So excited that WIP month is officially upon us[face_party]

It's Labor Day weekend here in the US, and I had the day off work, so to celebrate, I wrote 2798 words on my next chapter of Henry from the Hollow.

Which means that I have met my medium goal of writing 2000 words on that story[face_dancing]

Labor Day weekend is great for giving me a good starting momentum apparently!

Good luck, everyone! May your muses be very cooperative!

This challenge is the most challenging challenge to me. I find it really hard to get back into the brain-space where I was when I started these stories five or six years ago!

So, having failed to write a single word, I switched to reviewing mode instead and left reviews on Henry from the Hollow by devilinthedetails and Rocks by earlybird-obi-wan. Review goal 2/10.

@Chyntuck raises a very fascinating conundrum that I have often wondered about. How does an author get back into that space and be able to write on a story that's been sitting on hold for so long?

Some wonderful progress already, and some goals completed already—great work! =D= @devilinthedetails @earlybird-obi-wan @Chyntuck I have updated your index entries accordingly. :)

I haven’t got much to report myself yet (as my Labor Day weekend is turning out super packed and busy), but it’ll happen! Does cogitating and outlining count? :p

@WarmNyota_SweetAyesha that’s a very good point for discussion, and since I’m by way of in that very boat myself I have a few things to at least offer. My return to work on The Book of Gand was partly thanks to en external stimulus: one of those “tell us about your WIPs” games on Tumblr, where one person asked me about the file that happened to be BOG. That led me to go back to that file to look it over and see where I was, and it also encouraged me to try to get the files in better order, and as I did that things started coming back to me a bit, and I would add a sentence here or a sentence there—and that helped me get back into something resembling a groove.

So I guess that’s what I’d recommend trying: go back to that older WIP, look it over, get a read on where you left off, and then try writing just one sentence more to continue. Sometimes that can lead to more!

For me step #1 is to switch gears. Instead of starting with the story that's been neglected longest, I'm going to start over tomorrow when my mind is frustration-free, and I'll try one of the one-shots that I half-drafted earlier this year, just to find my writing mojo again. (The fact that I didn't write in August isn't helping me right now.)

Then I'll go for an older story that's already mostly written in its word-vomit form and I'll discipline it into something worth posting.

And then, I'll go for the story that was neglected longest and get my brain to focus on it.

If all else fails, I'll go water the plants and hope that it helps.

All right! Between yesterday and today, I managed 2,538 words on A Kingdom Where My Love Can Stand - and I figured out where I'm going for my Starset Challenge fic and blocked in the bare bones. Which is really exciting, because I'm trying something a bit different with it, to say the least. So, all good things! [face_mischief] [face_dancing]

Now, to see if I can finish a few reviews today and tomorrow, and I will call that a most excellent start for this WIPmonth.

Good luck on your goals, everyone, and may the muses be with you! [face_dancing] =D= [:D]

    Reviewed Rocks by earlybird-obi-wan.

I haven't actually written anything yet, but I did open up my docs for the first time in a few months and just kind of sat with them without getting upset or anxious. So I'm counting that as progress.

Good luck to everyone, and happy reading and writing! :)

@earlybird-obi-wan and @amidalachick I’ve got your reviews indexed now! And I too have now reviewed the very enjoyable Rocks. :)

EDIT: I also realized that my link to BOG in the index should probably be to the fourth part that I’m working on now rather than parts 1–3 that are already finished, so I updated and clarified that as well.

Lovely to see everyone's continued progress as both readers and writers=D=

On my own behalf, I am happy to report that I have finished a oneshot:

    The Legend of Pelican Mothers

Which means I am halfway to my large goal of writing multiple oneshots this month[face_dancing]

[face_dancing]I FINISHED A GOAL!!1![face_dancing] 300 words on The Cat Came Back (314 to be exact ;) ) I know that’s a really tiny goal, but it’s more than I’ve written in weeks, so I’m quite happy that I was able to accomplish it this soon.

The cat does not have a hat, at least not at the moment. He first has to convince a very reluctant Mandalorian to let him stick around…

    *cracks knuckles*

Alrighty! I am happy to report that I've finished another 1,461 words on A Kingdom Where My Love Can Stand, for a new total of 3,999 words. And I am now 425 words into my unposted Starset Roulette fic. So yay, progress! :D

As for reviews, I have one review to put towards my goal, with Reclamation, by @Gabri_Jade! [face_love]

Yay! Such a joy to see the great work continuing apace. @Mira_Jade and @earlybird-obi-wan , you are now updated. Looking very good!

Earlybird, this means that you have now completed three of the four short mini-games stories you were planning, right (“Jedi Ferry,” “Rocks,” and “I Am a What?”)? Please confirm—I can list all the completed ones in your index entry.

As for me, I am pleased to report that I am 1207 words into a new chapter of The Book of Gand, Part the Fourth, and all is going great! :D
