Calgary Sept 25th Light the Night Walk - All members

Greetings all.

Mark Sept 25th down on your calendar as this will be our 3rd Light the Night walk with Matthew.

Location: Eau Claire Market
Time: Check in is at 5pm. The walk starts at 7pm.

For those of you who don't know who Matthew is we first met him through Red 5 Collectibles in 2008 while he was going through his treatment for Leukemia. After each treatment at the childrens hospital Matthew and family would stop by Red 5 and pick up an Action Figure. I just happen to be in the store before the Clone Wars movie came out when Matthew and his family dropped in. After looking though all the figures on the shelf Dooks pulled out the new Clone Wars figures that were not on the shelf yet as they were not to be released until that Friday. Seeing his face light up when he picked out a Anakin figure was priceless. Matthew then joined us for our Line party ar Chinook for The Clone Wars Movie to come out with the big Kids to watch it first.

The First Light the Night walk we did was in 2008 when we came out in full costume to escort him on this walk. He had no idea we were coming and when we showed up for escort duty he was totally shocked. I have never seen a kid smile that big ever.
Everybody was commenting to him that he had the coolest team there. And they were right. When asked who we were he would reply "They're mine."

Please come out to this great cause and lets help make this year the biggest and best walk for our group. IF you can come in costume please wear your Tosche Station shirt or a Star Wars shirt. If you have a Light Saber Bring it as it looks great with all of us lit up walking together.

It is that time of year again and we are raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night. This is an evening that is very dear to Matthew's heart. Surrounded by family and friends, Matthew was able to walk the entire 5km for the first time since being diagnosed, it was a very proud moment for him. Matthew lost his very dear friend Addison this year and we are committed to beating this terrible disease so that not one more little boy loses his "first best friend" to cancer.

The walk will be on Saturday, September 25 @ Eau Claire Market.

So.............full costumes or just lightsaber?

 

costume with saber... DO a costume you can walk in as we do the full walk. It's about a 5km walk.

 

Aw crap! I'm not going to be able to walk this one I'll still see if I can drop by before the walk starts though! I hate missing this one!

Last night, what should have been a 1 hour repair job, turned into a 4+hour ordeal (and taking a couple of much-needed hours from my sleep time), but I finally got my double-bladed hilt operational again. Just for tonight! Just need to cram in some ironing and decide on a back-up lightsaber!

A very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported Matthew at tonight's walk. Fantastic turnout! Seeing his eyes light up every time a he saw a saber, and knowing we were all there for him - it's a wonderful feeling. And the fact that we walked the entire 5km with him and his family - whew! Need new insoles for next year.

Like Yrol said. Huge thanks to everybody who came out to support this cause and do the walk. I think this was the biggest gathering at an event yet. It was great to see everybody. This is exactly why we are the best Fan Force in Canada.
