The GDG-contest-winning The Cave: A "Battle Monster" genre RPG is now open in the NSWRPF.

If you like Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Fantasy, or just having a good time in a relatively unattempted RP genre, this game's for you.

    THE ARENA ETERNAL

The Vadrigar, all powerful and all knowing, have summoned forth heroes, villains, mercenaries, aliens, gods and even mere mortals to participate in their most foul form of entertainment that they dare to call The Arena. But where they halt in their quest for both entertainment and warriors is anyone's guess. Who will be chosen next? Can anyone hope to survive such a brutal sport? And what is the prize offered when it is all over with?

I welcome any and all, veterans and n00bs alike, to join in the Arena Eternal and participate in a brutal bloodsport that even death cannot free a fighter from imprisonment. Any character from comics/movies/television/literature/fables/games/etc may be used, but original characters will not be considered. If a character seems questionable as to its originality, you will be asked to provide a link or a source in which the character is mentioned/listed/described.

It is never to late to join the Arena Eternal...

Lord Of The Rings: Rangers of the North

In the Lands to the north, a mystery is shrowding the world. The leader of the Dunedain leaves his men in order to attend the council of Elrond. The second in command has ordered a small party to accompany him in secret, not even the Heir himself will know, not until the time is right.
I would put down more, but I want everyone to kinda get the jist of the game without knowing much. If requested I will put up a more detailed post of it. Also, I will be putting up the opening post within the next two weeks(finals the week after next and want to get it up before then).

The GDG-contest-winning The Cave: A "Battle Monster" genre RPG is still accepting members. That's why I included A huge crowd in my initial IC. Don't be intimidated by the fact that the game has started already.

If you're interested in Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Fantasy, or just (hopefully) quirky RPing, or even dabbling in a genre we don't see a lot of 'round these parts, I encourage you to check it out, and shoot me a CS via PM if you're interested.

    Hollow Men- Collision

Some People Are Meant For Something More

    ___________________________________________________________________________

    Hollow Men- Collision

Heroes have existed in secrecy for many years. Only recently, due to a falling plane, did those with extraordinary abilities make themselves known. The man was named Taye Carter, granted super strength and the amazing ability of flight, Taye soared through the air, stopping the collision of a plane from crashing into a large ball park. Taye's appearance was meant with rousing questions, one of which was why he would sacrifice his very identity to save others, he replied with a polite remark, and a quality smile.

This was Taye's first taste of stardom, and the world's first encounter with those who were different. Gaining renown across the globe, Taye was the instructor of many others with special abilities, who slowly revealed themselves to the world. Carter promoted himself to be the open spokesman for this growing group of extraordinary beings. Although they had no answers regarding their origins, very little did their thoughts drift to this, most of these so called Heroes became obsessed with fame, the spotlight.

Taye would become the group's heart and soul, leading them across missions to protect and serve. The team, now known as the Eternals, were becoming headstrong and impatient with their status in-front of the camera. Bob Franklin, one of the long standing members, realized the radical idea of taking the team's outings and placing them as being apart of a reality program. The show became a roaring success.

At the turn of the new millennium, the popularity of the Eternals was proven to an even greater degree. Comic book sales had hit an all-time high, superhero films were even casting people with real abilities to play the parts of icons such as Spider-Man, even Superman. In 2001 a magazine titled With Great Power was released to news stands across the globe. It was the first and only magazine to take a deeper look into the lives of Heroes and even the Eternals. With Great Power became another huge success and leap into the publics eye.

The Eternals were a name known throughout homes, even the Times provided a cover story about the lives of the Eternals, yet one question always remained: Where did their powers come from? The team slowly grasped the regular occurrences of robberies, hold ups, protecting who they could, saving lives. Their reality show, though, was slowly hitting a steady decline with viewers. They needed something to spark a greater interest in their lives.

Coincidentally, villains, with equally amazing powers, provided that spark with a massive biological attack in New York City. Although striking personal chords with people across the globe, their ratings geared heavily, being the central focus of news and resources relating to the attack. In those dangerous times citizens looked to Heroes, and found them watching over their cities.

