Playing some more Republic Commando, just took down a Spider Droid

 

Yeah, I've no idea. Never seen a Miyazaki VHS tape meself, but I've not really looked. I'm sure they are out there.

I do have an interesting version of Jaws on VHS that has most all the deleted scenes edited into the movie making it longer and obviously edited together in continuity, so I've held onto that. It's a 2 tape set I found at Target for $10 about 18 years ago.

Quint goes to a music shop to buy piano wire to use to catch sharks and he sings Beethoven's 9th with a kid playing a clarinet.
It's pretty neat and seems rare to have edited into a cut of Jaws, as none of the other releases (dvd/blu ray) seem to have it included.

I miss VHS

 

I do too. You could tape TV shows on them.

 

I was gonna say it's sad you were here at a time where like no one else was but I actually think I was still awake and just completely forgot to look at the thread

 

It's a slow time across all the boards.

 

I don't think I've met anyone saying they miss VHS's

. track lines

. fast forward and fast rewind being a pain

. no scene selection.

. risk of damage every time you rewatch

etc

 

I don't think I've met anyone who is saying VHS's as in plural with the S.
Although the younglings do call record albums "vinyls" now so there it is.

My neighbor now has the weird habit of listening to those washed up remixes of older hit songs but EDM-Ified... I’ve never understood that trend. If you like the song, why not listen to the original ??

 

I had some of my cross country races from high school on vhs and the vcr ate the tape

 

Oh man! Mom and Dad had some home movies on BETA converted on DVD. A lot of it was me when I was little, and it's interesting to see my speech development from toddler hood onwards. Part of it has me as a little girl reading fluently upside down. That would have been 89/90, and you see it with people with Asperger's- some learn to read early. I did.

 

My friend had a beta max machine. And an Atari.

 

I think we had "E.T." on Betamax.

 

I would say vhs won the betamax/vhs war.
