    Anchorhead, Tatooine

Rhea watched as Jaina casually walked into the cantina and smiled at her comment. It was true, cantinas always came to mind as somewhere to meet dodgy people. If she was giving information to people she'd want them to trust her. Each to their own, she figured.

She stood a little way from the front of the cantina and tried to look casual in the Tatooine heat, nodding in a greeting at people who passed and nonchalantly glanced at her chrono a few times. The minutes passed quickly and she strolled up to the pub. She spotted Jaina out of the corner of her eye and slowly made her way towards the bar. Rhea slid onto one of the stools and asked, "Have you seen anything?"

OOC: Sorry I took long, guys. I meant to reply way earlier. A lot has been going on... I'm back though!

    IC: Quorra Flanigan

    Landing dock 492, Naboo

Danni, who in Quorra's eyes was very intelligent yet strong, replied, "That's actually a great idea... the place will probably be packed and it will give Zekk a chance to snoop around a bit." Danni added, a plan forming in her head. "After Quorra starts, you and I can sneak out and meet Ms. Pelletier."

Quorra nodded at this with a grin. "Sounds like a plan." Then she chuckled at the sight of Danni and Jacen teasing each other. The two seemed very close and she admired them for that. Hopefully, in the future, Quorra would be close to Zekk like them. Speaking of Zekk, she heard his soft yet firm voice speak in her direction.

"And I'll keep an eye out for anyone who even tries to do something underhanded against you while you're up there on stage."

This made the young Shamed One in disguise blush with a timid smile. "Thanks, Zekk. I've always wanted a Jedi bodyguard." She gave him a playful wink. Then she gave a confused look at Danni and Jacen's direction. But she remained smiling.

"Well that settles that for now, then. Let's find somewhere to stay for the next few days, then. I don't know about you three, but I want to be able to lounge by a pool for a while," Jacen said.

"Throw in a couple drinks, and I'm in!" she heard Danni add.

Quorra rubbed her hands with excitement. "Ooh! That sounds exciting." She would hang out with other singers at pool parties, which were fun. But hanging out with Jedi Knights and a scientist? This day just got better and better! With that in mind, Quorra walked back to her room to gather her things and secure the Burning Light.

"Any ally of the Solos is welcome. I would just about guess Han and Leia Solo have crossed paths with a large percentage of independent individuals/groups striving for justice."
The teenage blonde spoke with such confidence that it made CeCe grin, impressing the older woman. It would be nice to have new recruits like these kids for the Mantis Syndicate. After all, CeCe needed more people who were strong, intelligent, and trustworthy. But then again, these Jedi had their own plans for the future, so CeCe decided against it to ask them.

The leader of the Mantis Syndicate chuckled at Tahiri's response. "Why thank you, young one. I'm always happy to help the friends, and children, of Leia and Han Solo," she replied, whispering the mention about 'children'. The black-haired woman stretched and placed her hands behind her head, resting her back on the wall. "So... I hear that you need information about something, thanks to your friend Quorra. Lowell hear is good at figuring out things. He goes around as a mere merchant. But in reality, he has ears of a hawk-bat."

"Oh my lady... you flatter me," the old Tynnan said with a soft smile. Anakin smiled at the both of them. Then he presented the a small box containing the remains of the villip beetle that Uncle Luke destroyed. "We were wondering if you could tell us anything about this. Please." After the male Jedi slid the box over to Lowell, the elderly alien quietly took the box and opened it. Touching it with gentleness and focus, Lowell closed his eyes. Although he was nearly blind, if Anakin and Tahiri could pick it up, Lowell was actually Force-sensitive.

CeCe grinned, wondering if the kids knew this seeing that they too were Jedi. However, unknown to her and the others, Jaina and Rhea were back-up to the teenagers, which none of them seemed to notice them come in. It was always good to have back-up though, just in case.

Zekk observed the teasing between Danni & Jacen. He was used to the Solo kind of humor, which unfailingly sprang up amongst friends.
He briefly thought of Tenel Ka whose reticent nature even was softened under the continuous onslaught of Jacen's playfulness.
He would have to ask Jacen eventually if there was something developing with Danni ...

Zekk smiled at Quorra's pleasure about relaxing by the pool.

He took out a datapadd and started looking for a lodging place: something not over-priced and not in a disreputable part of town, hopefully.

Tahiri watched with interest as Lowell examined the villip beetle. She felt tendrils of awareness from the gentle alien. Her eyes widened in surprise: he was latently Force-sensitive...

    Fascinating...

She glanced around, feeling a tingle of familiarity touch her briefly and noticed Jaina and the pilot, rhea, enter unobtrusively. She smirked silently but did not alert anyone else to their arrival, although no doubt Anakin had picked up his sister's proximity.

    "Have you seen anything?"
Rhea asked sidling next to Jaina at the bar.

Jaina motioned fractionally with her head towards the back corner of the pub as the barkeep handed Rhea a pint of what Jaina was drinking. "Anakin and Tahiri have been introduced to the scary-looking lady over there."

