Hmm, we should be getting the Supreme Court's opinion on this at any time.

And the evangelicals are going ape****

They're going to block courthouse doors to stop same-sex couples from buying marriage licenses?

We'll know history is repeating itself if cities have to start bringing in the National Guard to escort these couples into the courthouse.

    Pathetic.

I wanna see that. I really do, it would be so cool but hilariously funny. The president would call the national guard and they would show up at the court houses.

Of course you would see a lot of couples both gay and straight going there to get their marriage certificates cause it would be exciting and fly in the face of those who hate it.

It is pathetic. I imagine they'll go ape defecation quite often. But anything that makes organized religion decline in many cases is a good thing. I may believe as a panentheist that some form of divinity shaped the Cosmos, but I also, as a transtheist, don't care are what's after death (nothing, reincarnation, whatever). I believe how we treat each other ethically in this life is what matters the most. Most evangelical and fundamentalist Christians are taught by corrupt preachers to treat people so horribly. I've only known one woman who is a fundamentalist and she treats gay/bi/trans people very well. She pretty much keeps her beliefs to herself. Religion can bring out insecurities in people and it's absurd. If we had more people like the Unitarian Universalists and Pope Francis, that would be great. Unfortunately, we don't.

There are evolutionary reasons for people being born with different sexual preferences than heterosexuals. It's too bad some people can't accept that love is love, as well.

At any rate, while it's nice that about 69% or so of the US legalized same-sex marriage in the states, I look forward to it being legalized nationally. I'd like to be able to marry a woman here in Texas. :)

Hopefully in the future this won't even be a question.

I agree with you on many points.

I can't bring myself to believe, from what I see around in nature and the universe, that we are merely a chemical accident that keeps "accidentially" evolving in the right way to survive. However, I do not believe in some dude in the sky who's watching us. I simply believe in a force of creation, if you will, that is neutral and does not judge, sentient in some way that we may never understand, but does not interfere for or against us. More like, he/she sits and watches what we do and thats it.

I believe in us, in humanity. We have the potential to be so much more if we just treated each other a little better and worked together a little bit more. I believe you can do in life whatever you want, as long as you don't hurt people. Once your actions interfere in a negative way in my life, that's where I draw the line. If gays and lesbians want to get married, don't bother me because their private life does not affect me in any way.

And these people aren't even interested in having the church marry them. Its more of a spouse legal rights issue.

I do love watching the Bible humpers loose their **** over stuff like this. I cannot wait to see them cry once the SC legalizes gay marriage.

That's fair. We're all humans, and so it's best to be humanitarians like you said. Human rights and legal issues are what deserve our focus.

Yes, it is amusing. I've read various studies at the library about how same-sex marriage is good for society in general. With so much bad stuff going on, at least we're getting one thing right that will be good for the country.

What's even more funny is watching Koran-humpers lose their **** over the same things as the Bible-humpers.
