Senate Rise Up To The "Identity Politics" Thread

I thought social justice was a pillar of modern socialism?

 

I view identity politics as a necessary evil. Ultimately, the whole point of identity politics is to render identity politics obsolete.

 

Dunno about Vivec, but social justice groups are mostly manned by extremists whose view of 'socialism' is 'what is good for my group?'

 

Not in the UK. Social justice is very tamed within the Labour party.

 

The only time I ever hear of there being a ludicrous amount of genders is when an anti-SJW pretends like an obscure post on tumblr represents the main focus of leftists. Don't worry. Letting people express themselves isn't going to lead to an epidemic of bizarre pronouns.

 

And even if it did, so what?

 

Identity politics is not an end goal, but a process toward the aspiration for true equality.

 

Yeah! It was better when socialists were all white people being casually and wildly racist, as the situation demanded.

Did I ever say that? You can make this about race if you want, but really it's about eliminating any discrimination at all. Not just changing whom discriminates against whom. Identity politics is just discrimination by another name. The problem with identity politics, in my opinion, is that it's the emo scene kid of politics, "You wouldn't understand!" Instead of acting as if only your in-group have the capacity to understand what you're going through...I dunno...try getting people to understand instead of attacking them for their race or acting as if their motives aren't pure and they're just trying to **** you over one more time. Maybe try not acting like that and more people will listen.