The Eternals were quickly spreading themselves thin, as a number of other attacks happened across Los Angeles, Houston, Cleveland, even Tokyo. It was erupting the globe into a frenzy. What was once ratings gold, had become a nightmare for billions of people. Luckily, another group known as the Archangels quickly took stride and positioned themselves as protectors of the people.

The Archangels had been around for nearly as long as the Eternals, the difference being the Angels did not share the enthusiasm for the spotlight as the Eternals had. The Archangels priority would always be the protection and guardianship of the world around them. This often times led to arguing differences between the groups, but nothing to set the people on the fence.

With the revelation of the Minority, a dark group set to take the fall for the biological attacks, the Archangels and Eternals engaged in a brutal battle on Am

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.........
    Star Wars Grey Empire
    Episode I
    The Force Sensitive Genocide

It has been about 10,000 years since Darth Krayt took over the New Galactic Empire, 9,800 years since his death, and 9,000 years since his great empire collapsed. For 5,000 years after the empire's fall the galaxy was in turmoil, small planetary governments constantly fighting each other laying waste to the already burdended galaxy. But in 6,126 ABY the GreySabers, an order of force sensitives who believed in using both the dark and light sides of the force, finally brought order to the galaxy after the Battle Of Bastion, defeating the Sith led army there. They created the Grey Empire, which was first led by a GreySaber named Helno. Helno made Bastion the capital of the new order and founded the Freeform Force Users Academy, or FFUA, soon after he took the throne.

Since then there have been numerous great emporers, all were members in the FFUA.Now however, it is 10,142 ABY, and the late emporer GreySaber Kenian has left the empire to Ter'ga, a man who has seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Ter'ga's first edict was the iradication of all force sensitives outside of the FFUA. This appauled many in the academy and they threatended war if the order wasn't stopped and if Ter'ga didn't remove himself as emporer. In an unexpected move, Ter'ga ordered that the members of the FFUA that did not remain loyal to him were to be killed along with the other force sensitives in the galaxy. Only 263 members swared loyalty to the emporer, all the others fled, hoping to create a resistance to Ter'ga.

Force sensitives aren't the only ones under attack from the new emporer. The Alliance of Free Systems, a group of 500 independent star systems who agreeded to join forces if the Grey Empire tried to control them, is now in war with the order. Emporer Helno originally signed a treaty with the alliance stating that as long as no military action was taken by them against the Grey Empire the systems could remain independent. Ter'ga violated this treaty by ordering his fleet to bombard the planets of Corellia and Coruscant. The remaining systems in the alliance quickly mobilized their armies and fleets to attack the Grey Empire.

The galaxy is plunged yet again into war, which side will you be on?

Task Force Gundark : The Untold Story of the Republic's Unsavory Heroes

My name is Jaycon Bryce, though I have been called many names in my days. I was once the leader of a great team of individuals. Not a team you'll ever hear of though. We were the Cheif of State's blaster bolt. We were the beings...or beasts as he liked to call us...that they sent in when the government didn't want to be involved. We did the dirty work, they reaped the rewards. Not that we didn't get our share o'course...

This RPG takes place between 30 ABY and 36 ABY (after the Vong War, before and during the Dark Ness Trilogy). You play a scoundrel, a member of the galaxies large "underground" class. You are prisoners, released from life-long captivity to serve out your sentace serving the Cheif of State as his secret police. Your missions will be of the unsavory sort, the kind of missions government doesn't want any part of. The kind of missions that keep everything running smoothly, by keeping the gears greased with blood.

As this will be a small task force, I will limit the number of players to the best 8 sheets I receive. Later, the number may increase, but as is the maximum will be 8.

Details will be given later, before we start the game (I'm shooting for an early January release, because I know most are still vacationing).

And now, a special preview of the latest project from newcomer Tedros RPG Productions...

    The Trojan Horse

    By Xavier Silverman

In an effort to learn more about the street gangs who are disrupting the peace, Chief Monroe has increased the use of undercover agents, giving the police a much needed edge in combating gang activity. The Stilwater Tribune was fortunate enough to get an interview with one such agent.