Rhea glanced furtively in that direction and indicated she'd seen the table. Jaina continued, "Whomever it is has their own muscle, so it must be someone wealthy." Again Rhea nodded, she'd noticed the two heavies who were trying to look casual. "She has the air of someone like Karrde, so I guess Anakin and Tahiri will see what she knows." As if on cue, Anakin seemed to relax a bit and slid a box across the table.

Rhea blew out a slow breath in relief and took a swig from her glass.

Jaina smiled at Rhea's look of mild disgust. "Sorry." She commented, trying not to laugh, "I should have mentioned how sweet Hapan drinks can be." Taking a swig of her own, she put the glass down. "But the alcohol content is pretty low, so we won't lose our edge." She took another swig, "Besides my....intended...got me hooked on these."

Rhea gave her a strange look, and Jaina shrugged. "Long story." She gave Rhea a sidelong look, "I'll trade my story for one of yours."

Jacen watched over Zekk's shoulder as he thumbed through his datapad looking for a place to stay. Zekk stopped at one entry, and Jacen thumped him on the shoulder. "We can't stay there...I think we'd get an STD just by sitting on the sheets."

Zekk gave him a look and continued scrolling. "Besides...." Jacen continued, "...three of us have been fighting for the last four years and have hardly spent any of the money we've earned. We're allowed to splurge."

Zekk nodded, seeing his friend's point. Besides, after sleeping on military cots for the most of the last four years, a fluffy bed would be a nice change. He stopped at a nicer hotel in Theed's Centre City district, and shot Jacen another look.

"Perfect!" Jacen replied. "You book the room, I'll grab your stuff."

    Later...

Jacen sat at the edge of the hotel's pool, dangling his feet in the water while sipping a Hapan cocktail. Absently, he kept turning over the card Marné Pelletier had given him.

"Credit for your thoughts?" Danni commented, sitting next to him.

Jacen shook his head, "I'm trying to figure out Pelletier's angle. There's obviously more to this Peace Brigade thing...but why no let local security handle it?"

Danni scowled slightly and have half a shrug, "Maybe the Nubians don't believe Peace Brigade can no longer be a threat?" She took a sip of Jacen's drink and made a face. "Ugh, what IS this?"

Jacen laughed as he took his drink from Danni, "It's Hapan. It's called a 'Tai of Command'." He bonked Danni's shoulder, "Tenel Ka got me hooked on one of our visits to Chume'dan. Anyway..." he continued, taking another sip, "I got the feeling that Marné doesn't really want to go along with official policy."

He watched as Quorra and Zekk were making their way into the pool area and didn't see Danni's look.

Rhea nodded along to Jaina's comments while she casually studied the trio at the table, keeping tabs on the guards through the Force. Again, trying to play casual, she took a quick sip of the drink Jaina had provided her. Rhea crinkled her nose as a wave of sweetness hit her tongue and looked pointedly towards Jaina.

She smiled at her reply, not quite sure how anyone could like this much sugar, but raised an eyebrow at her last comment.

"Long story. I'll trade my story for one of yours." she said.

Rhea glanced over to Anakin and Tahiri and decided they had time. "Alright. I've got a pretty good tale from when I first flew. It was when I was about 6 years old. I was with a group of Younglings meditating near the hangar bay. I wasn't the greatest meditator when I was younger, so I was just sitting around waiting for the session to be over. My love of the sky started from a young age, and little me knew that the hangar bay was nearby, so decided to sneak away."

She grinned at Jaina and continued, "Yeah I know, bit rebellious. Anyway, I somehow got away without alerting the Knight, although they might have noticed and not wanted to interrupt the class, I don't know, and I spotted a fighter right around the corner. I'm not sure of the make, I didn't know anything about ships back then other than that I wanted to fly them. So I climbed into the cockpit and fiddled with foreign controls, pulling levers pressing buttons, not intending to actually take off, just look. But of course, by pressing certain buttons, the ship powered up. Youngling-me freaked out and accidentally knocked a lever which fired the jets and caused the ship to hover. Luckily the Knight supervising us had followed me and quickly rushed over and powered the ship down. I was escorted back to my dorm and got extra chores and meals in my room for a month. Though that hasn't stopped me from my dream."

Rhea grinned again, "It's your turn now,"

This was sure the life. Relaxing after a chaotic war between the galaxy and maniacal warlords was truly refreshing. And to top it off, Quorra was finally hanging out with the young Jedi Knights! After she made her way towards the pool, the young woman sat on the edge of the pool. Wearing a navy blue bikini, Quorra smiled while placing her feet in the cool water. The breeze around them was just right. It was neither hot or cold. Just right...

Quorra glanced over at Zekk and blushed. "I can't believe that I'm hanging out with the Jedi. You guys are so amazing. Oh! That's right. We've got to keep the 'J' word on the down low." The brunette giggled. The musician glanced over at Jacen and Danni, who looked like they were having a good time together. She grinned, wondering if there was something going on between those two.

