Since Azure was brave enough to ask for a number, so will I. #11?
There were not many numbers left, and I was too silly to understand the concept of the dice rolling, WarmNyota_SweetAyesha.
I try to be brave tonight and not to panic about the fact that my father is put back into artificial sleep in the intensive care unit.
This is why I urgently needed a number to put my mind on something different.
13 – The Last Shanty
Info: Written by Tom Lewis. A new recruit finds out a sailor’s job isn’t what it used to be.
11 – In All My Dreams I Drown
Info: From the Movie The Devil’s Carnival this eerie ballad is of nightmares and hell, of a maiden who doesn’t want to sleep for fear of her dreams. Note, I’ve never actually seen this movie so I can’t comment on appropriateness of it, but I thought the song was reminiscent of premonitions in Star Wars. The song does have one mildly suggestive line – but it can be interpreted in several ways, but if you are still uncomfortable, I will let you re-pick.
How's everyone doing on this anyways?
I actually do have an idea for mine, but it's NSWFF (my muse just seems to be stuck in The West Wing, but it's happy there), so I'm not sure if I'm going to give in and write it, or wait until something SW related hits me. I really wanted to write something with my pirate ship (Aurra/Hondo)
Briannakin -- hmm. Perhaps switch out to #8, if it's more in way of upbeat. Thanks.
I vote for Aurra/Hondo!
I have an idea for mine, I'm just getting a couple of other fics out of the way first. I think this challenge might reboot my humour muse who, save for a brief outburst last week, has been dormant for months.
I’m out and about right now so I’m posting VIA mobile, but would you like to trade songs with me? (We can do that because I’m the captain of this ship!) I got one of the few more upbeat songs (Rolling Out To Old Maui).
Yes, that would be splendid, thanks.
Great! I will fix the first post once I am home but here’s your new song:
7 – (Rolling) Down to Old Maui
Info: A song of the tropics from the point of view of whalers of the artic going down to old Maui.
I hope this fanfic challenge answer makes any sense and does justice to the shanty.
Mine is too sweet for my current mood. Might have to ruminate on it a bit more.
An Unusual Playlist
I'm done. It's weird and it got too meta(physical), but yeah. Make your way for...A Stranger in Someone Else's Dream! Those who love my OC, Anjie Mencuri, will probably enjoy it.
I will try #1
1 – Go To Sea Once More
Info: The Wikipedia page tells you all you need to know about this one! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_to_Sea_Once_More). A sailor, freshly ashore, gets drunk, sleeps with a prostitute, loses his clothes and his money, and has to go to sea once more.
Here’s my entry: What Do You Do with a Drunken Spectre? (Rebels)/Sea Shanty Challenge
My entry is up in Saga - ST: The Wooing of a Flyboy.
Briannakin, can I still request a song? If so, I would like #8, please.
So, I'm actually traveling at the moment, so it may be a few days before I can get you your song. sorry! Remind me if I haven't gotten back to you in a few days.
Sure, that's fine. We all have lives outside of the boards. There doesn't seem to be any deadline on this challenge, and I'm in no hurry. Safe travels.
Sorry for the delay (You're actually kinda lucky - I'm traveling with my laptop, which I almost never do).
8 – Barrett’s Privateers
Info: This is a modern rendition of the genre and it comes from Canada. It tells of a fictional privateering ship at the height of the American Revolution. More info can be found on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrett's_Privateers)
Excellent. Thank you, Briannakin. I will need to tweak the lyrics a bit to make it more "Star Wars," but I think I can get this to work for what I want.
Now to make the time to sit down and write it....
So, is #2 still available, or am I too late to the party?
Yep! you got the last one.
2 - Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate
Info: After four years at sea, two best friends are ashore again, but they must part ways.
Lyrics: Here is the Wikipedia page with a bit more info and a version of the lyrics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don't_Forget_Your_Old_Shipmate
Oh, cool, thanks!
