Ok, I'm going to bring my bbq grill (gas only this time) to the party this weekend...

I need a consensus as to what we want to do with it... I'm willing to bring stuff to grill, just as long as I get paid back, because I'se po'...

Or we can take a vote at the party and then go to the store... I want to keep it as simple as possible.. nothing with a cook time over 15 minutes, so if you want chicken, you will need to boil it first to cook it, then I'll grill it... or something...

So... let me know asap, as I need to know how to plan.

    Thanks,

    CC

I voted for brats. To avoid payback, I will supply my own and barter out cooking time with you.

good thing we have you to keep us in line, LP. ;)

i'll pay for what i eat, and/or accompany bunny to buy stuff once we're there.

but as for the um... brewed liquid that comes in a can and makes people do stupid things.. i'm underage still, so if anyone wants us to get that on the trip, i'll have to hide in the trunk of bunny's car. ;P

[face_laugh] I love the title to this thread...

"Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone!"

Ripe meat eh? What the heck is ripe meat?

Perhaps it was meant as "red meat"?

Just struck me as funny. :D

    Absolutely Wenchy...

I think it was supposed to be too, but that's what I found in the transcript I got online... I think I need to re-watch it, and get the right quote... I jes' LOVES dem subtitles...

Heh... I wonder what it would take for a film maker to do subtitles in Ebonics...

Well, I've always heard it as "red meat" on the LOTR DVD.

See, now I have to go back and watch that scene again just to make sure...YIPPEE!

Ripe meat...well that's just gross. Ripe fruit is good. Ripe meat...bad. Kinda like a ripe diaper.

    ewwww.
but you know, I thought it was ripe meat too? hmm...perhaps there are different versions? I have the regular and the extended. I will have to watch for myself out of curiousity now...

I just listened to the extended version and Gimli rolls his r's a great deal so it sounds very close, but there is definately no "p" sound in it. I think he's saying "red".

I don't imagine that even a dwarf would want ripe meat...sounds more to the taste of an Uruk or an Orc.

I think it's a common misunderstanding... just like song lyrics are commonly misunderstood... like anything that Bob Dylan or Ozzie Osbourne tries to sing...

I think it's >supposed< to be red meat, but John Rhys Davies said it so mumbly, that it came out as ripe meat...

Either that, or he has a unique insight into dwarven cuisine... THe good news is that it's nowhere near as bad as say, ratonastick, with or with ketchup... or dwarven battlebread... (it's a day old)

    I [face_love] Terry Pratchett...

I too will pay for what I eat, and I's like burgers and dawgs. And brauts too, so if no one else votes to pay for burgers and dogs, I'll go for brauts.

not even orcs and uruks like ripe meat. remember in two towers how the uruks were complaining about eating maggotty bread, and the orcs were eager for some hot fresh meat?

they like eating any meat, as long as it's fresh.