Anakin grinned quietly to himself, feeling Rhea and his sister close by. Very close. That Jaina was always on the move when it came to her brothers. And he appreciated her for that. Suddenly, he felt something from Lowell. The feeling was like a calm stream, which matched the old alien's soft appearance. Lowell was Force-sensitive!

So many questions he had for the elderly being. But not at the moment. They had to complete their task on finding out about the creator of the villip beetle.

After Lowell caressed the pieces of the content inside the small box, he opened his eyes slowly and nodded. Placing the box down and closing it, the old Tynnan said, "Yes... I see now. I used psychometry to see who created this vile material. Turns out it was a Yuuzhan Vong who created this villip beetle. He is a master shaper that goes by the name Ziyu Bakao. There was also a male Human, dressed in long brown trench coat with brown hair and brown eyes. I've seen the surroundings as well."

Lowell rubbed his white goatee while looking down with focus. What planet was this? "It was green, lush, and the planet looked like a good place to hide." He sighed. "I must further understand this. But at the moment, look for a man by the name of Derek Patruno. I believe he knows the whereabouts of our Yuuzhan Vong shaper. He's also located not far from here, in his junk shop."

CeCe nodded. "Thanks, Lowell. I owe you one." Then she chuckled at Anakin and Tahiri. "Ah! Where are my manners? Would you kids like something to drink? Anything you want, you name it." Mateo and Zak smiled at each other as they continued to guard CeCe and the guests.

Zekk laughed at Quorra's comment. "Yeah, this is definitely one of the perks of finishing a hectic mission. Naboo is undeniably one of the better spots to unwind. The Lake Country and the waterfalls are especially must-sees."

He noticed Quorra's look over at Danni and Jacen. "Hmm. Yeah, that's a complicated history there. Not sure myself what's stirring if anything." He smirked, thinking of Tenel Ka.

Derek Patruno … Tahiri filed that name away … a junk shop owner with connections to Vong shapers. Fascinating …

"I'd better stick with something non-alcoholic." Tahiri answered CeCe's offer of drinks. "Never know when you'll need all your wits, especially in a place where who knows what kind of numb-wits will show up." She rolled her eyes and thanked the Force that CeCe had strong types guarding her, and by extension, the rest of their group. Not that she and Anakin couldn't handle toughs but if they wanted to keep their true identities secret, they probably didn't want to go flashing lightsabers…?

My love of the sky started from a young age, and little me knew that the hangar bay was nearby, so decided to sneak away.

Jaina nodded at Rhea's story; she could definitely relate...she had wanted to fly for as long as she could remember. Not for the first time, she considered herself lucky that she never had to sneak on to one of the Academy's fighters, but only had to ask her father if she could go for a ride. Thinking on it, she could only remember one or two times when he'd declined; obviously he liked flying just as much or more than she did.

I was escorted back to my dorm and got extra chores and meals in my room for a month. Rhea grinned and cast a glance at her friend, It's your turn now.

    "
A month?" Jaina asked incredulously as she paid casual attention to the Tynan across from Anakin opened a small box. "The instructors must have gotten a lot more strict after us...Jacen and I used to do way worse stuff than that and never had to eat in our rooms!" Jaina took a sip of her 'Tai of Command' drink as memories of reconstructing a TIE fighter in the Yavin jungle floated across her consciousness.

"Unfortunately, more story isn't nearly as fun as yours." She sighed, "After Myrkr, I managed to get us to Hapes. Unfortunately, Ta'Chume was there to meet us."

She saw Rhea's grimace and nodded. "Trust me, she's much worse in person. Anyway, the former Queen Mother had decided that I should marry Isolder and become the new regent of the Hapan Consortium." She sighed again. "He's not a bad guy. Got me hooked on these things on one of our 'dates'." She held up her glass. "Isolder is handsome, smart, pretty funny..for a Hapan."

Rhea snorted, and Jaina smiled a bit. "I could do much worse. But he's my friend's DAD. I'd known her for years...it just seemed weird. Plus, Jacen had just...died...and I was in no mood for any kind of 'courting'. All I wanted to do was find some Vong and kill them. Everyone last one of them." Her voice lowered, "Part of me wanted to, though. Part of me wanted to become Queen. Just think of how much damage I could have done to the Vong as Queen." Her voice became a whisper, almost as if she were talking to herself, "Is that wrong?"

Jaina shook her head and her voice returned to normal. "That's my story for trade. Instead of becoming a Queen, I became a Goddess. And left my friend alone on Hapes." Jaina took another swig to force down the deep sadness that was threatening to overwhelm her.

"Well, that's one way to keep Zekk's attention." Danni commented drolly as she watched the blue-bikini-clad Quorra sit next to Zekk at the other end of the pool.

Jacen shot her a look, "Says you. Don't think I've forgotten that silver bikini you were flaunting when we went snorkeling on Mon Cal."

"Scientists don't flaunt." The blonde replied, mock-offended. "But I had to try something to keep your attention...there was lots of sea life, as I recall." Her tone turned wistful, "You were such a gentleman, though...you were trying really hard not to stare!" She bonked him with her shoulder teasingly, "Just like you are now."

