Star Wars FF Discord I am on made making character inspiration boards their April Bounty. I've made two so far one for Kit and one for Del and it's been a lot of fun.

We also finally got our summer storms tonight. Storm, singular, and in Autumn which is really, really unusual, but the weather is strange at the moment so we'll see if it actually gets cold(ish) anytime soon.

Good to hear that your gallbladder issues are sorted out @Kit' ! Those character boards are nifty; I'm guessing they're a good exercise to condense your thoughts about a character at put them in order.

Weather-wise, we didn't have any winter at all this year in Greece, except for a single colder week sometime in January. Most of my deciduous plants didn't even shed their leaves and some started blooming at the strangest time. We're told that the summer will be unbearably hot :(

It's the beginning of Easter break as of this afternoon, so we shipped off the entire Chyntuck tribe to northern Greece as soon as they came from school, and now it's just Mr Chyn and me in an eerily quiet building – well, right now now it's just me, but we're getting a few days just the two of us since he isn't getting any time off except for the public holidays next week.

And of course, the moment they left I saw that the Ahsoka trailer dropped, and now I'm fanning myself (and thinking that I really need to finish one of my long!fics before the show interferes with my thought process).

Best wishes of Easter and Passover to those of you who are celebrating this weekend, and even to those who aren't!

The rerelease is sadly NOT being played in my area. So, 2004 DVD version it is!

I watched it on Disney+. It was helpful because movie theaters don’t let me randomly act like a contortionist on the floor. My back has been in knots since Thursday.

Yeah, but I'm weird and consider the 2004 DVD releases to be the definitive edition. :)

Hope your back starts feeling better, Ish.

For me, the definitive ones are pre-special edition. I love the Ewok song and don’t miss Jabba in Mos eisley.

I’m at church on a metal chair and my back isn’t happy about it.

@pronker -- Craiyon (the AI image generator that I like to doodle with) changed their version recently and it does animals better now. Guess what I prompted it to draw? :D (That's right, it's pengotters. Pengotters all the way!)

I like the 2nd one the best! Popped in to say hi, because @Chyntuck's posting in the OC Alphabet game had a link to an old, OLD story I co-wrote, and even though chunks of it are lost to truncation, I couldn't resist reading it all the way through. Man, it was TWENTY YEARS ago! And yet, I did feel most of it held up pretty well! It's always a shock to be confronted by your early stuff, isn't it?

Hugs all round! Here, the landlord switched on the air con, I put the short sleeve shirts away, and BOOM! Cold snap. Typical.

It’s now Revenge of the Fifth and my happy time. :). Also, I love the last day of the week. I’ll be having an afternoon tea with a friend and I’m getting to use the table linens I got in Panama last year. And on Saturday, I’m going to an opera about Steve Jobs. People keep asking “WHYYYYYYY.”

Why fuss over individual days when we have an entire Star Wars month?

I sent that to my sister who doesn’t remember such days. She’s the one who made me the cool aunt in charge of introducing her kids to things like Star Wars and anything by Tolkien.

So, last Saturday, I went to a really interesting opera inspired by the life of Steve Jobs. The soprano love interest was ill, but sang off-stage while the assistant director acted the part on stage.

They canceled Monday and Wednesday performances due to cast member illnesses. They just announced Friday is canceled. Their last performance is scheduled for Sunday and they’ll know by that morning if they can perform.

If not, my last opera experience in Utah will having been one of 1876 people to see The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs in this production, which is the first time Utah Opera ever performed it. I’m starting to feel like I did during 2020, when 85% of seats were occupied and they kept giving me tickets because I was one of the few arts reviewers around here who didn’t mind going to shows that had to be under 90 minutes and consisted of a few people on stage while there was a video of the rest of the cast.

Okay everybody, I have to ask: is there a reason the boards are so quiet lately? Is it just that everybody is dealing with all sorts of stuff at the same time, or is there something going on in North America that I'm not aware of, or was spring always quiet around here and I just don't remember it?

I think this thread has just slowed down in general. I've been more and more busy with my new whitewater kayaking addiction. Tomorrow I leave for the second of four consecutive weekends out of town for kayaking.

It’s the end of the school year in many places, so people are busy. I’m quieter because I’m on a deadline for an anthology submission.

Hi! :) I've been gardening quite a bit - the yellow pear tomato vine is producing actual tomatoes shaped like yellow pears. (What did I expect with a name like that? :p)

That's awesome! I hope you have fun, and please post pictures when you have a moment :)
I always forget that the school year ends so early in the US. Here we still have a month or more to go.
    Go you! [face_good_luck]
I dunno, banana-shaped blue cucumbers? :p We don't have all those varieties here, which is weird since this country is tomato heaven. I need to check out if it's legal to import seeds and try them out.

We had no winter to speak of this year, which means that there was little gardening to do in the spring, since we mostly continued with the plants we had last year. But I'm keeping up my weird cacti and succulent cultures. I have a whole tray of adeniums ready for transplanting, and Chyntuquita's baobab is growing steadily (yet slowly enough that it will still fit in pots for the foreseeable future [face_relieved] )

It’s not all students. Back home, my schools got out in late June.

Terrifying thing of the week: a student in a school a mile away brought a loaded gun to school yesterday. One of his classmates saw it in his backpack and told the teacher. The police intervened and no one was hurt. Everyone stayed in their classes until the boy was in police custody. I don’t have kids, but I teach Sunday school for students at that school and three of my friends have kids there. I’m so grateful that a student was that observant.

@DarthIshtar , that is truly awful - I'm really glad no one was hurt though it must be terrifying to have that happen.

@Chyntuck , I didn't know you could grow a baobab like that, much less in a pot! That's really nifty that you have an assortment of succulents. I have one currently and don't know what kind it actually is. (The kind that probably needs a re-potting, the way it's grown over the side of the pot.) I think we had adeniums for a while.

@jcgoble3 , that is fantastic! :D Rafting is most definitely not my thing but it seems like a great nature/sports hobby to have. I hope you have a great time. :)

    @jcgoble3 Yes please!

@DarthIshtar That is so scary :( As you said it's lucky that student was so observant. It's just terrifying to think of what could have happened if not for sheer luck.

@Kahara I didn't know that you could grow baobabs in pots either! I have a friend who is obsessed with cacti and succulents and who keeps ordering seeds from specialised sellers for the sort of plants they don't sell in nurseries. A few years ago Mr Chyn and I decided that any plants that died on our balcony would be replaced only by drought-resistant plants, and that's when we started having cacti and succulents. I asked my friend for advice (and got a long series of lectures from her) and she gave me the baobab seeds. She also gave me a saguaro seedling the size of a pea; two years on it's the size of an olive :p so it will also remain in its pot for the foreseeable future. The way climate change is going, the weather will be just about right when the time comes to transplant them in the garden [face_devil]
