Well didn't he suggest to her that that was how he looked when they first met? It's like that's how he wanted her to remember him.

Wow, I was sobbing by the end. Such a beautifully done scene, and really hit emotionally. That moment where he can see Hera and Ezra... I’m not crying....

Now that we have an idea of how IT-O Interrogator Droids get their results, I wonder if Leia was also injected with truth serum. I like think that if she was, she acted like Carrie Fisher in real life interviews (or her autobiographies) as her way of resisting.

Did you not understand the symbolism in him cutting his hair before going off to battle? Or to make him more reminiscent of himself as Caleb Dume?

The Sentinel in that scene was a Force Projection created by Yoda. So Kanan was knighted by the leader of the Jedi Council.

THIS. This episode was... amazing. This is how you do a character sacrifice. Rian Johnson should have taken notes from these guys. Is it sad that this 'kid's show' is gave one of it's not even four year old characters a better, more meaningful, more impactful, heart-wrenching sacrifice than TLJ did for a pop culture icon that's over 40 year old.

But they couldn't take the headgear off of Hera. Change her out of her usual clothes into prisoner gear....but leave on her headpiece.

i confess, I've been actively grieving since last night. I went to bed in tears, hardly slept at all, and have been going through the motions all day, punctuated by brief spells of tears, and a couple of re-watches of both episodes.

I KNOW it's a CARTOON - aimed at children who weren't even born when the PREQUALS were released. I KNOW Kanan, Hera et all aren't even real people. I KNOW all of this...

    I DO NOT CARE.

For nearly 4 years, this silly little Space Family has been a part of my escapist life... 'Losing' Space Dad has broken my heart.

    *sigh*

I had a feeling this was coming but I wasn't prepared to cry this much. It took me a few seconds after he died to actually process what just happened. No other star wars death has impacted me so much. Not Han, not Luke, not anyone. I'm just really attached to the Ghost Crew.

@ImNotAStarWarsFanboy : Yes, and I was not surprised at the character sacrifice at all; maybe pleasantly surprised at how well it was done.

But Hera is right. I thought we’d have more time.

The whole episode was like a big tribute with Kanan passing the torch.

I felt so bad for Hera, they really nailed the relationship between them, hopefully they develop more of her and we get to know the impact of him on her life.

I also didn’t read the book A new Dawn, but this made me want to read it to learn more about them, it was a great great episode.

Caleb Dume, the Force will be with you...

Yup, I teared up too. Not ashamed to say it.

I read AND a while back, but don't remember if it dealt so much with Hera and Kanan's relationship. That was really the only reason I was interested in reading the book to begin with.

I read it last summer. It's a great book (one of the best in the new canon if you ask me), and it really made me feel for Kanan and Hera a lot more than I already did (and I became a fan immediately with Spark of Rebellion).
Reading the book made this episode even more heart breaking, that's for sure.

I didn't know a cartoon character's death could make me tear up, but this did. Kudos to Filoni and crew. That was an amazing episode.