Jacen grinned the silly half-grin that always made her feel special, "I had to feign a lot of interest in sea turtles that day." He ran his thumb across her left thigh affectionately, "Don't tell Quorra..." Jacen added, giving the blonde a quick once-over, "....but you're still sexier. Even in khaki shorts and a white t-shirt." Danni blushed, and Jacen got to his feet, "Let's go say 'Hi' and give Zekk a distraction."

Not sure myself what's stirring if anything.

"Who's stirring what?" Jacen asked innocently as he sat next to Zekk, earning a surprised look from his friend. Nodding knowingly, he continued in a dry voice. "Never mind, I don't think I want to know."

"Quorra..." Danni asked as she sat next to Jacen, "...how long do your sets usually last? I'm hoping that Jacen and I can meet Ms. Pelletier and still be able to catch some of you stuff."

Quorra smiled warmly at Zekk's reply. Sitting next to him brought comfort to her because he gave off a welcoming aura. Even if she was not human on the inside, the young woman felt as if she'd known him for a long time. They did meet briefly at the knighting ceremony on Dac after she sang there. She hoped that one day, Zekk and her would live somewhere in peace and be there for one another. No matter what.

All of a sudden, Danni and Jacen came over. Hey, at least the four of them had an opportunity to chat together. "Quorra..." Danni asked as she sat next to Jacen, "...how long do your sets usually last? I'm hoping that Jacen and I can meet Ms. Pelletier and still be able to catch some of you stuff."

Quorra thought about this as she gently bit her lower lip. Then she replied, "Well... it all depends on the host running the place. I can go for as long as four hours." The brunette chuckled. "Besides, when it comes to guys like Mr. Dellacour, they want me to stay waaay longer due to my performance." She gazed over at Jacen and Danni. "What about you two? You sure you don't need me and Zekk to assist you guys with Ms. Pelletier?"

Anakin grinned at Taihri's reply. She was right. Who knew what scum and villainy would do if they saw two young people drinking and not focusing? "I second that. A water would be just fine." The eighteen-year-old could sense Jaina and Rhea keep a close eye on him and Taihri. In case anything happened, his sister and new ally would do their best to assist them. Especially Jaina, seeing that she was very protective of her family...

After the waitress gave the teenagers their drinks, CeCe was going to say something, but was interrupted by a slurred voice. "C-C-CeCe Barula! Found you at last..."

CeCe sighed. "Speaking of 'numb-wits'...." she said quietly.

It was male Human with brown hair and brown eyes. He looked to be in his mid-40s and had a smuggler gear on. He looked drunk and upset, which was not a good combination. "You had one of your bounty hunter scums arrest my brother! He was just trying to make an... honest living...!"

CeCe scoffed. "A man wanted for illegal smuggling of deathsticks and 2 homicides? Yeah. Some honest living." The man known as Nuro Bask glared hard at CeCe, as if wanting to hurt her.

"He had nothing else! And now he has to stay in prison for over 5 years! As for the... the homicides, he was defending himself!" The leader of the Mantis Syndicate sighed and stood up from her booth seat.

"Whatever the case, Bask, the damage is done. My bounty hunter did his job and got paid for it. As promised. Next time, you should tell your brother to get a real job. Matter of fact, get your life together first." Nuro growled. "Hey! I have friends in high places, even with the Hutts! So you better show a little respect, you ex-vigilante wench!". That was the last straw!

Turning to Nuro, CeCe grabbed him by his hair and slammed his head against the flat of the table. This made some of the patrons look their way.

"Now you listen to me, you sack of Bantha dung. There are three types of people I hate in this galaxy: treacherous scums, egotistical morons, and drunken idiots who think they can outsmart anyone. Now if you have any further problems on how I do business, feel free to chat with my men here." Mateo and Zak stood there with glares in their eyes, with Mateo cracking his knuckles and Zak growling lowly. "Or you can just walk away and go home. Which one's it gonna be, sunshine?" CeCe asked with a sadistic smile on her face.

Nuro gulped in terror, seeing the look of a ruthless woman who's been through a lot and did all sorts of things. Things that involved killing slavers and slave owners, as well as criminals. "I'll... I'll go home." CeCe picked the man back up on his feet and dusted his upper shirt. "Wise man. Now... GO." With that, the middle-aged man ran off in fear. CeCe then turned to a nervous Anakin and Tahiri, as well as a surprisingly calm Lowell. "My apologies for the inconvenience, folks. Why don't we leave and search for this Derek Patruno guy? My men and I can be very useful. What say you?" CeCe asked the young Jedi Knights with a grin.

    Anchorhead Cantina -- Tatooine

C-C-CeCe Barula! Found you at last..

Jaina's melancholy was interrupted by a drunken yell from across the cantina. Apparently Ms. Barula's muscle wasn't just for show...it would seem the other woman had made some enemies over the years. Jaina put her hand on Rhea's leg in warning. "Let's see how this plays out."

