I enjoyed the SOTE novelization and some of the toys were neat for their time, though horribly dated now (and without the nostalgia of the vintage line). I never played the games or read the comics though.

Then you will never know the true creepiness of a Dianoga, nor the true danger of IG-88. ;)

"The day is approaching to give it your best,
And you've got to reach your prime
That's when you need to put yourself to the test,
and show us a passage of time,
We're gonna need a montage, (montage)
    A sports training montage (montage)

Show lot of things happ'nin' at once,
Remind everyone of what's going on, (what's going on)
And with every shot show a little improvement,
to show it all would take too long,
    that's called a montage, (montage)
Even Rocky had a montage (montage)

In any sport if you want to go,
From just a beginner to a pro,
    You need a montage, (montage)
    A simple little montage (montage)

Always fade out in a montage,
if you fade out, it seems like more time
    has passed in a montage"

Had to do it. [face_whistling] :D

Okay--then where's the Palace part of the picture from?

EDIT: Hey, speaking of SotE, here's Xizor in FoC! He sounds Chinese!

The SotE N64 game is still one of my all-time faves.

The jetpack action was sweet, escaping the skyhook was sweeter, and by golly, IG-88 scared the bejesus out of me.

I liked the book as well. By my account, a nice bridge novel between ESB and RotJ.

I think the real question that should be asked here isn't 'Why?' but 'Why Not?'

I still hook up my N64 from time to time to play that, and Rouge Squadron. In fact, SOTE was the reason that why I got my parents to buy that system for me.

Which at the time SOTE came out was not considered canon.

Not to mention that they meshed Rogue Squadron-esque apace combat perfectly (IIRC) with ground-based blaster fights with niether feeling too clunky, a task that we sadly have tried and failed time and again (Rebel Strike and the Battlefront series to name a few)

    Ahem, Darth '03; source?

It was confirmed canon by me - that's source #1 of the opposing side.

I'm sorry, but if you think the messing of ground and flight combat in SOTE was perfect, I think you're letting your SW fandom blind you a bit. The on-foot shooter/platform levels are pretty much universally considered to have bad, clunky controls, though the flight and vehicle levels were rather smooth (which is why those levels were the basis for making Rogue Squadron- ironically, the series would come full-circle with Rebel Strike's inclusion of on-foot shooter/platform levels, though they weren't perfect either, they were certainly a humongus step-up in quality and integration from SOTE).

Still, the "N64 fog" did add a certain level of creepiness to the environment that I rather enjoyed. Sometimes technical limitations can inadvertedly help a game.

I don't remember the fog, but I have that memory booster thing that came with the Rogue Squadron game. That was long ago, so I may have noticed at the time I first played the game.

There was actually a book written about the entire marketing strategy behind SOTE. Has anyone read it?

You want it to happen again?

    How about Episodes 1,2,3

All carefully planned multimedia campaigns to drown us in logos in every environment of entertainment, and even some educational avenues...

With the TV show coming, I would expect novels, comics, and maybe a game or 2 involved with that project. Anything with George's fingers directly on it can go unaccompanied.

*side* wasn't SOTE originally a concept from Lucasarts that was expanded into the other outlets. They came out at approximately the same time, but the game was pushed first, and followup promotion through the book and soundtrack came later. I think this was from a Perry interview somewhere. He wrote to compliment the game.

The book was out at least six month before the game.
