Update: Apparently the alien invasion has been replaced or joined by a new disaster - giant killer robot from space.

The thing is, to keep it interesting, the Maxis team used a very familiar robot as the towering alien automaton. If you guessed the robot maid from The Sims, you guessed right. The robot lands and goes about monster mashing through the neighborhoods and the rest of your city until it has been either stopped or has quenched it's appetite for unbridled terror and destruction.

 

Neat, too bad it's not the giant robot maid from Space Balls though.

I just saw an ad for the game and they showed a picture of meteroites falling on a city and mentioned lightning disasters. So I guess that they're in.

BTW, where do you find all that info about the game D_I?

 

Can't wait to play this game. I loved all the Sim City games til now.

...it looks good, but i tend to get bored with the sim games after a few weeks.

You know, I am upset, cuz I have Simicty 3000 BUT NOT the Umlimited version... maxis won't let me participate on their forums cuz I DID NOT upgrade. It cost only $19 now, but why bother SC4 is coming out real soon?

 

do you have to pre-order to get the transportations add-on disk? or can you just buy it separately after the game is out?

 

some guy came into the store about 2 weeks ago asking for simcity4....funniest thing was that one of our idiot clerks tried to find it for him on the shelves

 

This isn't exactly SimCity related; rather on its denizens, The Sims. I bought the game the other day and while it is addictive fun, it's a chore and a half to keep the little b@$t@rd$ happy, have 'em go to work, relax, enjoy themselves and all that with so little real time to do all that with. Are there any online FAQ's, strategy guides or...well...cheats (mainly to slow down that damn clock) available out there? And what're the best expansion packs?

It's about 56 dollars at the EA store if you include shipping and it's 50 bucks at amazon.com since you can get free shipping. Is 6 more bucks worth the extra CD? Hmm... ?

 

It has gone GOLD and will be out in a week! IGN has a new gameplay movie on the right bar in the PC games section, too.

To answer your question, Clone, I don't know of any cheats to slow down the clock, but I have all the expansion packs except for Unleashed and I'm happy for now. If you get The Sims Deluxe, you don't have to hunt for your expansion disks, because the game will only work with the Deluxe disk in the drive.

And when you buy Simcity 4, you can import your sims and they will report back to you on local conditions where they are and where they live.

 

I am AMAZED at the lack of interest of this game, here.

What are the system requirements for SimCity 4?

And if you can, please give some other game(s) that are similiar if not the same to the requirements for SimCity 4. Just to know if my computer can handle this game. Thanks.

 

These are the reqs:

PIII 500 MHz or equivalent
128 MB RAM
16 MB supported Direct3D capable video card with DirectX 7.0 compatible driver
1 GB hard drive space 8X or faster CD-ROM drive

Sorry, but I'm not too sure about other games that need these reqs.

 

So is this like low requirements, high req, or just average? Sorry but I'm not real high up on the whole requirement stuff.

 

For todays systems, those are low requirements. They are probably the actual requirements for the game. There might be some recommended settings, but the game should play just fine with that kind of hardware. Seriously, the only thing that looks kind of high would be the hard drive space. And with 60 GB hard drives going for under $60, 1 gig shouldn't be hard to find (1 gig of space, not a 1 gig hard drive. those would be impossible to find).

my copy shipped to me on friday, but I missed it and had to pick it up from FedEx the next day.

My only problem is that the computer I am playing it on is finicky and closes the game on me before I can save, sometimes. I figured out how to control tornadoes, robots and homing meteors last night, though.
