Man, that must have been a wild ride for the probably-substantial number of players who were in both the AAF and the XFL; neither league played one full season.

This sentence on the Wiki page for the XFL always makes me laugh

I just love the fact that there was once a football league with “professional wrestling-inspired features.”

 

But one of them can say they got cut short because of a pandemic.

At least Disney got through to Dana (via Governor Newsome), in the end. Vince went to a Trump ass-kissing Governor to help him.

 

True @Juliet316 though Dana's plan for "fight inland" being up and running within a month is pretty brutal too. I actually be more supportive if that was their plan long term say sometime in the summer but not now when we are going though our peak. Be like the MLB trying to start their season at their spring training facilities next month instead of down the road like it's planned.

But still what Vince doing is way worst especially since the show is going to be live. If it was taped at least they could limit the number of people in the building at a time to a minimum. Instead everyone will be there all at the same time particularly I assume the roster. And it's not like Vince will put these people up together at one hotel or rent several houses where they can all quarantine together for the next few months and have everything they need delivered so their only exposure is to each other. They are going to exposing others on top of themselves. No other state would ever agree to this....except one like Florida run the Governor from Jaws.

Good grief, what a petty lawsuit at a time like this.

XFL 2.0 will now always to me be a cultural signpost of that in-retrospect ironic blissful last few weeks before civilization unexpectedly crashed into an iceberg.

 

I don't see how it's petty to sue your employer for terminating a fully guaranteed contract without any good cause. It's not like McMahon can't afford to pay it.

 

Sorry; what I meant wasn't that Luck's lawsuit was petty, but that McMahon's firing him for "gross neglect" in the first place was.