Rhea shot her a dirty look. One that said, Of course, you dolt....this isn't my first go 'round. Jaina grimaced and removed her hand. "Sorry, I tend to hang around folks who dive-in first, ask questions later." Han, Anakin, Zekk...all of them ran head-long in to situations not fully understanding what was going on. In truth, Jaina herself was guilty of the same; she remembered throwing her X-wing into a melee to rescue Jag. It was a wonder any of them were still alive.

Now you listen to me, you sack of Bantha dung...

The two women at the bar shared a smile and relaxed and watched as most of the patrons turned their attention elsewhere. Ms. Barula clearly had this situation under control. Jaina noticed that there were still a couple gentlemen in casual business attire who were still watching CeCe, but trying not to look like they were. More muscle?

Jaina nudged Rhea's foot, "What do you make of the two accountant-looking guys at our two-oclock?" She asked out of the side of her mouth.

Before Rhea could reply, both women caught Tahiri's quick glance and warning right before the entire table started to leave. Jaina sent a quick affirmation to the blonde and ordered another drink. She wanted to see if the accountants followed Barula, and she wanted to give Anakin and Tahiri a couple-minute head-start.

Rhea gazed downwards at her drink and tried not to draw attention by staring at the ruckus across the bar. She felt Jaina's hand touch her leg and heard Jaina mutter a warning. The light-haired woman rolled her eyes and shot Jaina a meaningful look - the concern was nice, but she'd been in situations like this before and knew what she had to do, not needing any help.

Jaina took her hand away just as angry tones drifted their way. They shared a glance of amusement while watching the scene unfold.

"What do you make of the two accountant-looking guys at our two-oclock?"

Rhea started to reply, but stopped as she felt Tahiri's warning gaze fall on her. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Jaina acknowledge the look and order another drink. She took a small sip of her own glass, being careful not to drink much of the sweetness and replied to Jaina.

"Something's up with them, though I don't know if they're with CeCe or someone else."

Hotel pool, Palais du Theed --

What about you two? You sure you don't need me and Zekk to assist you guys with Ms. Pelletier?

Yeah, the more I think of that it feels like a trap. Not that I wouldn't mind hearing Quorra sing again.

Jacen smiled at Quorra's concern and shook his head, "Nah, I think we'll be okay...back-office intimidation doesn't really seem to be the Nubian's style." He gestured at the baroque Theedian skyline visible from their roof-top pool, "They seem to be more of a 'we-strong-arm-you-out-in-the-open' sort of government. Besides...." he gave his friend a knowing look, "...Zekk can keep watch on us from the club."

"As long as he doesn't get too distracted." Danni muttered in a low voice only Jacen could hear.

Quorra, do you have any slow ballads in your repertoire? These two probably want to get in a close dance or two.

"Says you!" Danni replied, back-handing Zekk across the shoulder, "I think a four-hour set is going to get you all....discombobulated!"

Something's up with them, though I don't know if they're with CeCe or someone else.

Jaina nodded and watched as her brother left with Tahiri, CeCe and her muscle. "Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough." She took a sip of her second drink. "This your first time to Tatooine? What do you think of the place?" She asked, making small talk as they gave Anakin a head-start on...where ever they were going next.

Upon hearing this, Quorra smiled at Zekk's statement. To sing for the Jedi once more would be a wonderful feeling again. Just like she did on Dac for their Knighting. Singing in general always took the painful memories of the past away. She would never forget about the hardships she went through as a Shamed One and former slave of the Yuuzhan Vong. But thanks to her old friend Vias, the Yuuzhan Vong warrior, she escaped such horrors.

Deep down, she was still a Vong. She couldn't escape that. But Quorra wanted to find a way to be human, permantely. There had to be a way. Her adoptive parents and everyone she cared for changed the young singer for the better. But was she truly changed? That Vong side... that wild side of her... still lingered inside. She then heard the others speak, breaking her out of her short-lived trance.

"Quorra, do you have any slow ballads in your repertoire? These two probably want to get in a close dance or two," Zekk said with a grin.

"Says you!" Danni replied, back-handing Zekk across the shoulder, "I think a four-hour set is going to get you all....discombobulated!"

The young brunette chuckled heartily. "Don't worry. Whatever you guys want me to do, I'll do it. Just remember: look for clues, even on the club owner. I don't know if he has anything to do with this. As much as I hate to say it... but I've got a feeling that he might've had something to do with the incident on Zonama Sekot." Quorra gazed down at the pool thoughtfully yet with sadness. Could her old friend have something to do with the two thugs blasting the Jedi on Zonama Sekot? So many questions, so little answers...

Anakin's ice blue eyes were wide when he witnessed what CeCe did to this guy. She looked to be intimidating and could pin a person down without trouble! But she couldn't rely only on her strength. That's why she had her two trusted bodyguards, Zak and Mateo. And Lowell was a wise, old creature. Anakin couldn't wait to learn more about him...

"This lady could have kept up with your Dad and no joke,"
Tahiri said to Anakin. She seemed to admire CeCe's authority and no-nonsense personality. And who could blame her? The female bounty hunter was really something! "True. I like her. But not in that way," Anakin chuckled, placing a hand over Tahiri's hand.