Stilwater Tribune: Thanks for agreeing to this interview.

Undercover Officer: Trust me, I wouldn?t be here unless Monroe ordered it, being interviewed kind of goes against the whole ?undercover? thing. [The officer lights a cigarette]

ST: Well I assure you, your anonymity will be preserved.

UO: Goodie. Well, I?m here, what do you wanna know?

ST: If you had to sum up the gang culture in one word, what would it be?

    UO: Respect.

    ST: Really?

UO: Absolutely, it?s the only currency worth anything in the streets,

    ST: What about money?

UO: Okay, fine, so it?s not the only type of currency on the streets but that doesn?t make it any less important. Out here, your crew is watchin? everything you do, and if you ain?t building up their rep they ain?t goin? to be happy.

ST: How do they expect you to do that?

UO: Geez man, it?s not like they hand you a manual on how to be a thug, they just watch and see what you do. How you dress, who you fight, what jobs you take on... it all matters.

ST: Alright, let?s take this one at a time, what do you mean ?how you dress??

UO: I mean how you dress. Your gang doesn?t care that you saved ten bucks by shopping at Sloppy Seconds; they want to see their crew decked out with jewelry from On Thin Ice and wearin? threads they bought at Branded.

ST: So it?s an image thing... and if you?re projecting the right image you?re gonna get respect faster.

    UO: Yep.

ST: You also mentioned ?who you fight.? I mean, you?re in a gang, aren?t you supposed to be fighting everybody?

UO: [The officer lets out a sigh and takes a long drag on his quickly diminishing cigarette] It?s not like that... gangs have a code of ethics. These guys are looking for control, not chaos... shooting up some lady using a walker is only going to bring attention to the gang, and that?s just gonna tick people off. Now shooting up another gang, that?s different... not only are you taking out a rival, but as far as the cops are concerned the streets are cleaning up themselves, so they won?t get involved unless bystanders get hurt.

    ST: You call that ethics?

UO: Well I never said these guys should be teaching Sunday school, I just said they had their own ethics.

ST: Could you elaborate on the ?jobs? you mentioned earlier?

UO: Nowadays gangs are trying to get involved in anything they can make money at.

    ST: Such as...

UO: Off the top of my head? Drug trafficking, theft, acting as hitmen, street racing, driving for escort services... hell, some are even starting to get into insurance fraud.

ST: So gang members do all these things just to earn respect?

    UO: Yep.

ST: It seems like a lot of work for a pat on the head.

UO: It?s not just a pat on the head... if your gang respects you, they?re going to ask you to do more important things...

ST: So they?re working hard just to get the chance to work harder?

UO: You obviously aren?t getting it. To them, bein? a gangster is a job just like anything else... you work hard you get noticed, you get noticed of course you?re gonna get more responsibility... but you also get more money and more privilege... so long as you don?t mess it up.

ST: One more question and we?re done here.

    UO: Shoot.

ST: My source in the department says that of all the undercover agents in Stilwater, you?ve managed to get the closest to the gangs in Stilwater.

    Captain's Log: Stardate 3416.3

First Entry. Today I was given the grand tour of my new command, the U.S.S Enterprise-G. It's still striking that Starfleet High Command appointed me to command Starfleet's flagship. God knows that if not for his heart problems, Picard would be standing on her bridge -or maybe still on the bridge of E or F- instead of sitting with the other Fleet Admirals, especially without even a war to direct anymore.

The next best man for the job went down with his ship in the last months of the war, that saw us lose both Captain Will Riker after almost fifty years of service, and the Enterprise-F after almost a decade and a half. Following the destruction of his ship, the U.S.S Titan and Picard's forced promotion, Will finally took a seat in the captain's chair he was destined to sit in, and he went down with his ship.

That left me, the next best Captain in Starfleet's eyes for the job. After the war ended, the U.S.S Rorscharch was certainly in no condition to fly again, and anyways, she was built during the war. She wasn't made to do whatever it is Starfleet ships did before it. Too menacing, I guess.

