Not a bad day - made it to 4350. I'm trying to get some padding in so I can take a day off next week.

I got on a tear with an infodump earlier - made it to 7887..

 

I'm in for another year. (c.c. Russell on nano site) Cheating by working on a short story collection and a few non-fiction ideas that I am kicking around rather than a novel, so I'm a dirty nano cheat again.

Have you done NaNo before? Yes. Several times.
What genre are you writing? Literary? I suppose. Probably several genres to be honest.
Are you a planner or a pantster? Typically a pantster though occasionally a bit of both.
Sustenance of choice (food/drink)? Iced coffee, black. My all-day go-to.

Hit 7700 words this morning (trying to create a little bit of a cushion for the rougher days to come when my daughter is off of school for the holidays and my time disappears.

 

I've added you into the first post. I know about creating that cushion - I want to take a day off from it next week so I want to be well ahead. I went a bit nuts with an info dump today which helped.

 

I did 1358 words.

Man it is hard to do this on work week.

My story is very subnatural and crazyness at this point. But now the main character moving towards main mission, things will ride along.

 

I added 877 words to my total today.

 

8390 is my total as of tonight.

Question for you all: Do you feel it helps your quality of writing, or is it making you turn out... ummm... less than optimum standard (by your own measures) under pressure for the deadline?

As for Kurisan's question - the first draft of anything is usually crap, deadline or not. What the deadline does is make you actually do the writing instead of procrastinating. It gets your butt in the seat.
