Retcons - good, bad, ugly...

    I hate the new Super-class retcon. I preferred the old one where Super-class and Executor-class were two very similar but distinct classes.

    No, they weren't. The "two classes" approach was and always has been a fan retcon.

    But there was an Executor at 8 km (1987) and a Super-class at ~12 km (12.0 - 12.8) (~1996?), so there were clearly two classes een if not outright stated.

    No, there was only one class, just with updated lengths and designations over the years. Executor was once an 8 km "Super-class Star Destroyer," same as all the rest; now they're all 19 km Executor-class Star Dreadnaughts. Fans speculated after the Executor was bumped up in length that there were two separate classes, but that's been proven to not be the case.
