Beyond - Legends Shadows of a Past Long Forgotten (NJO- post Rebirth, tagged, Completed 12\30\02, *sniff*)

Now that was just a down-right entertaining exchange between a queen and her reluctant prince for a son. And a totally unexpected turn for the story! I can't wait to see how this bit of the plot fits in.

 

Thanks Padawan_Di-Lee Chapter 3 I think is kind of another little plot... though it's just setting Kyp up for his grand scheme. I thought I would be able to get it up earlier, but I ended up watching my three nieces and having my nephew bounce and crawl all over me ANywho, here is Chapter 3!
Anywho...

Chapter Three
Beneath Imperial City, Coruscant

With so few people actually able to live on the 14th level of Coruscant, Darius Starchaser couldn't figure out why the smell of body odor was so dominant. It didn't help matters that the passageway he was in looked like it hadn't been used for 50 years, and smelled of mold, dust, and rodents, "Nice place," Daruis commented to his partner, Toman Lochfield, who was just finishing a sneezing fit.

"Yeah," Toman sniffed. "They should feature it in a travel brochure." He flashed his glowlamp around the tunnel, frowning at the point where the path split into three different passages. "You sure Durron said we take the one to the right?"

"Yep," replied Daruis, already walking towards it. "That doesn't necessarily mean we'll find anything down that way."

"No kidding," Toman caught up to him. "The Force showed him the way." He said sarcastically.

Darius snorted, as he cautiously started down the right pathway. "In a great vision, of Jedi records and artifacts, even a strange statue of a young girl... just what I was looking for." He said, mimicking Kyp. "I'll believe it when I see it." They'd run into Kyp on Erdict, where they were uncovering artifacts dating almost back to pre Old Republic. Impressed by their work, Kyp had offered them the job of locating Jedi artifacts for him, even ones he had seen in a vision.

This path was worse than the first when it came to dust and cobwebs. Darius had to rely heavily on his glowlamp. The fungus that grew on the upper levels was no where to be found in the catacombs on the fourteenth. The darkness was so thick here it felt heavy on his shoulders, it almost seemed to smother the beam coming from his glowlamp. He could barely see a meter ahead of him.

"Well, all I can say is, I better get paid whether we find it or not," Toman declared. Another sneezing fact hit him, and he rubbed his nose on his sleeve. "It better be worth this."

Darius nodded, stepping further down the passage. He held his glowlamp before him, illuminating low hanging hawkbats and rodents scurrying across the floor. Just a meter away, he thought he could make out a door. He quickened his step, grabbing Toman's sleeve. " I think I found it

"Wonderful," Toman said, releasing his arm from Darius and giving him a dirty look. "Think there'd be any traps laid out?" He asked, cautiously approaching the door.

"Traps?" Darius asked, slightly amused. "What do you think this is? The death chamber of an ancient King with mystical powers?" Darius began wiping the dust off the door in search of an opening. "Perhaps we should offer a prayer to the Force to protect us from the great evil we are about to unleash..." his sarcasm was cut off by a none-too-gentle punch to the arm.

"I was just being cautious." Toman glared at him.

Darius' probing fingers found the release, and he pushed it in. Impatiently, he pushed it a few more times. Not surprisingly, nothing happened. "It's locked."

"I can fix that," Toman unhooked his blaster. "Step away."

Darius walked away from the door, and stood folding his arms next to his partner. Toman shot the lock; it sparked and made a mechanical groan. "Thanks," Darius said, coughing in the residual smoke.

"Welcome," Toman said, holstering his blaster with a flourish. "Shall we go in?"

Darius extended his arm. "Ladies first."

"Cowards last." Toman sneered at him, stepping through the doorway.

Darius followed cautiously behind him, his hand hovering over his blaster. Toman's talk of traps wasn't making him nervous... he was just being careful. That was it: careful. Stepping behind

so far, this is fantastic! i don't think i've actually read any of your fics so far--weird. well, keep it up. the l/m scene was awesome...and the prologue wasn't as long as you had made it out to be

Chapter 4
14 levels beneath the surface of Coruscant

Wald watched Bartand Stephen load the cargo hauler. A gleeful feeling formed in Wald?s stomach as he thought of their fortunate discovery. By running from the Groundquake, the looters ahead of them missed out on a huge load. There was everying from old lightsabers, robes, to what could have been training tools. Even the frozen girl was of interest to him. Wald touched the cool gray of the carbonite rectangle, glancing up into Bart's eyes. "Who do you suppose she is?"

