black mirror is really good by the way. its a dystopian horror anthology series for the twitter age. there have only been six episodes across two seasons (british shows do that, ya know, but apparently there's more coming) and they're all good. the first two of each season are spectacular, and even the relative misfires that have served as "finales" have been quite good

 

You know, to each their own. If it helps somebody get through the trauma of a miscarriage or any other type of loss of a child, then so be it.

 

Agreed. I'm always reading news stories about disturbed women abducting newborns from the hospital. It seems to me we could help these women immensely by buying a lot of reborn dolls and then setting up a decoy neonatal ward in the hospital where frustrated nonmoms could go and kidnap their very own fake baby to call their own.

one of (if not THE) best ones takes place in a world where people run on treadmills all day to provide power for the society and watch "idol"-style singing contest shows and they're not allowed to NOT watch them and people who are too out of shape to provide enough treadmill energy are relegated to a janitor underclass

 

on the one hand this is actually sort of fascinating in its implications about human psychology or whatever... but on the other that video at the top of the post really is horrifying in a genuinely visceral way, like, i legit cannot watch more than a few seconds at a time.

Yeah.... I can see how there would be a market for these things. I imagine people who've lost babies to illness, miscarriage, etc, would buy one. The videos are a bit much, but whatever gets you through the night...
