things get too hot make a run and pick us up later, hear me?" He ordered his faithful droid.

"I'll run like an sullustan chicken, Cap." The droid replied. Tab nodded and turned to the others.

A ragtag band of Rebels indeed. The slicer, a teen, a Duros and a handsome guy. Oh yes and an old smuggler who had given up on arguing with himself what he had gotten himself into.

"Tab Voren. I am the guy getting you in and out." He introduced himself to the Colonel. "Oh and meanwhile I might make myself useful. Guess the peace here is not about to last?" Of course it wasn't. Someone blew up the damned capital of the planet. A dusthole like any other as far as he could tell.

This thing smelled like a rescue. Rescue what they could before the Empire showed their lack of appreciation for the fireworks.

"So what is the gameplan, Boss?"

Business was good, certainly. But her Dad was not getting any younger and Alesya would have hoped he let her help a little more. Accurately she packed the rooms and gave the large bag to her Dad.

"I like the little bugger and you know they are not exactly rich." She never told her Dad, but Alesya usually took whatever people gave her. She had no price list. It felt wrong when she enjoyed doing it. She loved little Morwen. He had been growing up next door. Chev Solen and his family were practical family. "Guess I should probably get over there." She smiled as her Dad began to carry their rooms towards their home.

"I just hope Chev does not get himself into trouble." She sighed and walked next to her Dad. She was not actually knowing that much about galactic politics. There was an Empire and there was a Rebellion. She had heard of Alderaan though and this terrible thing they called a "Death Star". What she had heard did not convince her something like Teliad would go down easy with the Empire. The Rebels had blown up a city and ended the monarchy ruling the planet for centuries. There would be a reaction. Chev clearly had sympathies for the freedom movement. She just hoped her would not be so loud about it.

They finally made it to the crossroads and she gave her Dad a quick kiss and took the left to the Solen farm. "Take care, Dad. The stew is still in the oven. You can warm it up!"

She hoped he did. He usually forgot to eat if she was not around to remind him.

    Aren Voren
    Imperial Transport

Major Zern had always been a man with a reputation within the Empire. When Captains and Generals were put under his command it was a clear message. The Moff meant business. This was not a display of power. Retribution was on the menu.

As the plan was explained to them, by the Major personally, he understood what scope the retribution would have. The families. The Empire was angry and you did not anger the Empire. Not if you planned to make it out alive.

    But the families ...

"One question, Sir. What age of relatives are we targeting?" They could hardly plan to kill infants in their beds. It sounded as if this had been exactly what he just ordered to do though.

No resistance was to be expected? If so the had an army to smash it. The Empire was not planning to go to war. They were planning a massacre. A fact that seemed to bother nobody in the room. Why should it? Orders were orders, right? The truth was, not for Voren. He was aware he should not question his mission. It was the mission. Given to them by the Moff, the representive of the wise Emperor's will in this Cluster. His commands were to be obeyed. They would be obeyed.

Voren just wished it would have been different orders. He was ready to fight and die for the New Order. He was tired of murdering for it, though. It was not a warriors way.

"Pest, infantry." The Duros announced with a gnarly voice. The yet unnamed Rebel nodded.

"Tesc. Pleased to meet you guys. So here is the name of the game. Evacuation of key allies. Teliad got their own Rebels. Lead by a guy called The Stranger. We need to track him down. Also a guy named Chev Solen and a woman called Tara Brest need to be secured. Both have helped us smuggle goods in and out of the planet." He sighed.

"Eros, Vialco you are with me. We go to the city and meet my contact there. Arrange a meeting with the Stranger." A gesture towards the speeder told them to go in. "Pest you do back up. Stay at the city limits and secure our exit." He nodded to the two remaining crew members. "Loren, Ryne. You do Solen and Brest. Should be at a farm nearby the city limits. Send you the coordinates. Get both and report on your way here."

The coordinates were half an hour away from their landing spots. Tesc returned to his speeder and waited for Eros and Vialco to get in. When they were seated he took off. "The Stranger is a shy one. We communicated with him, but never saw him. Our contact hopefully convinced him these are special circumstances."

The Duros began his long march behind them.