After hearing what CeCe said, the young man turned to her and nodded. "Oh! Um, yes ma'am. We can do that." Getting up from the booth, Anakin politely gestured Tahiri to follow. Unknown to CeCe and her bodyguards, Anakin nodded once towards Jaina and Rhea's direction, hoping the two would follow, just in case they needed back up. The young man turned to Lowell, who just stood there with a soft and warm smile. "You're not coming, sir?"

"Oh, I will. I just want to make sure you and the others are safe," Lowell replied with a soft voice. "There are many eyes and ears around. Even in the wind. So be careful." Anakin nodded quietly, hoping that he would learn from this creature that lived longer than him. Somehow, Lowell reminded the boy of his deceased Jedi Master, Ikrit. "We understand. Thank you, Mr. Lowell."
"Please. Call me Lowell," the Tynnan said with a smile. He could sense the boy and Tahiri were very special in the Force. He also sensed others that were watching over them. He admired that.

With that, Anakin, CeCe with her bodyguards, and Tahiri walked out of the cantina. The streets of Anchorhead were a bit busy, so they all had to keep their guard up until they went to this junk dealer, Derek Patruno.

Zekk felt a premonitory chill at the suggestion from Quorra. It was indeed a strong possibility that her acquaintance had something to do with the incident that had brought them here: as a ringleader or a part of the group remained to be discovered. But Zekk didn't believe in coincidences; as for luck, he believed you made your own.

    Tatooine:

Jaina took a full ten minutes to finish her drink as she and Rhea made small talk about how bad a desert was on any planet, let alone one with two suns and only one season. "Well..." she commented spinning the empty glass in her hand, "....it looks like our accountants might be actually on the up-and-up." She placed the the glass on the table, "Or at least as up-and-up as accountants can be." The comment earned a wry look from Rhea. "I'm going to stop by the 'fresher before we try to track down the others. Meet me outside?"

Rhea nodded and Jaina made for the back of the cantina, being sure to keep an eye on the two accountants. She didn't know why, but they still looked suspicious and it was not until she was at the door to the 'fresher until she finally understood why: it wasn't 'normal' for patrons to get into a bar fight, and the men were simply curious. Jaina had forgotten that was was 'normal' for her: bar fights, suspicious activity, violence -- was pretty much un-heard of to everyone else.

Shaking her head at the life she lead, she entered the 'fresher and hoped that Anakin would not need any assistance for a few minutes.

    Naboo:

Don't worry. Whatever you guys want me to do, I'll do it. Just remember: look for clues, even on the club owner. I don't know if he has anything to do with this. As much as I hate to say it... but I've got a feeling that he might've had something to do with the incident on Zonama Sekot

Danni picked up on the younger woman's sadness. "Don't give up on your friend just yet, he might not have been able to say 'no'. Sometimes people have to take the 'least bad' option." Zekk raised his eyebrow, and Danni held up her hands. "I know, I know...situational ethics. From a scientist."

Jacen leaned back, looking smug. "My job here is done!" He tapped Zekk's leg, "Now if I can just get you to get away from all this black."

"What's wrong with black?" Danni asked. "I think it makes him look distinguished."

"In a swimsuit?" Jacen asked, shaking his head. "I still say that he still needs to branch out into other colors. Grey maybe?"

Quorra finally lost her battle to keep a straight face and chuckled at their ribbing of their friend, who was taking it all in stride. Seeing Quorra's smile, Jacen hopped to his feet. "Okay, now my job here is done. I'm going to go change."

"No pink!" Danni stage-yelled before Jacen could leave.

Jacen shot her a look. "But you said that I looked good in pink."

"Even so, you can't wear pink to Quorra's concert. We're trying to blend in." He opened his mouth to protest, but Danni pressed on, "And you can't wear pink to meet our Nubian minister."

Jacen deflated theatrically, "Okay." He looked at his friend, "Zekk, can I borrow one of your shirts?"

Zekk, having spent a lifetime with the good-natured ribbing of the Solo clan, did not even crack a smile....just replied with a solemn nod...which, of course, made Quorra laugh even harder.

"You're the best!" Jacen replied, clapping his friend on the back.

Watching Jacen leave, Danni leaned forward, "Quorra, just keep your eyes and ears open...don't do anything that isn't part of your routine. Zekk'll watch your back."

The woman stood lent on the wall outside the 'fresher with her arms crossed over her chest. She pretended to be occupied with studying her hands while she scanned the Force for anything that needed her attention. Most bar patrons had turned back to their drinks and mostly ignored their surroundings, though some were more curious than others. She felt herself being a bit impatient, wanting to follow CeeCee, Anakin and Tahiri, but pushed the reckless emotion down.

Washing her hands, Jaina glanced at the mirror and grimaced at the reflection. She looked...not horrible, exactly, but definitely 'haggard'. Sighing, she tried to fluff her hair a bit, just to give it some life. I need about a week's-worth of sleep. And a long shower. How Tahiri and Rhea managed to look good while traipsing around the galaxy fighting baddies was a total mystery. She'd have thought she would have gotten some of her mother's 'I-look-good-even-at-3am' genes but instead inherited Han's 'scruffy-looking-even-when-dressed-up' part of the gene pool. Sighing, she dried her hands and exited the 'fresher, almost running in to Rhea.