I don't like this new Enterprise. She looks soft, friendly, inefficient. I'm sure she's top-of-the-line, but War is all I've known in my Starfleet career. A ship that doesn't look like a warship just doesn't look right, if you ask me.

I'm a bit concerned, looking at her crew roster. None of the important posts have been filled yet. No Chief Medical Officer, no Security Advisor, no Science Officer, no First or Second Officer, not even a Helmsman yet. Added to the impending storm are two Ceaz'lin Ensigns under my command. Not to discriminate, but the Coalition of Galactic Powers just got done with an almost twenty-five year war with them, and they wouldn't cease hostilities with us until we beat them back into their own solar system. Seems awfully fast to have two of 'em serving as full Ensigns on the Federation's flagship, if you ask me.

One group of Heros is all that stands between the end of it all...and eternal darkness.
You are one of the few Heros...the fate of the world is up to you.

The Grey Journals - The Aftermath
The world has been engaged in a violent civil war for the past five decades. Men died, over and over. It went on for long enough that no one remembered the real cause for the start of the war. They were always quick to find a new one, though. The three countries were evenly matched. The it happened. What no one had ever imaged, what none thought possible. The three separate continents of Mechanus, Arkyle, and Gharderaan have collided with each other, sending massive shock waves throughout the newly combined landmass, destroying towns, outposts and farms, man, beast, and forest. Several were carried along by the waves. Some simply next door, others into as of yet unfamiliar territory on another continent. Three such groups are carried to the point of impact. It is widely feared that this is no mere coincidence. Several of the warlord fear they might find a way to overcome the prejudices ingrained in them since birth, and would be able to get the people to revolt. The warlords feared losing their power. In secret, they each started their own campaign to stop the newfound Fellowship.

Good evening, and welcome to the first edition of RPF Insider, where we take exclusive peeks into what?s going on behind the scenes with GMs and players alike.

The RPF Insider would like to send out a special thanks to Reynar Tedros, who graciously accepted to do an interview with us. We were very excited to sit down and chat with him, and find out what?s going on in that active mind of his.

RPF Insider: Hello Mister Tedros, and thank you for agreeing to this interview.

Reynar Tedros: Thanks for having me.

RPFI: First, I want to ask you something about your latest RPG, Toilets Are Unflushable. This past Thursday, you gave the RPF a preview into the upcoming game, Saint?s Row, saying that it would be released on Monday, January 8th. Yet on the same Monday, rather than launching Saint?s Row, you released a completely spontaneous RPG centered around the idea of being stupid. Could you elaborate on this decision?

RT: Saint?s Row was inspired by the videogame of the same title, and it was an idea that I was really excited about exploring in an RPG. But out of nowhere came this idea for a stupid RPG, where players were rewarded for committing acts of stupidity, and it just seemed to click that ?Wow, this is really what I want to do.? At the same time, I?d finished writing up the introductory post for Saint?s Row, and something just seemed to be missing that I couldn?t put my finger on. Yet the opening post for TAU, well, I really liked it, and several esteemed roleplayers that I passed it on to enjoyed it as well.

RPFI: And it also seems that the RPF would welcome an RPG like this, belonging to a genre that is rarely explored, rather than a Grand Theft Auto style game, often dubbed overdone.

RT: Exactly. Now this isn?t to say that Saint?s Row didn?t have its original features, but it was still lacking, and I hope to improve on it and release it to the RPF some time further down the road in my GM career.

RPFI: Was there any inspiration for TAU, or was it purely an idea that came to you out of nowhere?

RT: Well, one of LightWarden?s posts in the Game Designers Guild elaborating on what types of games are underdone in the RPF really struck a chord with me, and I suppose that the idea for TAU was fabricated from that in some form or another. Thanks Light.

RPFI: Aside from Saint?s Row, what can we expect from the growing Tedros RPG Productions in the future?

RT: A lot of fun. [winks]

RPFI: There you have it folks, straight from the mind of Reynar Tedros. Don?t forget to check out his latest RPG, Toilets Are Unflushable: The Stupid RPG!. Mister Tedros, thank you for your time.
