We're under a flash flood watch until Sunday night.

I'm stocking up on fermented grapes and fermented hops this afternoon.

We have seen the weather terrorists, and they are VW.

But this thing may peak as a category 4 hurricane over San Salvador Island/Rum Cay as it turns north. Crazy.

It's already peaked at a category 3 but it may down grade after passing over the islands or it could end up being a category four. Who knows but this year every single storm has burnt itself out just about after passing over the islands. We'll see how this one pans out. Should be interesting.

The islands it's passing over are small enough and the water's warm enough that it will continue to get juiced up for the next 24-36 hours before it hits colder open Atlantic. Discussion warns that eyewall replacement cycles may weaken it a bit in the short term.

I hope Donald Trump walks out in it, and the wind blows his hair off.

I'm sure some of you have seen this already, and the joke is rather obvious, but...

maybe they're right about the course, this thing looks like it could swing itself directly back out to sea....

computer models now in broad agreement that it heads back out to sea. But right now it's the biggest Atlantic hurricane in a while. The central Bahamas will get another full day of hurricane conditions. The hurricane will weaken as it moves north and hopefully pass west of the Bahamas and east of the U.S. coast as a category one hurricane.

That's more or less what the Radar is showing is the Hurricane has already begun to pull away from the islands..... If that continues it will be heading back out to sea.

    My prediction for next year

    Florida will be bombarded.

Well, I am glad the models are predicting exit stage right. May it stick to that offbeat path and hit dry air soon. Really don't need a repeat of Sandy any time soon thank you very much.

    Stay safe everyone.

LOL at the image DarthTunick posted.

If this storm's path is any indicator. It's going to skim Florida's shore lines. I have noticed that on the radar the change in the way the wind moves is a huge indicator. You may not be so lucky next time. It's mainly dictated on the jet stream as well. It's moved back enough that a well organized storm can make landfall now.

repellent as you call it is gone.

Just a matter of time now.

I know this is the Atlantic thread, but holy hell: Patricia went from a low level tropical storm to one of the most powerful storms on record in 36 hours. Crazy. Time to figure out which disaster relief organizations to send donations to.

it's a category five and it's in good position to make land fall for sure.

I pray that everyone that is in the path of the storm, stays safe,

is Red Cross a good place to make donations?

50,000 people being evacuated from the coast in the Vallarta-Nayarit area. Mexico hasn't had much time to prepare, but the government apparently has 1,782 temporary shelters in the area with capacity for a quarter million people

I can't believe how close to land it developed. That's just nuts. I remember Andrew developed into a category five before it made land. kind of eerie

It's so strong it will be almost completely over land before it drops to category 4 status. After that it will be hammered by the mountains quickly. But it's going to send huge amounts of rain to coastal Texas.
