Rogue One [Rumor] Spin Off casting has begun.

I figured we had to start hearing some casting rumors swirling on this one soon. Good to know they're seemingly on schedule. Maybe we'll learn a little something official at Celebration.

 

I nominate Tatiana for the lead just so I can make clone jokes

I always thought Rooney Mara would make a good Jaina Solo. In any case, good to hear.

 

so the actresses are up for the female lead for Standalone Movie 1,
it's kinda hard to choose between the 3 actresses (familiar with all 3) when we don't even know what the female lead role is in the first place.

 

I really hope they don't cast Aaron Paul.

 

I liked him in Breaking Bad, but not sure how he'd be in SW. I tend to think those rumors were probably pretty unfounded anyway.

 

Mara in the photo accompanying the HR piece already looks like Ventress.

Just sayin'.

Well that definitely gets casting rumours off to the right start! I think Mara does well in just about everything she does and I've heard great things about the Orphan Black actress as well. Looking forward to hearing more!

Rooney Mara is awesome. Felicity Jones is really good as well. I don't know much about Tatiana Maslany.

 

Does all this mean one of the spin off will be about a female? If that's the case forget Star Wars: Han Solo......

Now I'm very curious about this movie.

 

I just want some actual idea of what these movies are about. These spinoffs are even more secretive/mysterious than Episode VII is. And Episode VII is being directed by JJ "Mr. Secrecy" Abrams. Personally I hope that they play some really cool characters. Bounty Hunters would be a nice choice.

 

For the female lead? Yes that would be rather unsettling. Although.....with the right wig and makeup....... No.. No.

 

Interesting news. I actually just watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Rooney's normal look is of course way different than how she looks in that movie.

If she wins the part it will be wierd for me knowing she is the great granddaughter of the founder of my favorite NFL team the Pittsburgh Steelers, Art Rooney Sr. and the great niece of Art's son Dan who now owns the team and is chairman. She is also related to the Mara family who owns the New York Giants, hence her name.

Might be too distracting for a Steelers fan like me to see a relative of the Rooney family as being a lead in a Star Wars film. I am open minded to it though too.

Really? I did not know that and as a lifelong Steelers fan myself, that makes me like her a bit more now...LOL

 

Yep. If you google her and find her bio, you will see how she is related to each Rooney and also each Mara. I know for a fact she is the great granddaughter of Art Rooney Sr. (the founder). His grandson Art II, who is the president of the Steelers who runs the day to day operations of the team now, is her 2nd cousin I believe. Art II's children are her 1st cousins.

I hope they do something like Marvel and tell us the titles or at least the premise of all the spinoffs at Celebration. Kind of a long shot though

 

I feel like Edwards film is more likely in that regard, given that it comes out next year. We might have to wait awhile for to find out what Trank's is about. BTW, when is the Celebration again?