Ryne and Loren were left to get to this farm themselves.

And just as everybody was on his way above flashes of light indicated the arrival of several ships from hyperspace. Among them the very recognizable triangular structure of an Imperial Star Destroyer.

"There is none. We target all relatives of all ages. The families shall be completely wiped out." Zern replied with a cool voice.

He looked around and when there were no more questions e proceeded to assign targets. He mentioned Voren last. "X 11-6 and X 11-9 you take care of Chev Solen, who resides on a fame nearby with his wife and son. All three are targets."

X 11-9 nodded in agreement. Desolon Tass had been Voren's partner before and was the only one who had a similiar long record of service than him. They had send their two most dangerous men after Solen. Obviously he was important.

The orders were received and they felt the trembling of the ship as they left hyperspace.

"To your dropships soliders. For the Emperor." Zern said and nodded.

"FOR THE EMPEROR." The platoon responded and made their way out, just in time to see the first two troop transports and an AT-AT carrier getting deployed. Their dropship was waiting for the unit.

The Headhunter understood her message and broke of his attack. The second one was a little more aggressive though. Waver hit his shields with a clear shot and yet the man began to pursue his target. His blaster canons began to spit red fire, but did not hit Yalen's ship yet.

"Okay, we got ourselves a hero. If he fires another shot we gotta take him down." Waver sighed over comm. "I hunt him, you take him." Waver was not very military in his commands, but obviously very used to combat. Z-95 were ancient and outdated compared to their fighters. The pilot had not a realistic chance against the two Rebel fighters.

Yet, overconfident, foolish or both ... he opened fire again this time hitting an asteroid uncomfortably close to the Rebel agents ship.

"Okay, that's it." Waver unceremonially confirmed the attack order and his X-Wing took it's position behind the attacker, driving him towards Kanna as both ships dodged asteroids.

The one Z-95 broke off understanding that it was outmatched even against a half and half X-Wing with a sputtering engine and fuzzy sensors. Waver send a red hello, that glanced off the other's shields. Yet it seemed undeterred. Where they trying to prove a point? Did they think they had a shot now that they were all alone against two X-Wings? It spat out red lasers more in the general direction of the ship it seemed to be chasing. This pilot couldn't even shoot straight, it almost felt, wrong.

"Okay, we got ourselves a hero. If he fires another shot we gotta take him down." Kanna let out a long breath. "I hunt him, you take him."

"Understood," She replied, her cybernetic eye marked the old fighter making sure she didn't lose track of them. "Only two types of heroes. The Brave and the Stupid, this one is clearly the ladder." She grumbled, this felt like picking on the little guy. Finding the littlest guy in the yard and beating him into the ground. While it felt a little wrong, the pilot was being an idiot. Probably best to just end him. Another burst of laser fire that got just a little close for comfort.

"Okay, that's it." The flight lead nearly sighed.

"Breaking off." Kanna snapped her X-Wing into a rising corkscrew. At the top of her arc her implant told her the relative location of the Z-95 making it child's play for her to sweep from above and destroy the craft. It was also just a little safer than going heads up. She weaved her way through the asteroids lining up her shots. Once she had a good lead on the much older fighter she pulled the trigger. Sending lances of red energy through the blackness of space toward the idiot behind the flight stick.

"Trust is a big word. Never met the Stranger. A week ago I would have said I trust him, but now? Blowing up a few million innocents to kill a royal dynasty ... sounds more like an imperial mindset to me. If it was him, I don't trust him. So we should probably find out." He looked above and sighed. "Of we have the time for that." He pointed out and nodded to the arriving imperial fleet. Small points began to part from the four capital ships in space.

They entered the city without anybody caring. No imperial patrols or presence whatsoever was seen. But people were nervous now, hurrying home to their loved ones ... the city knew what was coming.

Tesc stopped in front of a cantina called "The Starglow Tevern" and sighed. "If anything happens to me, our contact is called Loras, a Devaronian. He is said to come here." "Of they find out two X-Wings did this Yelen might be identified as one of our agents. Guess we can't allow that." Her Wing Commander was obviously unhappy with this, but turned his X-Wing around and began to pursue the remaining helplessly out-classed fighter.