"Sorry, Rhea!" Jaina blurted, "I thought you'd be outside!"

She started walking to the front entrance and caught the admiring look from the blonde accountant. Maybe she wasn't as scruffy looking as she'd thought. Emboldened by that thought, she shot the slightly older man a wink and left the cantina, waiting for Rhea to catch up. She could sense Anakin a couple of blocks away and slowly headed in that direction.

Quorra went from a chuckle to a burst of laughter when the three had a comedic exchange. Seeing these three brought a breath of fresh air. She hadn't laughed like this ever since the last time she was visiting her parents. Before and during the Yuuzhan Vong War. But having new friends like Jacen, Zekk, and the others was quite refreshing. These guys weren't so bad, and she was proud to be an ally of the Jedi and GFFA.

Watching Jacen leave, Danni leaned forward, "Quorra, just keep your eyes and ears open...don't do anything that isn't part of your routine. Zekk'll watch your back."

Once Danni said this, the young woman nodded. "Gotcha. I guess we prepare for tonight's concert then?" Quorra glanced up at the evening skies, knowing that they still had a mission: to find out who the mastermind was.

The young brunette turned to Zekk and blushed. She couldn't wait to see what he looked like in other colorful clothes. She mostly saw him in black. But hey, Quorra did like the mysterious yet fun guys like Zekk.

Finally, Anakin, CeCe, and the others made it to the junk dealer's place. Before the group walked inside, CeCe had an idea. "Okay, here's the plan," she whispered to the group, "We all walk in separately. You and your girl walk in first, like your together. Then I'll follow in as well. Once I walk in and talk to Derek about meeting a Yuuzhan Vong, he might try and escape. Zak and Mateo will be outside the entrance, unseen. I'll give them the signal to rush in before Derek can escape. And you two can chime in by using whatever weapon or tactic you have. Sounds good? Any questions?"

Anakin thought about CeCe's thoroughly. If the slime-ball did try to run, he and Tahiri would be on the lookout as well. The needed answers from this guy. Who the Yuuzhan Vong was that he associated with and why. Everyone had a story to tell in this galaxy. And this one would be quite interesting. A junk dealer and a Yuuzhan Vong. What has this galaxy come to?

"Nope. I've got the plan. You, Tahiri?" Anakin asked, turning to his girlfriend. He was very happy that she, along with Jaina and Rhea, were with him. Without those three, this mission would be impossible. And they had extra hands with CeCe Barula and her two bodyguards. This was going to be one heck of a mission.

    Streets of Anchorhead, Tatooine--

Jaina kept a leisurely pace as she took a left at the next intersection, trying to look casual as she eyed a few of the outdoor vendors. Anakin had taken a right at that intersection, but she had a pretty good mental map of Anchorhead and she did not want to look like she was following her brother's small gaggle. A bright carpet caught her eye at one of the stands, and she stopped for a moment to run her hand down the fabric. It felt like silk, but that meant nothing...all of the good synthetics feel like silk, too.

"Pretty rug for a pretty lady." The shopkeeper announced in accented Basic, coming out to meet her, a large smile on his face.

Even though she knew the middle-aged man was laying on the charm to make a sale, Jaina still smiled at the compliment. Flattery will get you further than you think, her father had once said. "It's very nice." Jaina commented, taking her hand off of the fabric.

"Finest rugs in town!" He announced proudly. "Just look at the craftsmanship." He turned the rug's corner over, "See how the back matches the top? Only a true craftsman can achieve this."

Jaina nodded. She did not know anything about rugs, but she DID know that none of the rugs she'd grown up with looked like that on the back.

    "Impressive." She commented, meaning it.

"Indeed. I'smael is the finest weaver on planet, and he only sells to me." He lowered his voice, "Other vendors will tell you their rugs are 100% silk." He moved his head to the side and spit theatrically on the ground. "Pah. 100% silk? In today's economy? I ask you, who can afford this? You?"

Jaina shook her head, enjoying the shopkeeper's theatrics.

"Pah. No one can...that is why I will not sell you a false rug." He motioned Jaina closer and lowered his voice again, "I'smael uses a 50-50 blend of silk an synthetics. Gives the feel of real silk, with the durability of a synthetic."

Curious, Jaina reached out slightly with the Force...and found he was telling the truth. Or, at least, the truth as he knew it. I'smael could be lying to him. Impressed again at the shopkeeper's integrity, she ran her hand down the rug again, noticing that Rhea had stopped across the street and was watching the transaction.

"For you, pretty lady, I can let it go for...." he paused theatrically, "...two thousand credits."

Jaina cast him a sidelong look, if she learned nothing else from Han, it was to never take the first offer. Even without using the Force, she knew the he was padding his profit margin by quite a lot. "I'm just a simple traveler. Eight hundred."

