Total sales of Harry Potter books as of June 2011: 450 million copies worldwide, making it the best selling book series in history.
Total sales of Justice League #1, combined with all the other New 52 sales at the same time in 2011: 1.5 million, if all the books were sold. And bearing in mind that's the debut issue.

 

What? you compare the total sales of HP from the beginning to 2011 to one issue that was released in 2011? If you want to compare, we have to compare all the Justice League featured books from JSA to modern time.

And the Avengers were even less famous and popular than JL, they still beat any HP movie on box office.

 

What breath-takingly stupid logic.

So basically, you just ignore any cyclical trends or the evolution of the comic book medium to make a ham-fisted point.

 

I'm only pointing out there seem to me to be a lot more Harry Potter readers than there are Justice League readers at the present day. And it's the present day that counts, not the past forty years. It's rather a significant detail in pondering the mystery of why Warner Bros made a series of Harry Potter movies and not a series of Justice League movies.

And as I said to you already: The Avengers only happened after 10 years of reasonable success in Marvel superhero films. Yes, 10, darling. You can point out that Marvel Studios first made The Incredible Hulk in 2008. But before then Marvel had been piggybacking off the successes of X-Men, Spiderman, and Blade to a lesser extent. Marvel let the major film studios do the trailblazing for them before they dipped their toes in the water. Warner Bros doesn't have that history behind them. Nolan is unlikely to make another superhero film at WB because Robinov brought him in, and Robinov is gone.
