Discussion of New Episodes - Rules
    (1) One of the mods will post each week's episode thread a few days before it airs on Disney Channel.

    (5) Do not post any preview video clips from the individual episode in the episode threads.

    (6) Official episode commentary may be posted in this episode thread.

    (7) Do not discuss future episodes in here.

    (8) Reviews for each episode may be posted once they have aired. One of the mods will add a grading poll to that episode's discussion thread.

Well that was a half hour I'll never get back again. Look up "filler" in the dictionary - you'll find this episode right next to it.

I thought it was a lot more fun filler than the fuel run episodes. Can't not love John DiMaggio.

I did like the race sequences even though the for the hype of the races they seemed like the shortest events possible. Yet another we need XYZ episode though. I can't wait for next week when the plumbing on the Colossus breaks and they have to track down a plumper or some type of pipe.

They really should have waited until after TROS came out to release this season and write it better with less fillers.

Definitely filler, but I thought it was more fun than any of the other filler episodes this season. And in the end it does actually move them forward.

It was filler, but I enjoyed it. The backgrounds were nice, the race was entertaining and I liked how they incorporated Neeku into this episode. He was basically a member of the Aces in this one.

I thought Kaz's silent nod of trust in Neeku when Freya was questioning Neeku's theory was a nice touch.

An absolute FILLER with a capital "F". And I'm going to diverge from others who've acknowledged it was a filler but liked it. I'm going to say it was a filler and I didn't like it. It was just boring IMO.

Don't look now, the Aces are bored!!! Uh oh!!! Better go to some offbeat casino that's not Canto Bight and have some more redundant racing scenes; this time in some asteroids. Awwe, don't leave so soon, though....how about I throw in some Hutt you've never heard of before? You know how you love the Hutts, don't you?

Ugh, you're absolutely right. It was one of those episodes you could've missed and not missed anything.
Did anyone remotely think Kaz was going to lose that race, thereby losing the place they live in? No, there was no way they'd lose that race.

OK, but what exactly is the problem with “filler”? It was fun. It’s a kid’s show. And there are over 20 episodes. Not everything has to be part of an epic story.

That said, I wasn’t a fan of the stereotypical Italian-American gangster stereotype represented by the Hutt. I wish Star Wars creators would go back to more alien languages with their aliens. And as in ROTJ, they could have gotten some fun humor out of the translation dynamics.

I didn't have fun with it. This one felt like someone wanted to do a one-off racing episode since that seemed to be one of the original inspirations for the show.

I don't even care about telling an "epic" story - I'm personally fine with leaving the galactic Resistance/First Order scuffle to the wayside and the show being the "DS9" of Star Wars. This one didn't develop the characters or reveal anything new about them so it really comes down to whether the 20 minutes was fun on an immediate level. Obviously, it was for some. It wasn't my cup of tea.

That's the thing; I know it's a kid's show. But it still doesn't have to have so many ridiculous fillers that are made so the producers can justify charging the standard amount when the Blu-ray is released of the full season. As others have said, this was an episode that even if you did like it on first watch, you don't even have to consider watching it ever again and not miss anything. I know the previous series had fillers (though I'd have to nit-pick throughout all seasons of TCW to find even a single episode that falls into the "filler" category); but they were still overun with episodes that meant something. I thoroughly enjoyed the episode with Tera's mother from a few weeks ago and gave it probably the highest rating I've given any Resistence episode; then they spoiled it with this.

I think it cemented Kaz as the leader of the Aces, so it’s not total filler, IMO. I also don’t think it’s a problem that it could be skipped without consequence for the overall story. You could skip TPM too, but that doesn’t erase its value, IMO. I personally just don’t agree that every episode absolutely must advance the larger story. Little side-stories that build character are good too. Like “The Fly” in Breaking Bad. Narratively unnecessary, but an interesting little dive into the mind of a main character. This one was Kaz’s moment to establish himself as the leader of the crew. Good enough justification for me.

But we're talking about leader of the Aces; who are racing pilots far more than they're fighter pilots. If it comes down to a large-scale space attack where Kaz and the others must defend the Colossus from the FO, then you might have a point. For now, I'm not buying the Leader of the Pack notion as relating to the Resistance story.

I don't care whether something is filler or not only if I enjoyed it and I enjoyed that. Not as good as last week but it was fun.

Yes it's a kid's show; but it's still SW and the title is RESISTANCE. Dave Filoni and co. could've easily done a show about Jar Jar running around doing some sort of mischief during the CW era and bring in 3PO and R2 for good measure. I already get constant reminders that the series is aimed at kids because I'm always catching the last few minutes of some weird kiddie cartoon series on Disney XD when I DVR the show; not to mention the ads for other cartoons on the channel.

It just feels like every time this show looks like moving forward (the last two episodes were interesting), it then just goes back to next to nothing happening.

It is hard to believe this is the final season of this show, it really feels like very little has happened since the start. If it didn't have Star Wars in its title, I would have given up in season 1.

2/10 This season has been bad so far and this episode is by far the worst. A ridiculous plot that only got more ridiculous until it reached peak ridiculous when Doza literally puts his daughters life on the line. Ugh. The only thing I liked in this episode is the casino. It looked really cool.

I have seen it only until episode 3 so far and was really positively surprised by the first two episodes.
Will it really stay irrelevant like the whole episode 3 to finally earn a 2/10 or is just every second episode being boring.