Bart shrugged his shoulders. "At best, a long lost Jedi Knight. Which would account for all the Jedi artifacts we've found." He paused. "Can you imagine how many credits we could bring in for her?"

"I can." Wald nodded. "But I wouldn't bet credits on her being a Jedi. I'd assume she's either a servant being punished, or maybe even one of Palatine?s concubines."

"Doesn't matter to me," Stephen said, helping to push the carbonite block into the hauler. "As long as she's a sweet young thing."

Bart laughed softly, elbowing Stephen. "Haven't had a woman in awhile, huh?"

"Oh, I've had a woman," Stephen replied, his dark eyes glittering. "But not a girl." He said, leering at the block of carbonite.

"Then you'd better hope she isn't a Jedi, or you wouldn't get close enough to touch her," Wald interjected, sealing the back of the hauler.

Bart froze. "What if she is? We don't have anything that could hold a Jedi."

"We'll play it safe," Wald said, walking to the front of the vehicle. "And not release her until we have some ysalamiri. Now," he gestured to the doors. "Why don't we head to the spaceport while security's down?"

Imperial Palace's Spaceport, Docking Bay 12

Corran Horn watched in silent amusement as Miranda Sierr tried desperately to lift two suitcases, a carry-on bag, and keep her short pink skirt down. Rubbing a smirk off his face he asked, "Need some help?"

"No," Miranda swayed to her feet. "I got it."

Miranda had short blonde hair, sparkling blue green eyes and a friendly smile. Her flirtatious nature and sociability was going to cause problems at the Academy; Corran was already trying to calculate how many young Jedi hearts she would break. Corran stepped across the transport?s cabin to her, grasping the handles of her suitcases. "How about I be a gracious escort and help you anyway?"

"If you insist," Miranda said with a sigh, gladly releasing her burden onto him.

Having only her carry-on bag to juggle, she released the hatch and led the way down the boarding ramp. The docking bay was strangely empty, the only other ship being a small Corellian corvette. The first person Corran saw beyond Miranda was Luke Skywalker, who wore a mischievous smile.

"Hello Corran." Luke greeted him, blue eyes twinkling.

Corran frowned slightly, wondering what Luke was up to. "Hello," he said cautiously, just as speeding ball of motion attached itself to his right leg. Corran swayed a bit as he took the final step off of the ramp. Jysella's squealing brought a smile to his face. He set the suitcases down and ruffled his daughter's dark hair. "The rodents in this Spaceport get bigger every day!" He lifted his right leg to Luke, earning high-pitched giggles from his daughter. "Look at this sucker!"

Luke grinned. "You'd better be careful Corran, if it bites you, you could get really sick."

"Oh no!" Corran feigned terror. He gently shook his leg, causing Jysella to laugh even harder. "It's not coming off. Do you think TK would do the trick?"

"I can try..."

"Daddy!" Jysella cried, looking up at him. "It's me, Jysella!" She grinned, green eyes sparkling.

"Oh!" Corran hit his head. "I never would have guessed." He winked at Luke, and pried his daughter from his leg, lifting her

So, the Academy moved to Coruscant?

 

Oh poor Helaine! It doesn't sound like coming out of carbonite is going to put her in a much better situation than she was in before. I hope a certain prince comes to rescue her.

Kyp is really stirring up trouble, recruiting apprentices right from under Luke's nose. Luke had better come up with a tatic to deal with him soon.

Again, I love the parent/child interaction - "Nope... I'm Daddy's little terror." LOL!! That is SOOOOOO cute.

 

LOL!! Jysella is so cute and funny, especially when she said she was her Daddy's little terror. I wonder who's with them?

 

Well I was going to say a bunch of nice things but I was up in the mountains all day and I'm sleepy, so....What Di-Lee said!

I enjoyed that.

 

oooooh, that scene with the looters in the first scene was positively creepy, just like The Mummy.

and great scene at the spaceport, too.
