The point of this thread is to have some fun by putting SW quotes in Shakespearean format.
    Enjoy!

"Mine quote was not jest. T'was truth from another man's point of view." -- Ghost Obi-Wan to Luke

"If thine swordplay were as sharpened as thine wit, Master Yoda should soon be rivaled." -- Obi-Wan to Anakin.

"Ancient arms and will-he, nill-he religions are not any match for a ready blaster at the side of an able man." -- Han Solo

Tee hee! Lee you are *really* good at these.
You know there was this brilliant thing on the fan fic board Star Wars a la Shakespear. And now I keep picturing Darth Sidious and his Apprentice huddled about a cauldron like the Weird Sisters from Macbeth.^^^

Okay, if you dare to call your quotes "Shakespearean", then at least consider writing them in iambic pentameter.

    Here are a few tips:

In iambic pentameter, there are 10 beats to a line, and 5 feet (which contain 2 beats -- unstressed and stressed).

Here's an example from Romeo and Juliet:
Two households, both alike in dignity,
(Da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum)

This topic would be much more interesting if you followed this model. Just using words such as "thou" does not make it sound Shakespearean.

There are exceptions to iambic pentameter, by the way. Feminine endings have 11 beats per line. Then there are overfull lines as well (~12 beats). This is usually the case during periods of heightened emotion.

I was going to write some SW Shakespearean dialogue of my own, but now I'm way too tired. Perhaps tomorrow ...

    True enough.

But when viewing a Shakespeare play, does anybody really pay attention to iambic pentameter?
If they do then they are a killjoy.
Too obsessed with analysis and not about having fun.

That's what this thread is for--having fun.

Vader: Thy master Obi-Wan did not reveal
the truth concerning Anakin, thy father.

Luke: He toldest me enough, thy treacherous fiend!
The guilt of murder lies upon THY shoulders!

Vader: Nay! Thy father is in truth alive and well.

Luke: What is this hideous lie thou layest forth?

Vader: I, Darth Vader, is in truth thy father!

    Is that iambic enough?

from A MENACE MOST PHANTASMAL, Act I, Scene ii:

KENOBAE. O sore afear'd a-deep within my bones, I am.

JINNE. What reckon thou? Yet here the same; I sense it not.

KENOBAE. Not hith'r, Mater; afar and strange hence does it lie.

JINNE. Settle not upon thy fears, my youthful Squire; direct thy thoughts to here, and now, post-haste!

Luciferus doth protest too much, methinks.

True that Shakespeare used iambic pentameter in most of his works and usually in blank verse. He also used prose for most of the comedic characters such as Falstaff. Since LeeKenobi clearly states that this thread is for fun, I say we get to use all forms available to us. OK - enough of that! On with the quotes! :) These are great!