The shopkeeper laughed an earnest laugh, enjoying the game. "You wound me, my dear, I take a loss at that cost. I will sell it for what it cost me: sixteen hundred."

It was Jaina's turn to laugh and she "You paid too much, my friend. Eleven."

"Eleven? I have a wife to support. Fourteen."

"Tell you what, give me this one, the green one, and that light blue one...." she countered, pointing at each one. "For thirty-six, and you've got a deal."

The shopkeeper paused a moment, his mind racing. "Deal." He said at last not wanting to risk losing the sale of three rugs, and knowing that he was still making a decent profit. He quickly folded the three rugs and tied them with twine.

Jaina took the three and transferred the credits into the keeper's account. "Thank you, my friend."

The shopkeeper bowed slightly, "Thank you, pretty lady. I enjoy a good haggle."

Jaina shook his hand, "Me as well."

Turning to Rhea, she saw her disbelieving smile as they continued down the street. "What? It was fun. Besides, he was telling the truth...I think."

As they made a right turn to head in Anakin's general direction, she felt his ping of excitement. "Feel that?" She asked Rhea.

Seeing the other's nod, she sighed. "Well, I guess my shopping tour just ended."

    Lobby of L'Hotel Palais

Danni sat in the lobby, waiting for her friends, and noticed Jacen as he was about halfway down the stairs. True to his word, he had borrowed one of Zekk's black dress shirts, but kept his own blue trousers. Danni fought a grimace, Jacen was right, he really didn't look good in black.

"I heard that." Jacen commented drily as he approached.

Danni smiled, she had forgotten they had gotten close enough that they could sense some of each other's thoughts. "Sorry. Earth-tones really aren't you color."

"I tried to tell you." He gave her a mock-leering once-over, "You, however, make the 'librarian' attire look good."

Danni rolled her eyes as she fought a blush. Only Jacen could say that without sounding smarmy. "It's all I've got. I'm sure Quorra will have something better."

"Pfft...she's a performer, of course she will. Still doesn't mean I'm not right."

Danni smiled again, "Thank you, Jacen."

It was now night time in the city of Theed. An hour and a half passed, with the four young adults arriving at a club well-known in Theed. They were dressed in decent clothes, hoping to make a good impression. Quorra was dressed in black and white clothing; her jacket being leather black, wearing black stockings with black and white outlined skirt, black non-heel boots, and white tank top. She looked more like a goth, but it didn't bother her.

When they approached the place, a huge Cathar bouncer stopped them. "Hold it. Who are you guys?" Quorra grinned and crossed her arms. "Jake. Now you've seen me too many times to ask me that." Jake gazed at the brunette and bursted out laughing. "Aaah Quorra! Good to see ya, kiddo! Sorry about that. It's my job. Are these your friends?"

"Ah, it's okay, old friend. And yep! These guys are with me. They're cool. Mr. Dellacour is expecting me anyway." Jake nodded with a grin. "Alright. C'mon on, kiddo. And enjoy yerselves!" After thanking Jake, the four went inside. The club was amazing!

The lights were illuminating beautifully with crowds dancing, shouting, and singing. Above, you could balconies, where some people stood and sat down. It was lively due to a band performing in the far middle of the club.

"Well'p here we are! The Golden Fire Club. Now the plan: I sing on stage next to distract the others and you guys find clues connecting to the Yuuzhan Vong or Peace Brigade. Sounds about right? Or do you guys have any suggestions?" Quorra asked with a smile.

But whatever you find, I'll see to it that it's yours." Deep down, he would do anything to make Tahiri happy. Once they were done finding the mastermind, he and the young blonde would settle down and finally have peace together.

Derek, a stout middle-aged man wearing a tan trench coat with brown jumpsuit and black boots, was done chatting with a customer about an old headphone he found. The dark-haired man with a bit of gray sniffed and glanced at the young couple. He smiled, happy that more customers came in. Before Derek could greet himself, CeCe walked in. Derek was distracted by her mysterious beauty and chuckled quietly. Two customers and a beauty pearl in his shop? This day was getting better! Or so he thought...

The dirt covered man slicked his hair back and walked beside CeCe , who was browsing a few jewelries on the counter. "Ah! A fine collection for a beautiful lady." "Indeed. These are a beauty." She grinned. "Are they for sell?" Derek chuckled. "Why, of course my dear. I am willing to negotiate a price." CeCe nodded while gazing down at a pearl, touching it lightly with the tip of her fingers. "Really? Well, would you be willing to negotiate," she said, fixing an eye on Derek, "about a Yuuzhan Vong and thier villip beetle?" Upon hearing this, Derek chuckled nervously.

"I... I don't know what you're talkin' about. I--" Then he bolted for the door. CeCe whistled for Zak and Mateo to block the door. And they did so by quickly coming in and closing the door. Derek stopped in track and glanced back at CeCe, who folded her arms with a grin. Anakin stood there, ready to take action. "Guess the shopping would have to wait, huh sweetie?" Anakin said, grinning at Tahiri.

    Derek nodded. "Well played..."
